  1. I seem to remember that Sky didn't cover the SGP until a few years after it started. I think it was originally on other satellite channels, as was the World Final. It was certainly Sky who covered the inaugral British Grand Prix from Hackney although I can't be certain for the other rounds that year.
  2. Frederik Rudolph (Rudy) Muts b. 10/4/1956 - Hilvershum, Holland.
  3. Complete guess - Bridge Country Club???
  4. The evidence suggests otherwise Shazz ;-)
  5. Great stuff Grachan - was it me or did "Terry Betts" have a Swedish race jacket on?
  6. Blimey Steve, I'd be interested to hear your comments about riders you're not keen on who don't ride for your team. ;-)
  7. Has anyone got any idea of the format? My guess is the 1st team in each of the first events straight into the final with the top two from the semi-final joining them. Can anyone confirm or deny?
  8. That I could live with Lioness............ but Eastbourne. Not for one minute.
  9. Of course we're behind you Shazz - I've sent mine along with Lioness and Duncrusadin' - thats four - go for it forum - get behind us and make it clear to Canterbury Council that there's still huge support for speedway in the City and you never know.........
  10. So just how long HAVE you been a bloody Eastbourne fan?
  11. Good on yer Shaz, I reckon you're dead right :!: Yeah, I agree about Mark. If you reproduce the track just as it was, he would be outstanding around there. Now you've really go tme thinking - how many ex-Crusaders are still riding today? (I can think of one). OK listen - I've got a plan - I'll go halves with you on the lottery ticket, we'll collect the money on Monday, set everything up and on the opening night I'll meet you in Don's before the meeting. Then we can walk round the corner, get the show on the road and after the nine o'clock curfew we'll still have time to hit the town and celebrate - you up for it? We might even be able to talk Honey into riding in the second half - that should put a few on the gate!
  12. Come back from the dark 121, the info was greatly appreciated. I didn't mean to sound unappreciative at all. Just wish I'd seen it before the cut-off date and could have sent some emails in support of bringing the land back to its former glory.
  13. Go for it Shazz - nothing to lose mate
  14. Thanks for the link 121. Interesting stuff indeed but picked up on the last line or two which reads "A preferred option for Kingsmead will not be chosen until after the city council elections on 1 May 2003". So does anyone have any updates?
  15. Lioness - it's time for a cold shower.
  16. There's no D Walsh listed in the Glasgow averages for 1971 frigbo, so I guess he was possibly an Oxford junior pressed into service for a short staffed Glasgow team?
  17. Great to see the site improving all the time Sidecar - Great Job. Pic 3 - Brendon leads from (I think Steve Koppe) Pic 5 - Look at the crowd behind Barney - Halcyon days indeed - Prospective promoters look at the potential we have at Canterbury - go on, take a chance!!!!!
  18. I wouldn't complain at that Kevin, but don't tell the other Bees fans I've said that ;-) OK - It can be our little secret. ;-)
  19. I'll echo that and I expect him to do the same in the ELRC.
  20. Not many I bet - cos he was Polish.
  21. Chris Turner b. 28/5/1958, Crewe, Cheshire. Grass tracker who had his first taste of speedway, aged 14, at the Belle Vue training school. He made his public debut for Belle Vue early in 1974. The following season he rode 3 matches for Belle Vue and achieved an average of 8.32 from 26 league matches with Crewe in the National League. Taken from Who's Who of Speedway 1975. Any use Gem?
