  1. Just seemed an odd decision after all the previous hard work. If the match was in the bag, it’s different.
  2. Wow what a memory. My parents have a Weymouth wizards prog from the 70’s. When we lived there 80-84 they were the wildcats, which I think was better.
  3. there is a topic on this very documentary already.
  4. There are plenty of people in the U.K. with money to burn. You only have to look at the money thrown at Football for zero return. Once the powers that be reduce the outgoings to be lower than what comes in, the sport can look forward. Until then it’s going nowhere.
  5. Thanks for sharing that. It reminded me of a programme Channel 4 did in the early nineties and it followed Gary Havelock and Martin Dugard and their families. It led up to a behind the scenes view of the GB world team cup final at Coventry that year. It basically told the same story, down to hardcore fans, dying sport etc etc. If TV did another one now I'm pretty sure it would tell the same story.
  6. He’s pretty much saved Birmingham Speedway. That’ll look good on anyones CV. Personally for doing that he deserves freedom of the City.
  7. I really feel for you guys. Keep the faith.
  8. Farmers use muck spreaders or use heavy equipment to dig deep trenches around their caravans by us, they move on in less than 24 hours. There's no messing around.
  9. Pay a nasty bloke who’ll make one or two of them disappear.
  10. https://goo.gl/maps/nT9ktnyYYaRVuAQo9 No wonder I’d never seen it. I’ve driven down the main road, not up Edwards towards the baths.
  11. Where is it? I go through Erdington a lot and have never clapped eyes on it.
  12. Lol , that one ended well didn’t it. Shame really.
  13. Secund that, now one and I mean now one can spell or speak proper outsyde of birmingum.
  14. Buxton Raceway 01663 732526 https://goo.gl/maps/PjeG1NGJoyNVW2ov7
  15. Simply because its only the current crop of promoters that can save and grow what we have. Sharing that burden is a start. The only other solution is to change the sports expenses to be less than the outgoings. That will attract people with money who wish to make more money. But that doesn't seem to be happening.
  16. And the reason they struggle a dwindling dying fan base. Every track closure loses hundreds of fans and a promoter until they both become too small to support anything. We had money from TV coming in until the recent deal, money that went back out the sport none invested and kept in the sport.
  17. You could be right, it is difficult to pin down . My other guess would be we’ve bred a generation that sits in front of the Xbox or YouTube. Very few kids want to walk out the front door these days. Streaming for me is important to capture that generation as you won’t get them through the turnstiles very easily.
  18. In the speedway world if a single promotion isn’t prepared to take a risk and a punt on their life savings, no new tracks like at Burton will appear. If though a collective BSPL shared promotion could be agreed and take 50% of the start up costs, more tracks might appear.
  19. Correct, some clubs appear okay. Speedway as a whole appears to be in terminal decline though. I really don’t have the answer.
  20. Very chicken and egg though Martin. No tracks no riders no riders no tracks what came first?
  21. Plus promoters spend that much on riders and rent there’s then no cash for advertising and presentation. The final two are what generally contribute getting people through the turnstiles.
  22. Football, cricket, takeaway, trip to the pub all seem higher up the priority list.
  23. What happened to Collier Street? I must have missed that one closing.
