Why.........they would be staging the same number of meetings, and in some cases, more regulary than in recent seasons.
-
Thanks peeps.
-
But then you run the risk of having a rider from a strong team who hasn't ridden as a heat leader, whos 'real' average is higher than heat leaders at a weak team
-
In the Rossiter quote, he covered the GP issues which are apparently being addressed, and while admitting it won't happen this season, seemed confident that it would in the near future. Alternate week racing, may not be acceptable to you but it looks like that is the future if Rossiter is to be believed.
-
This was claimed a couple of weeks ago........do you have a link to the announcement?
-
I agree, it goes against the principle of the FTR system completely. Barker, along with some others rumoured to be included in this system, shouldn't be. They have progressed beyond the level the FTR system is aimed at, and it makes a mockery of the whole thing....not to mention taking opportunities away from young lads who the system is intended benefit.
-
Alun Rossiter seems to suggest otherwise......
-
It was at the time. In those days they also held 'second half' races where youngsters and riders who weren't included in the team raced. It was one of these riders who were promoted into the team in the event of both teams having a similar quality rider injured.
-
Nope, Rosco's covered that too........they (BSPA) are speaking with BSI and hoping to conclude a deal where the GP's and British speedway work together. That reason is clearly there, it's just a case of them actually manning up and saying it
-
Interestingly, Alun Rossiter is quoted in Speedway Star as saying it will.......on Fridays.
-
Also, they don't have to be part of the draft system if they don't want to.........there's nothing stopping them signing for anyone on their own merits.
-
Much the same could have been said about Glasgow a short time ago..........
-
You're missing the point here......you are trying to use the current regulations and fit things around them. My point was, back in the day things were a lot simpler, and the teams simply promoted a rider from their second half.....there's always a lesson to be learned from history
-
After four meetings your EDR can now move up into the 1-5 if his average permits which will take him out of the protected heats anyway. Also, both teams would be in the 'same boat', so any advantage/disadvantage would be cancelled out.
-
Is the rule still in place which demands that a 'recognised' promoter has to be on board, even if they are just advising?
-
I agree, but as I pointed out earlier in the thread, nothing in the rules or regulations for 2016 stops a team signing three of the top riders in the World........except maybe, ambition !!!
-
I agree 100% with that actually, so can only think it comes down to lack of a motivational manager or promotion
-
Not really, but if you let Jon Cook select your team for 2016, that really could help !!
-
Back in the day, if two teams met with a similar averaged rider missing from each team because of injury, the r/r or guest facility would be cancelled out. Each team would then promote their 'number eight' to cover for the absentees. I really can't understand why this system can't be re-introduced as it reduces guests and retains credibility for the sport, not to mention it being a useful tool for giving youngsters a chance in the team.
-
I'm sure I read somewhere that Jonas B Andersen has signed a 2016 contract with Redcar, but can't find any official confirmation of this. Can anyone confirm or deny please?
-
Not really true though is it. An enterprising British promoter could sign Tai Woffinden, Emil Sayfutdinov and Nicki Pedersen and fill the remaining team places with low average 'fill-ins'. The last way to describe that would be a 'cost cutting team', but it is allowed in the rules. The option of speculating to accumulate is there should any promoter wish to take that route, assuming of course they could convince the 'big names' to come back.
-
Thanks for the update. I have to say I find that a strange reason for Tony Mole to give, especially as all the 2015 teams are now confirmed starters next year. I'm also disappointed as Birmingham, Eastbourne, Kent, Stoke, and Mildenhall all have, in my opinion, a lot to offer the PL.
-
Aren't the Brummies promotion unsure at this stage which league they'll be operating in during 2016? I'm sure they'll be a fair bit of pressure on them to move up to the PL at least.
-
Livingston is the favored option for who.........the speedway or Sainsburys?

Thanks for the update, much appreciated.
