  1. "British Speedway Leagues 1946-1964" by Peter Morrish and published in 1984 will give you many of the details you require CHK.
  2. Wasn't the Champions Chase for around 32 riders? Yes I believe it was now you mention it.
  3. The Champions' Chase meetings which used to be held at Hackney used a knock-out style formula where everyone was guaranteed at least two rides. I can't remember too many details and suspect the current GP format has been based on it. What I do remember though was that those meetings had many more heats than normal and also that a lot of riders could enter the meetings early stages. Can anyone remember the format in more detail?
  4. Serious question - can anyone shine any light on why the proposed move from Kingsmead to Sturry Road never happened?
  5. That's going to get tongues wagging Eat your heart out ebay!!!

  8. It was rumoured after last years' events that BSI would exclude them from the 2004 compeition - not sure if this has actually happened, but could be the answer.
  9. No, but you've called me a few other things haven't you?
  10. Where are you Kelvin? Fancy missing that one. Thanks for that Gem - I was giving Suzannah a break because she's new, but now you've started me off.

  16. That's great Steve, thanks for that. Can anyone bring these results up to date please?
  17. Has anyone got a complete list of winners for this meeting?
  18. I've often thought Brands Hatch would make a good venue for speedway and wonder if it's ever been persued. Lydden is still there and is now owned by McLaren for testing purposes. One drawback is that the Canterbury/Dover border runs right through the middle of the circuit. This means that planning approval has to be obtained from both councils which could prove restrictive. Is there anyone who lives near Lydden on the forum who could give us any more info?
  19. I remember standing on the fourth bend watching Canterbury get thrashed and one of the girls selling raffle tickets asked me if I wanted to buy some as "it's the only chance you've got of winnning anything tonight"!!! Cheeky #$#
  20. Yes, I believe he did - if memory serves me right, he broke his leg, but not sure on that one.
  21. And all because the lady loves Milk Tray.
  22. I guess it's also got a bathroom then Jo? That'll make a pleasant change from last year (Yeah, I know you re-booked really) I think its got a bit more than that, Kev Here are some of the facilities it has. The hotel service: restaurant, bar, night club, conference rooms, view terrace, room service, laundry, hairdressing salon, clothing boutique, cosmetics boutique, beauty salon, solarium, Jacuzzi, sauna, gym, car rental, multi-language service, guarded car-park, also for coaches. Blimey, sounds good - the only thing missing is a chess board.
