  5. Johnnie Hoskins!!! The history of the 'Hammers' season 1928-39 Paragraph "On may 2nd 1929, Bluey Wilkinson made his 1st appearnce riding a douglas. He rode off 5secs.. Handicap and was unplaced in his heat. later in the evening Bluey won a heat of the Golden Gauntlet at 37.19 m.p.h with reg Bounds second. He was beaten by Vic huxley in the semi, which was won at 39.96 m.p.h. Bluey was in the team one week and out the next. Tiger, however, rode consistantly well and except for accidents never missed a match." Perhaps Jonnie may have been wrong it is not unheard of !
  6. Assuming you mean 1st meeting in GB then it was 2nd of may 1929 his first ride was a match race on a douglas and he was unplaced! later in the meeting he beat Reg Bounds in a heat of the golden Gauntlet in 37.19MPH

  15. I went on the off chance! a bit of a blip for me as I stopped going to speedway in 1971! and did'nt go again until Arena 2002 Did see a few finals in the 60's As a bit of a floater I thought it was ok not sure about most of the riders except O Olsen and Dave Jessup as I recall. Was Impressed with Penhall but not that much with the meeting, or i would have come back sooner!
  16. Norman any informayion about the magazine and Mr Finch would be helpful! could you PM me thanks Ray

  18. Dave lanning used to get booed at Custom House! (Well i did anyway) and he was the West Ham Manager at the time!
  19. Perhaps Linback should learn to ride like Hans then Crump may not have made the final! (Playing for the professional foul in football)
  20. Some riders including in yesterday's incident stroll around like big girl blouses when a call does against them! With Scott it is a matter of double standards; as he did exactly the same as Hans when Kilmo was taken off by him at Arena! That decision could have gone either way! To be fair Hans was unlucky but if you give the ref the option you may suffer the consequences! And Hans does ride overly hard at times!
  21. Yep he is a bit of a tart! Great rider but a tart! I suggest younger riders should look at the way Mark Loram handles himself!
