  1. Phil, Heat 1: Bates, Mountain, Williams (15 metres), Graver 65.10 3-3 Heat 2: Laurence, Strudwick, Rose, Govier. 67.50 4-2 (7-5) Heat 3: Laurence, Mountain, Graver, Strudwick 5-1 (12-6) Heat 4: Govier, Rose, Williams, Bates (NS) 3-3 (15-9) Heat 5: Mountain, Graver, Williams, Strudwick 4-2 (19-11) Heat 6: Laurence, Rose (Fell), Govier (Fell), Bates (NS) 3-0 (22-11) Unfortunately the tannoy in the main stand was abysmal to say the least, and trying to hear Edwin Overland was almost impossible, and couldn't hear the race winning times for Heats 3-6 inclusive. It would have helped a bit if someone turned the music off whilst he's talking. I believe our next home fixture is against Lakeside on the 30th May following the Young Stars v Isle of Wight fixture, so hopefully we'll see another evening where the majority of the public remain to see the AJL match. Do you by any chance know whether it was a league or challenge match last night? Cheers mate, and have a good one on Sunday. Mike
  2. I'll add my best wishes to Chris too, from myself and I'm sure everyone connected with King's Lynn Speedway.
  3. Hi Speedball, Do you have the heat winning times for all six races please? Thanks Mike I can help with the dates of birth: Niall Strudwick = 29th May 1990 Joe Graver = 22nd October 1996 Martin Knuckey = 4th September 1992 Adam Portwood = 1st July 1995 Tom Stokes = 23rd April 1994 Jake Williams = 23rd March 1995 Lewis Rose = 3rd September 1989 Liam Rumsey = 10th July 1989 Cheers Mike
  4. Very pleased to hear that all is well with Dylan, it was certainly a nasty looking accident. Good to see Ben Morley walk back to the pits too. Phew, what a cold night though, more like winter than spring. What a crazy situation with the hospital not sending an ambulance to the track until one of THEIR paramedics had checked to see if the Rye House medical people had assessed the injured party correctly. What an insult to the fully trained staff in attendance!! Must say I was full of admiration for the way Len Silver handled the decision as to whether to abandon the meeting or not, I don't think I've ever seen anything like that put to the public vote before. Haha, another first was sending the track staff around on a pre-meeting truck parade, merrily waving away as if that's what we'd all come to see. Nice also to see Laurence (Long John Silver) Rogers hobbling about on his crutches, I've never seen him move around so quickly in his life before. Finally, good luck at Buxton this afternoon (I might still come up to the meeting if the guvnor fancies it....the meeting of course!!!!), and thanks to all involved with the USA party, for once again coming to these shores to entertain the few people that bother to go along and watch you, you deserve more.
  5. If my wife feels well enough, we're hoping to travel down to this meeting, and shall be leaving home at around 1.30pm. Any up to date weather reports would be greatly appreciated, especially if you are in close proximity to the stadium. It should be a very good nights racing, so let's hope the weather holds out. Thank You.
  6. I don't think Robert will be 14 until the 5th April this year, but I'll stand to be corrected.
  7. Done, and the very best of luck in trying to get the Wildcats back on track, they are sorely missed.
  8. Really looking forward to this, and despite poor weather around large parts of the UK today, 'Lucy' on Daybreak says it is going to remain cloudy but dry and warm in this little corner of East Anglia. Support for the Young Guns meeting was mysteriously low last week, and with news that next weeks Pride of the East has been cancelled, tonight becomes the penultimate night of track action at the Norfolk Arena. I know that the majority of 'Stars' fans for some bizzare reason, seem to boycott the third tier of racing, but at the end of the day, this is YOUR CLUB, and they NEED YOUR SUPPORT. Of course you're not going to see the so called top riders, but at the end of the day, there are still two teams of seven guys, committed to providing high-class entertainment, at only less than a second a lap slower than Grand Prix riders. One disappointment for many young ladies is the fact that Jaybea won't be putting in an appearance in the Track Shop tonight, but he assures me that plans are in place for merchandise to be sold as normal. Start time is 7.30pm.........will you be there?
  9. I think we've all aired our views on this topic now, and we will have to agree to disagree with each other, as there are to many important things in life to concern ourselves with as and when they come along other than handbags at speedway. I'm thankful that all four riders in that race are safe, albeit maybe a bit bruised, and will be fit to race in their next scheduled meetings. As for next Sunday, I just hope that EVERYONE on both sides of the fence, are adult enough to realise that these things happen sometimes, and that lessons have been learned from them. The verbal behaviour of certain people in front of the bar on the 1st bend does need addressing by the management. We try to preach to the unconverted what a good family sport we have, and a fair amount of families sit in that area, and should not be subjected to such treatment. As for you Jack, and you know who you are, please, for the good name of the majority of Mildenhall fans, stop deliberately winding people up week in week out, in an attempt to entice trouble. You're a grown man for goodness sake who cares about his team, and you're stepping to far over the line with your biased attitude. As I said in one of my earlier postings, I don't support either club, so I'll be happy at the end of the day if one team wins one trophy, and the other, the other. So this is my last posting on this meeting and its events, and I'll close by hoping that the same minority of idiots don't spoil it for all and sundry again this coming Sunday. If you don't goad the riders, they'll have no need to retaliate, and everyone will go home safe and happy.
  10. As he's been riding in the Premier League all season with Sheffield, I'd have thought a place in the PL next season would be a formality. With regards Daniel Halsey I'm in full agreement, and was my Man of the Match too.
  11. I don't know if you are including me as one that doesn't offer a balanced view. If you are, then I can assure you that as a neutral (don't support either team), that was very much my intention to do so. But as you say, it is interesting to read the differing views, and the world would be very boring if we all shared those same views.
  12. As I said in my posting rossimania, we are all entitled to our own opinions, and as far as I'm concerned it is you that is wrong not me. Quite how you can say Simon Lambert threw his dummy out beggars belief, and would seem to be another example of a biased supporter. If you think he was lucky to be in the re-run, then thank goodness you weren't the referee, as that decision would have been unjust.....in my opinion. It WAS around 10-minutes before trouble ignited, because Simon Lambert was receiving medical assitance for approximately that length of time before returning to the pits. With regards to your explanation to what happened in the pits, then I will bow to your knowledge on that one, because I wasn't in that particular area, whereas you obviously were. So as that's where you were physically located, you couldn't possibly have got a clear view of the on-track incident from that angle, as the riders were too closely bunched together, which in reality is what caused the accident. As for asking the persons concerned to moderate their language, you've got to be joking. Morons like that don't take any notice of angelic people like me, so get real.
  13. Hi Phil, I'm certainly not going to fall out with you over this because you're a friend, but I can't completely agree with your posting, but of course recognise we are ALL entitled to our own opinions. With regards to the Heat 13 incident, I was stood right in front of where it all happened, and it was no more than four very dedicated riders eager to come out of the 2nd bend in front, as Mildenhall is such a difficult track to pass on, due to its size. Simon Lambert was no more to blame for the incident than anyone else, as they were all jostling for important track position, and the referee without question, called it right by allowing all four back in. Certainly a nasty coming together though, and thankfully everybody was okay. If a rider feels he's been roughed up by another, generally speaking they start showing their displeasure on the track, irrespective of the medical condition of the suspected culprit, yet this was not the case. Nothing happened for around 10-minutes until all had returned to what should be the safety of their pit area. Although I can't answer for what happened between riders in the pits, what was evident, and I'm sorry but this is where we disagree, was the trouble brought about by a substantial amount of so called Mildenhall fans. Forgetting about yesterday, but there is a guy that stands at the back by the fish bar, who every meeting is loud mouthing and swearing about everybody in the visitors camp. There's another chap who is always first in the queue to get in, and sits at the back close to the track shop with his wife, who is a major trouble maker with his verbal outbursts. Then there's the gang who stand in front of the bar, who always seem to be looking for trouble....not nice. So all in all, some very nasty scenes yesterday, right under the noses of the dignatories in attendance. Lets hope lessons have been learned, and there won't be a repeat when the two teams lock horns again next Sunday, but unless the morons that I've mentioned grow up in the course of the next seven days, I fear they will be out to verbally entice trouble again. ATB/Mike
  14. According to the Sheffield v IOW and Sheffield v Belle Vue double-header programme, they are the 'Prowlers' and sponsored by the Window Centre when racing at Owlerton. Not sure id that clears anything up or not.
  15. Congratulations to all and sundry for this afternoon's excellent British Youth Championhship. When it's considered that the stadium doesn't get used for official competitions any more, the whole area was immaculately clean and tidy. The presentation was first class, even though Bryn was half asleep early doors. Track conditions were virtually faultless, although it blew up dusty from time to time, but after a few minutes watering, all was well again. The racing was very good, and wow what a prospect Max Clegg looks, and so the list goes on. My only complaint is that this club (Sittingbourne) is not in the National League, because they should be. Just hope it won't be to long before I'm afforded an oportunity to visit this lovely little of Kent again.
  16. I'm surprised it's not already been done by a Mildenhall fan, so I'll step forward and commend the Fen Tigers management team on providing a more than raceable track in extreme conditions. I can think of a club a couple of hours away, that would have called this meeting off long before it had started, but not Messrs Jolly, Lee, Henry etc. I doubt there were many people on the terraces, if in fact any, thought this meeting had a cat in hells chance of taking place, but take place it did, and congratulations to both sets of riders for giving of their best. Good luck in your quest to reach the KO Cup Final, you and your fans deserve to have what will be another profitable day at the turnstiles. I must also mention the flags that Jaybea39 going on 50 mentioned this morning. They are a joy to behold if you're a Mildenhall fan, and priced at just £20, it's little wonder folk were biting his hand off to purchase one. I'm off for a tuna fish sandwich now...bye bye.
  17. I reckon you're probably right about Jaybea. As for Robert Henry, I doubt he'll have that worry this afternoon.
  18. Thanks for the info Damon. It's the same here, with the odd spot or two already having fallen. I intend leaving home at about 1.45pm, so if the conditions should worsen, would you or someone please be kind enough to post on here. Can't wait to see Jaybea39's super duper state of the art flags. Incidentally Jaybea, now that you've had your 42nd Birthday and have entered your 43rd year of life on this planet, then isn't is time to rename yourself 'Jaybea (edging ever nearer to half a century)42'?
  19. What's the latest weather situation in Fen Tigers land please, as it's looking not so good in my part of Norfolk at the moment?
  20. To some extent I concur with what you say Parsloes, but in other ways I don't. Newport should have entertained King's Lynn (who need that meeting to be run as they still have a play-off chance)on Bank Holiday Monday, but decided to call it off at very late notice, without to the best of my knowledge, any official statement as to why. It's been rumoured that they couldn't arrange medical cover, but I don't know that for a fact. If that postponement, which is so close to the cut-off date, involves ANY club that is reliant on it taking place, so as to aid their chances of progression, then there should be a way around it. If in this case King's Lynn miss out due to the non-running of that meeting, then that's not fair, because it's not their fault that it didn't take place, they were eager for it to do so. Goodness knows what the answer is, but what looks like happening ain't it
  21. Good luck 'Young Stars', oh how I wish I could be there today, but alas it's not possible. If ever the National League could throw up an exciting feast of speedway, then it gets no better than this, and I hope that the fans of the Manchester club turn out in large numbers to support it. Not only are you going to see the riders who finished 1st & 2nd in last nights NLRC, namely Jason Garrity and Kyle Howarth in the Red, White & Black of the Belle Vue 'Colts', but you're also going to be showered with some of the best riders in the business representing the other two clubs. Malcolm Vasey has built a side that is the envy of most, and hats off to him for that (although I hope he keeps his firmly in place so as to cover up the shiny bonce). Simon Lambert is now producing the best form of his career, slipping in paid or paid maximums most places he rides. Jaimie Pickard and James Sarjeant have reached new personal levels, and so the list goes on. A really exciting and forceful team indeed, with the double (League & Cup) still being a distinct possibilty. Dale Allitt and his charges have made the pundits who said King's Lynn would prop the rest of the league up, look idiots. Even though they lost big hitters Darren Mallett and Adam Lowe to season long injuries early doors, they've still shown a clean pair of heels to many. Although without Kyle Hughes and possibly James Cockle (he was missing from the Plymouth team at Berwick last night) this afternoon, the big man from Boston will have dug deep to find suitable replacements. Every year this marvellous league throws up a gem or two, and 2011 is no different with the rapidly emerging talent of Snettisham based Lewis Kerr. Topped the Young Stars scorechart a week ago last Wednesday, notching his first ever maximum from the reserve berth. The Norfolk club are still in the hunt for a play-off spot, so points for them today are of a great necessity along with anything they can gain at Dudley on Tuesday. That just leaves the away fixture at Newport to come for them, and they desperately need the Welsh club to offer them a date prior to next weekends cut-off date, otherwise that could scupper their chance of taking their place in the play-offs, and that wouldn't be fair. So good luck everybody, I hope you all end the afternoon with what you want, and that it's an injury free day for the riders.
  22. Seeing the advert from Jaybea regarding the Mildenhall flags, if you're a genuine collector of speedway memorabillia, you won't want to miss out on one of these. Although I've not see the Fen Tigers 'Wind Blowers', I have seen those for Lasse Bjerre and Emil Sayfutdinov, and they are tremendous value for money.
  23. I can only concur with everything you say here Bryn. The sickening incident happened right in front of where I was standing, and although we all see these sort of things from time to time, this particular one was horrifying enough to make me leave the stadium and drive home. I'm so sorry he's picked up such serious injuries, yet so relieved in another way, because on this occassion, I feared the worst. Get well soon J-Lo, and hope to see you at least back on terraces watching as quickly as possible. Mike
  24. As the King's Lynn fixture at Newport has been put back to 6.30pm from it's previously advertised 2.30pm start time, it means the seven of us that were going to attend will now no longer be doing so. So it looks like I'm gonna have to dig around for a different programme board, and watch you 'moggies' at both West Row on Sunday and Scunny on Monday. Here's hoping you get all you want.
