  1. No, I don't know I'm afraid. What a great performance from Jake in the British U18 Championship last night.
  2. With the weather set to be fair, there is no better chance than to come along to the Norfolk Arena tomorrow evening to witness National Development League racing at it's best. League leaders and potential champions Newport are in town, and their visit last season provided one of the best meetings of the year. For those folk who think that this level of racing is probably slow with riders showing little control, comments that have been made to me at times, then come and see how wrong you are. So far this year Jake Knight has set a time of 62.00; Simon Lambert 62.10; Adam Lowe 62.72; Darren Mallett 62.75; Scott Campos 63.53 with fastest visitor being Jerran Hart 60.01. Current track record is 59.75 by Simon Lambert. Why have I pointed those times out? Well if the doubters compare them with some of the times recorded during the World Team Cup meeting last Monday which were with one exception ALL slower than the current NDL Track Record: - Tai Woffinden 62.22 Magnus Zetterstrom 62.34 Fredrik Lindgren 62.37 Jonas Davidsson 62.50 Scott Nicholls 62.78 & Lee Richardson 63.22 I know that speed doesn't make a good race, but the above examples do prove that there is little difference between the three leagues from that point of view. Crowds at King's Lynn are not the best, which is such a terrible shame, and the riders and promotion really do deserve better. Hopefully we'll be boosted for the remainder of the campaign by some Mildenhall supporters following their oh so sad closure. They would be most welcome, even if they opted to cheer the opposition on..haha!! It was reported in the Friday edition of the Lynn News that the meeting starts at 7.30pm, but this is incorrect, it has a start time of 7.00pm Line-up's are as follows: - KING'S LYNN 1) Simon Lambert (Capt) 2) R/R 3) Scott Campos 4) Cal McDade 5) Adam Lowe 6) Lewis Kerr 7) Chris Widman Team manager: Keith Chapman NEWPORT 1) James Brundle 2) Tim Webster 3) Mark Jones 4) Tony Atkin (Capt) 5) Kyle Newman 6) James White-Williams 7) Tom Young Team manager: Nicky Mallett
  3. Excellent post Richard, and one that I agree with wholeheartedly. I've been banging the drum on this forum for some years now about the importance of the third tier of racing, and for the public to support it. Back in your racing days, and even more recently, the general public has been moaning about us not producing a World Champion (Mark Loram apart) for an eternity. A great many envious comments were also made about the wonderful training facilities that were available for the kids in Sweden, and why didn't we follow suit in this country. Well we did bring in the Academy League, followed by the now fairly well established National Development League, and youngsters with enormous potential are emerging, your own son being one of them, and many of them will reach heat-leader status at the minimum in the Premier League.......if the public support them, but sadly for some reason they won't. The last two meetings we've seen at the Norfolk Arena (Bournemouth & Dudley) have produced some of the finest racing that I've seen in any stadium at any level in recent years, and I attend approximately a hundred meetings a season, and it's such a shame that supporters are missing out by staying away. I know someone will come on here and say they can't afford to go to speedway twice a week, and I do fully understand that, because everyone's financial responsibilities are different, but on the other side of the coin, there are equally as many that can afford it, but choose to criticise the level of racing and treat it with contempt, when I know for a fact that some of them have never attended a meeting. Sorry if I've gone on a bit here, and maybe lost the plot a little bit about your posting. I care passionately about the future of the sport in this country, and the success of home grown riders, and it scares me to think that in a very short space of time, speedway could find itself in the same position it was back in the sixties, back in the doldrums with just a handful of clubs operating. Okay, it's time for me to run for cover, and for you to get back to selling some cars Mike
  4. If you bring a couple of hundred then you'll probably double our crowd. At times crowd levels leave a lot to be desired, which is a complete mystery to me, as generally speaking the racing is as good as anything you see in the Elite/Premier Leagues. The catering is good with a large selection of food and beverages. The bar is also open for those wanting amber nectar. As I said in my original posting, I hope this meeting moves along at a swift pace, because as you say, you've got to be up early for work in the morning. The support that can be generated from other tracks is important, and everything should be done to make sure things move along at a reasonable pace, so that people like you go home wanting to return again sometime. It will also have been a long day for us King's Lynn fans having left our homes at around 11am this morning. Have a good journey down to us, and win or lose, enjoy your visit.
  5. As always these British U15 Championships don't get the recognition that they deserve with the media seemingly embarrassed to publish results. Is there any kind soul out there that could find the time to post them here on the forum. Thank you very much. Mike
  6. Good morning Whippy, and what a lovely morning it is too. The meeting does start at 7pm as you ask, and one can only hope that everything runs smoothly, and that it doesn't drag on. It's gonna be a long day with the Stars being at Rye House this afternoon, then the journey back to the Norfolk Arena for this evening. Rye House should be over by about 4.15pm, which gives us all ample time to be back for what could well be the best Young Stars meeting of the season so far. Dudley have hit their inaugural campaign running, and will be a tough nut to crack, but if anyone can do it then we can. With both Lambo and Darren riding, they are more than a match for Byron Bekker (Guest) and former Boston Barracuda Jon Armstrong. Lower down the order, the clubs are pretty much like for like, which makes this such a fascinating contest, and one that's bound to be enjoyed by the public. With no more track action until the 26th July at the Norfolk Arena when they host a round of the Speedway World Team Cup, tonight represents the perfect chance to see some high-class racing for a modest price of just £8 adults and £6 for those that have been there and done it
  7. Couldn't find any of the edible variety, but the other sort satisfied my appetite
  8. Thanks Jayne. The sun is blazing down here this morning, and we've decided to make the journey although it's only 6.00am in the hope. Bakewell should be waking up by the time we arrive for breakfast. Here's hoping for a good meeting.
  9. Thanks for your post chopper, and yes a weather update in the morning would be very much appreciated. All the Best
  10. Oh dear, has Buxton been washed away by flood water, not a single reply. Guess I'll go to Mildenhall v Isle of Wight instead.
  11. Maybe Chris Widman will come in as a guest.
  12. This is the fixture that I look forward to more than any other in my calendar, and sincerely hope the weather will be good for tomorrow. Do any of you good Buxton folk know what the forecast is for tomorrow, as it's a heck of a long drive for a rain-off. If the forecast is good, then I'll leave home at the crack of dawn, and make a day of it in the Peak District, where I can visit my favourite cake shop in Bakewell. If it's not to good, then maybe I'll delay my journey until later in the morning, but would rather not do that, as the Fowler & Welch lorries tend to hog the A17 come mid-morning, racing along at about 25mph!! Any team news from either camp yet please? I assume that we'll be using R/R for Simon Lambert, who will be otherwise occupied in Glasgow for his new club Sheffield. Okay, I've asked my questions of you, I've been good to both the wife and the cat, and I've said nice things to him upstairs, so here's hoping!!
  13. One can't even start to imagine the feeling of losing a soul mate and partner, it must be the most awful thing that can happen. Be as strong as you can be Ray, and cherish the many wonderful memories until such time that you are reunited. R.I.P Jean. Mike Moseley
  14. As Rob said Robbie, this is one heck of a good site, you've done a great job mate. Is it your aim to cover many seasons eventually? Regards Mike
  15. He rode for Birmingham in 1954, 1955 & 1956 and New Cross in 1961, but never rode for any other British club.
  16. Yes, it's 7-years since dear old Geoff passed away. I don't know about old riders still being alive, there are still some OLD SUPPORTERS alive. Bryn Williams automatically springs to mind Parsloes isn't quite as old as the man from Wales, but certainly looks it, and definitely gives an appearance of being dead
  17. Oh my god, the BP has risen already!!
  18. There are times you have turn a blind eye to what he says and just humour him Rob, as he gets precious little right since he's developed all these split loyalties You and I along with the universe know that Jim Dale wasn't in Carry On Up The Khyber!! Anyway, must go, as I'm going to the cinema tonight to see Sharon Stone and Beyonce in the Railway Children.
  19. Apology accepted Parsloes, what a noble gesture on your part, with so little prompting There is another Dale that you've conveniently forgotten, and that is that of the National League's No 1 team-manager (ut oh, way from a stream of abuse from Ponytail ) Mister Dale Allitt.......COME ON, BRING IT ON!!
  20. I thought it was only Justin Elkins people at Wimbledon wanted to forget Obviously my list the other day wasn't all from memory, but a lot were, it was just that I didn't have time to dig out a comprehensive list. STILL WAITING FOR YOUR APOLOGY ABOUT THE DERBYSHIRE DALES.......................IN PUBLIC
  21. Parsloes old chap, I was just getting ready to go to speedway at King's Lynn when i saw Speedguy's request, so I knocked something up as quickly as I could from memory, so yes there were names that I missed. 23. Come on Parsloes, don't be so damn stupid about this Cumbrian Dales branch, your boss knows full well that the Barking Dales branch has what you want
  24. Drive past Derwent Park & Tesco on left, and follow road down to the roundabout. Straight across at roundabout, where you are bound to see the venue signposted. If memory serves me right, I believe E-on is on the corner where you turn in, but I'm not 100% sure on that. There must be a Worky fan reading this who can provide exact directions for you.
