King's Lynn V Coventry (nl) - 4th July 2014
Mimmo replied to Mimmo's topic in National League Speedway
If you're not bothered about the times you old buggar, why do you want them? Heat 1 = 65.00 Heat 2 = 66.82 Heat 3 = 67.19 Heat 4 = 64.56 Heat 5 = 65.18 Heat 6 = Race Awarded As you haven't got far to travel tonight, will you have time to check out the query I spoke to you about last night please? As Castleford v Stoke was rained-off last night, will it be restaged on the 9th July when the Scunthorpe (PL) meeting has been rescheduled? Cheers Mike -
King's Lynn V Coventry (nl) - 4th July 2014
Mimmo replied to Mimmo's topic in National League Speedway
A very good nights racing this, which took place in front of one of the lowest crowds I can ever remember seeing at a speedway track. No quarter was asked, and no quarter was given, and the entire evening was a joy to behold. Well done too to the travelling support from Coventry, who possibly outnumbered the locals. It would seem that your journey was a nightmare, especially at the Midlands end of the A14, yet you had no thought on giving up your journey and battled on through. We had a Music Festival going on in King's Lynn, but I wouldn't have thought this would have had such a detrimental affect on any would be home support. Attendances generally at King's Lynn for National League meetings are not the best, to say the least, but this one must have been soul destroying for everyone. If I was a rider, I wouldn't want to put my life on the line to entertain so few, such a shame for all those who put in so much hard work, only to be rewarded with virtually nothing. When I ask King's Lynn supporters at Elite League meetings why they don't come to see the 'Young Stars' on the odd occasion when we have a meeting, and they for the most part say, "Oh that crap, we don't like NL racing, it's Elite League or nothing for us". That's a lot of bollocks, as I see a great many of those very same people on a Sunday watching National League meetings at Mildenhall, so who do they really support? So thanks once again to the riders who gave us few so much enjoyment. Commiserations to King's Lynn who gave it 100%, including guest Chris Widman, and congratulations to Coventry on a well deserved win, with what is a very powerful and impressive septet. Finally, well done too to presenter Matt Black, who was in a position to speak over the tannoy to people in the crowd on a one-to-one basis, with there being so few. His banter with announcer Kevin Moore was at times hilarious, and even had referee Barbara Horley out of her seat laughing. Top job Matt, in trying to add that extra bit of fun flavour to an otherwise atmosphere lacking evening on the terraces. And a final final final well done to Buster, for providing a race surface second to none. Oh I forgot, I actually saw Laurence Rogers smile last night, which is very unusual, as he normally rents his choppers (teeth out young lady!!) out on a Friday and weekends. -

Thanks mate. Could you check your e-mails at your earliest convenience please, as I've sent you a private message. Cheers Mike -
11.45am on the day of the meeting, and not a single piece of advertising for tonight's meeting. I can't even find anything on the so called marvellous Facebook, so I guess it's little wonder the public are lower in numbers than what they might be!! There is mention however on the King's Lynn website (thanks Marc), and these are the expected line-ups . King’s Lynn ‘Fusion Clothing’ Young Stars 1. Chris Widman (G), 2. Kyle hughes R/R, 3. James Cockle, 4. Marc Owen, 5. Darren Mallett, 6. Josh Bailey, 7. Scott Campos Coventry City Gearboxes Storm 1. Oliver Greenwood, 2. Luke Crang, 3. Stefan Nielsen, 4. Dan Greenwood, 5. Dan Halsey, 6. Ryan Terry-Daley, 7. Martin Knuckey There is also a Midland Development League match between the two clubs, but once again, I can find no mention or team line-ups for this meeting.

Hope you manage to get there Bryn. I'd have loved to come and down and seen the meeting myself, as I simply adore my visits to Iwade, but as was the case on Monday with Kent, finances won't permit at the moment. Hope those that do go along, and I know Steve Miles is bound to be one, have a really fun afternoon, and that it stays dry for you all, which doesn't seem to be the general thought at the moment. But as we well know, the sun shines on the righteous........which means it will be a lovely day here in Norfolk .

This meeting will now be part of a double-header when Scunthorpe visit on the 20th August.

Well done 'Young Stars', a better result than I thought it would be. So now we can look forward to putting Coventry in their place this Friday....BRING IT ON!!.

I think King's Lynn are going to face an uphill battle tonight, even though Kent are riding shorthanded too. Hope I'm wrong, but I'll be surprised if the points find their way to Norfolk this evening.

I see now that Sheffield ran an inter-league challenge match against Berwick instead of the original advertised league meeting against Stoke. There's an excellent match report on the BSPA website, but sadly it lacks the crucial information of scorers and heat details. Do you by any chance have them please Laurence?
-
Apart from that request from above, does anyone know if the Sheffield v Stoke (MDL) meeting took place last night?
-
Looking at the team photo of Stoke in this weeks Speedway Star, baldness seems to be popular in that area with Jon Armstrong, Ben Hopwood and Dave Tattum, What's the situation with you under that baseball cap 'Proud Potter' (Don't you dare say the same as you )

Christian Henry has got to have a skin graft. I must agree that Len seemed to be putting one heck of a lot of water down, yet I didn't think overall that the meeting was to bad. Ben Morley is certainly a mystery as someone has said, and I don't know what the answer is with him really. He's undoubtedly got a talent, and I just feel that a move to a different club might benefit him, like it looks to have done with Simon Lambert. It was my first visit to Rye House this season, and as I've said before, the stadium is really well presented. One thing that really impressed me was that once proceedings got underway, it was run without lots of annoying delays and long intervals (I appreciate that's not always the case), and I was back in Heacham (Norfolk) by just after 10.30pm. I don't even get home from King's Lynn that early, and I only live a 20-25 minute drive from the stadium!!
