Wild Cards For 09
tigerblues replied to beesbarmyarmy's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Nicholls, Lindgren, Sajfutdinov, Holder. Nicholls although will probably never win a GP is clearly of a better standard than we've seen in the GPs before, now this side is coming out of him I reckon he should have 2009 and if he does not make the top 8 by merit, he should be out full stop. Lindgren is not a rider I like or rate but I reckon they'll want 2 Swedes and Fredrik is next in line, could make a bigger impact on the series next year. Sajfutdinov, I do not need to justify the choice. Holder said previously he's not ready for the financial side, a rider like him surely in the GPs would get some decent sponsorship and it wouldn't take long for him to start racking up some impressive scores, brilliant rider who deserves a place. I know 2 Brits will be wanted for Sky and Cardiff but no others are good enough. Unless we just claim Crump is British due to being born here and advertise this at every possible oppurtunity (I am joking btw!!) -
Spot on.
-
Yeah all true - problem is they will want 2 Brits, so who gets the nod over Nicholls? After him there's Bomber who proved this year he's not quite a GP rider and after that the gap is huge, for Tai it's too early, can't see Rico adding much to the series and the likes of Kennett, Bridger etc would be well well out of their depth. If Bomber gets the nod over someone such as, I dunno Sajfutdinov, even Lindgren then it's a disgrace, he does not deserve a place, quite frankly.

Congratulations Nicki

What or who would you say is a good world champ? Not challenging your opinion I just don't know what you mean. -
Congratulations Nicki
tigerblues replied to Lis's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Where will it end for Nicki? Can't see him slowing down. Second consecutive world championship, second consecutive awesome season. Of course this also puts him up there with the all-time greats and could go further. Brilliant. Congratulations, has been superb pretty much all year. Fully deserved -
Bydgoszcz-who,s Going?
tigerblues replied to GARY POPPS's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
That's selfish really. Some fans will actually go and they deserve a decent meeting with no problems, something they didn't get to see in Germany. I can't understand how p1ssed off people must be at losing their money but it doesn't mean you need to wish it on someone else. -
Chris Holder For Next Weekend's Gp

Thank God someone else has mentioned this. Thought I was making it up -
Gelsenkirchen Off !

NO! It's not Martin Smolinski's fault Ole Olsen hasn't got a clue. And if we're having a new wildcard, which we're not, then bring on Sajfutdinov. Why? Because it's his home track. Oh, and the small matter of beating Holder to the World U21 title. I like Holder but honestly -
Chris Holder For Next Weekend's Gp
tigerblues replied to KrisB's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Really? I agree with this. Why all this "to show what he could do next year"? What happened to him not doing the GPs next year even if he was asked? They were his own words weren't they? -
World U-21 Final
tigerblues replied to Hackett's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
There's some sensible posts on here regarding Tai. Whilst I've got a little carried away about him myself a few times, as he really is an exceptional talent, I think this is a bit of a reality check and a message to us to back off and leave him to it. It's clear to see he could go a long way in the sport but it's also clear he does have a long way to go to get to that standard, I think sometimes some of us think he's already made it. Brilliant prospect and he is worth getting excited for the future about, but I think it's time to take a step back and let him see what he can do without hampering him with too much pressure. Congratulations to Sajfutdinov and also Holder and Pavlic aswell by the way, would be fantastic to see Sajfutdinov over here soon although I don't think he will be over anytime soon tbh. -

What I meant was if he doesn't get back in the GPs another Brit will, really replying to the comment about losing a Brit next year. I can't see which other British riders are deserving of a wildcard, but one will get in.
-
Since no other Brits have qualified I presume he'll get a wildcard, and even if not he'll be replaced with another Brit. Get well soon, Bomber.

I was gutted Crumpy didn't come out on top, as to beat Nicki by 12, whilst it is a big ask, it could have been done. I think 16 is too much really. Hope Nicki is world champion as he has been the best rider by a mile this year and fully deserves it but had hoped it'd go right down to the end. Nicki would need to not turn up to lose it now, I think. As for the exclusions, ref was spot on to me. There was definitely some contact between Gollob and Crump and with the track how it was I think it's highly unlikely Crump came off by laying it down. The Pedersen/Crump incident, to me it looked as though Nicki kicked his leg out which is how his foot got caught on Crump's bike and how Crump picked up an injury and Nicki looked to lean onto Crump. Nicki's fault IMO, spot on decisions. Also think Lindgren's exclusion was the right call although tbf to Lindgren he couldn't really avoid it. Dryml was an absolute disgrace and is quickly gaining a reputation as one of the most dangerous men in speedway. Maybe Nicholls should have held back but had that been me I'd have gone and given him what for aswell. Makes you wonder what was going through Dryml's head when he was injured himself as surely he, from an outsider's point of view with his brother and having been hurt pretty badly himself, is in one of the best positions to know the impact of bad crashes, and he nearly caused a pretty bad one then. Idiot Well done Hans who seemed to capitalise on Crump's bad luck in the final, as did Bjarne but that's speedway, Crump was unlucky but s*** happens. People are complaining because of Crump on the rostrum but I think I'd struggle to have any enthusiasm after having a comfortable 1st snatched from him but as I say, that's just how it is in speedway. -
Next year it's pencilled in for apparently. I reckon it'll be at Coventry or Poole myself, Sky should televise it though IMO.

Lindgren's had one good round

I can barely contain my excitement at what the 2009 GP series will be like with Walasek and Ulamek in. Thrilling

Danish And Australian Gp 2009
tigerblues replied to JanusMillard's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
It was in the Speedway Star, last week I think, about plans for the Aussie GP. It may be that the GP series starts a few weeks later than usual in May if there's not any other extra rounds and finishes in Europe for the British season ending with the Aussie GP finishing off? And if it does come about for Melbourne, we'll see Chris Holder in a GP as the wildcard no doubt before he's in there full time, woohoo -
Sullivan, Rico and Bjerre for me aswell.. not in that order though.

Latvian Gp
tigerblues replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Is there anyone else to do it, or is Millard not on a lot of money.. unless they know as little about speedway as him at Sky and think nothing of it. Kelvin sounded like he was losing the will to live commentating with him. -

Same here, he just seems to say it every single race regardless of whether the rider in 4th is actually trailing off or not. Brilliant about the wristbands - make sure you spread the word and loads will be raised. Darren and Sharon both seemed like fantastic people. -
