  1. Deano to some extent that is where I got my theory from mate! I posted the link earlier http://translate.google.co.uk/translate?hl...KI_Zbigniew.htm
  2. I would not rely to much on Phil's recollection in the 1965 Post. It was 9 years on and on viewing the footage I can see little grass between the riders and the stairs and I can see no evidence of him climbing back on his machine? On reading the Polish reports with no knowledge of polish, my best guess is that Zbigniew clipped Phil's back wheel whilst changing line on the corner turned into the line of the rider outside of him, that may well have been the other pole. It looks as if Zbigniew was trying to get off the bike but clashed with the other rider which sent him into the stairs. The other rider was seriously lucky not to hit the stairs. As for the Poles being told to win or Kill yourself, I think this a little far fetched but made good copy! From what I have read the poles did not like the conditions at the stadium and nearly pulled out.
  3. This link mentions Phil Bisop but the translation is poor See here
  4. I think the other rider involved may have been Phil Bishop! But my translation on a piece i read may be incorrect.
  5. He rode for West Ham 1931 11 League matches 27.5pts ave 2.5
  6. Why do you follow............a no mark team.......... like Poole then.........???????
  7. Stuart & John have done a fantastic job at lakeside since they took over, but they did not cover themselves in glory on this particular project. I think there main priority was to get some silverware for the first time which they achieved last night . This is not an excuse but an explanation. Lets hope they do not forget the project next season and prove it was not just a promotional exercise to fill a gap. Sadly I think gap filling was the main priority! I my opinion, there could have been some mileage in this event if handled correctly, It's just sad there are no London clubs anymore.
  8. Picky Picky! Should I clarify that and say league racing in England. But then I doubt if he returned in 65, we would have seen as much of Sverre at Custom House
  9. Hear Hear Also what about Bjorn Knutsson who sadly stayed in Sweden in 1965
  10. The last time I saw your rear end Jim there was plenty of substance
  11. Hi mate sorry, although I would love to organise said event I am still full time employed doing 2 jobs and not to mention my cricket commitments. Time constraints dictate I’m afraid. I have not yet joined the ranks of the Bus Pass brigade! Another year perhaps I was just pointing out the problem which could occur if you run 2 events. which would make anyone thinking of running at High Beech reconsider shutting the door on any future event. From a purely business point of view I think it is better to hold satellite events at different sites advertising the product not one off specials at the main venue
  12. Hi Norman hope you are well! Perhaps the speedway Museum event could be held on another date allowing someone a chance to run an event at High Beech. (Traditional date) running 2 events on the same day would not be helpful to either party I by the way I would be happy to attend High Beech. I see the museum as an all year round thing that could be promoted at High Beech Ray
  13. I have some sympathy with you, but it all falls down in a 3 generation situation when the daughter didn't ride However for the purpose of the thread I have no problem with the comparison.
  14. You and your bloody handlebars Get a life man, one day it might get you into trouble
  15. Yep so I heard, sorry I missed you. I gave that one a miss! Had a great game of golf though
  16. I do worry about you somtimes Andy! I think you need to get out more
  17. Where you a backstraight boy?
  18. Get in touch it would be nice to meet you I always stand on the backstraight at Lakeside as I did at Custom House until they pulled it down!
  19. Unknown Golfer Keith Gurtner WEst Ham at the time
  20. I think horse trotting tracks of 1000M plus, bear little resembelace of the speedway we know of today. However, I believe the 1st Loose surface Motor cycle race took place in South Africa at Pietermaritzburgh in Natal in 1907. I am of course here to be shot down in flames!
  21. I went to a couple of world finals at Wembly in 69 and in 1981 after giving up on speedway in 1971 only returning to the fold in 2003. also went to Cardiff in 2006 Of the one off and the GP I prefer the one off final. I wish I had known more about the 81 world final as it was a one off for me and I only recognised a couple of names at that time!
