Okay DEATHBYMILKFLOAT, Heathen79 an Heathen1984 So it looks like you Heathens are going to double the amount of Young Star supporter in attendance. You take the 1/2 and 3/4 bends respectively. I'll cover the home straight, and if Dale Allitt has his son with him, he can cover the back straight. SORTED.........let's go racing. I'm 13-miles from the track and all is well weather wise. Have a good journey my fellow attendees.

With a little over 8-hours to go, myself, Bagpuss & heathen 79 are the only ones to have shown any interest in this topic/meeting. Is anyone else going or will we have the Norfolk Arena to ourselves????

Okay, so it is early in the morning and I'm still half asleep........or should that be half awake??? Deliberate mistake in my last posting was my comment about both teams wanting to record their first win of the week. The Heathens of course did just that last night, it was an aggregate defeat they suffered. So before anyone says it, yes I'm a plonker, but a tired one. nite, nite. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Although victory would have been sweet, last nights defeat by 2-points was the closest we've ever got to the Islanders on their own patch. The previous best was a 56-39 defeat which came last year, and with James Cockle retaining the Bronze Helmet too, should put the riders in a confident frame of mind as they take on Dudley this evening. Following the torrential downpours and accompanying thunderstorms of yesterday, we've awoken to the beautiful summer weather that we were blessed with on Sunday & Monday, perfect for an evening at the races. Both teams seem to have come through their respective encounters last evening unscathed, and both will be eager to record their first victory of the week. Unlike our last meeting, where due to circumstances beyond anyones control, there was no Track Shop, this time it will be open, and has the brand new King's Lynn 'Young Stars' badges in stock. At this point in time, there is a very limited stock available, so it will be very much a first come first served basis. Priced at just £3.50 they will make a lovely addition to your collection. See you at 7.30pm this evening.

I do, because like your track shop, I care about it There's a guy at King's Lynn who wants a Tomasz Gollob badge, and he's asked me to ask you if you have one in stock that he can buy. I've told him to come and see you on Wednesday Hey, I'm being dead serious!!

I'd dearly like that to be the case because I care passionately for the future of the sport at this level, but I somehow don't think that would make a great deal of difference. I understand, agree and fully respect the thoughts of those that say they can't afford to go watch speedway more than once a week. I also agree with comments about not wanting to risk lengthy travel in these days of high motoring costs, if the weather looks threatening, I myself don't for other clubs. What I can't understand is that out of in our case, about a couple of thousand supporters on Elite League nights, that don't share the above concerns, and which face it, law of averages says there must be a decent few, still won't support the club at this different level. If just 80-100 of them turned up, it would make such a massive difference to the overall running costs, to which admittedly I'm not privy, but is obvious. Whenever I go to Scunthorpe for a combined Premier & National League double-header, I stand dumbfounded when more people than not, make a rush for the exit at the conclusion of the PL event, as if it's illegal to stay for the NL meeting, even though they've paid for it....What's that all about?? Whilst not disagreeing with the advertising thoughts, I don't think with hand on heart that would make any difference, as that's trying to preach to the unconverted, and if they had any interest at all in attending speedway, then they would have done so already, especially when we were receiving rave publicity over our winning exploits of previous years. Surely the problem can't all be down to financial availability, because there are such a lot of King's Lynn supporters going to Mildenhall at the moment that can afford to go there, but not come to their own club. One family I spoke to at Mildenhall last Sunday said the reason they go to West Row and not the Norfolk Arena (I'm talking NL only, they come to EL meetings) said that they like the raceday, and in particular the start time, which is understandable when the kids have got to get home and be bathed/showered in readiness for school the nerxt day. But when I said to that same family, who incidentally said they lived at Terrington St Clement (or was it Tilney St Lawrence?), "So you came to the Norfolk Arena when we used to run Sunday meetings did you", they just said something like "Well no, you know what it's like". Trouble is I don't!!!!!!!!!!!! The only, what I would call genuine reason that I hear from stop away folk, is that they don't like the long drawn out meetings. I guess they've got a point with that argument, because as I said elswehere I believe in this topic a few days ago, some places I go are done and dusted in an hour and a half. If all other avenues have been explored to no avail by the club, then maybe we should look long and hard at trying to speed up proceedings, but then that is surely down to the referee. But on the other side of the coin, is that the real reason anyway for people not going? Buxton run the slickest presentation I know, seldom over the 90-minutes, yet there crowds are not good, and they have major cities like Manchester & Sheffield close by. Maybe there isn't an answer, because this debate has been going on for a few years now, long before excessive travel costs etc., and still it rumbles on. If anybody thats stayed awake long enough to read this posting has taken offence to any of my views, then I humbly(is that spelt right?) apologise, because that is not my intention. We've all got our own views, and we should all respect each others ideas, but for goodness sake, there must be an answer out there somewhere. If resolutions can be made to wars, workers strikes and everything else that is part of life, then surely this problem can be sorted out. Mind you, 21 missionaries (is that spelt right too?) in New York have said that the world is coming to an end tomorrow. So if you're going to Edinburgh, Plymouth, Somerset or Lakeside (Hackney) tonight, then enjoy your final ever meetings. Best wishes to you all, and I look forward to seeing you all wherever we may end up

Real powerhouse performance from the Young Stars, great to see after our troubled start to the season. Well done also to Buster and his crew for producing a superb race track, it really was in great condition. What a shame the riders couldn't have performed in front of a crowd rather than a small gathering, where on earth was everybody?

Okay Mr Rogers.

Don't know what the weather is like elsewhere in the country, but here in the King's Lynn area, it's very sunny and extremely mild. So if you're thinking of coming along to the Norfolk Arena this evening, then think no longer......DO IT. Bryn is almost sure to discard his multi-coloured home knitted tanktop for his favoured summerwear, that being his string vest. Presenter Kevin Moore will probably be reading extracts to us from the latest Jeff Scott book. I'll be moaning to all and sundry about my sciatica.....ouch, it don't 'arf 'urt!! Jaybea42 will be.........................who knows! It's the last chance to see the Young Stars for a month, so look forward to seeing you later.
-
Haha, you're also tight in....SOME.....ways. Good merchandise for a NL club, wish others in the area could boast the same What I meant was that 'ackney 'ave got nowt!!
-
Your right jaybea39(surely should be coming up 42) AND the current edition of the Speedway Star!!! Spare a thought for the poor fellow who will be manning the Track Shop tomorrow, as he's currently suffering with sciatica

This was my first visit to West Row for some considerable time, and like others have said, I was very impressed with the overall presentation. 90-minutes is plently long enough for a meeting to go on, including interval in this case, and I'm sure that's what the majority of the paying public want. I was at Sheffield on Thursday, and they ran through at a similar pace, as Buxton always do. Well done to all concerned at the Suffolk venue. Good Track Shop too

Cheers Phil.

Just looked at UK weather.yahoo.com and it says that at 12.34pm it is raining in Mildenhall, and truth in that one people??
-
Same request from West Norfolk, the weather looks decidedly dodgy.

What a terrible way to end what had been a superb night of speedway. Lets hope both lads recover as quickly as possible. With our backs now and truly to the wall, the club really does need the support on the terraces both at Mildenhall this Sunday, and more importantly at the Norfolk Arena next Wednesday.

No errands this week Lorna

Hi Martin, Even if I agreed with you about it being a big win for the Young Stars on Wednesday, that wouldn't be the way for me to try and promote the meeting. Come along on Wednesday and see the Young Stars slaughter Buxton, as they are so poor this year, they haven'y got a hope in hell. Don't think it would work do you? Positivity is the name of the game, and I'm sure the 'Hitmen' will push us all the way Hope you're well mate, and that Chris is enjoying life with Belle Vue. Take care Mike
