Hi everyone, apologies, but it's a bit of a call to arms and we are asking the speedway community to help us on the current Birmingham Local Plan. So Birmingham Council have issued for consultation "The Birmingham Local Plan Regulation 19 Publication Plan" which closes 24th September 2026 This plan is designed to hit their housing targets for the next 18 years. In that plan is Policy GZ14, within that policy is paragraph 19.10. This paragraph references the the demolition of Perry Barr Stadium. It states "Efforts are being made to develop replacement speedway provision at an alternative venue" and "The long term lease holder is exploring options for the future of the site". This isn't water tight enough to keep Birmingham Speedway. We need to stop this plot of land being made available for redevelopment in housing. This is where we are begging for your help. We need to get the wording changed in Policy GZ14 19.10 and unfortunately they don't have an email facility, it needs to be through the Birmingham Council Consultation Portal. Portal found here: https://consult.birmingham.gov.uk/kse/ So, when you have a spare couple of hours, it's easier on a lap top, a phone can be a bit more clunky (not impossible) using the portal. If on a mobile press the word "Proposal" to view the document and not the headings. Press on of the "Add Comments" and register on the protal. Once registered it'll take you back to the document. You can either scroll down very laboriously until you get to GZ14 and within that section the paragraph 19.10 If on a mobile you could look for "Perry Barr" in the contents and click the ">" icon, to zoom to GZ14. Dont press anything else, you come out of the document and have to re-press go to event again. If on a laptop press the word Perry Barr, not the ">" as again it'll push you out of the document, it really is that user friendly. Look for the paragraph 19.10 and click add comment, one the next screen the paragraph contents should be displayed at the top. Populate your Name, Email, Commenting on behalf of myself, agree to the terms and conditions, agree to the private policy. Press "Next" First Box, Do you considered the plan to be legally compliant. Here you need to add something like "in GZ14 19.10 you must not develop Perry Barr Stadium to anything other than a venue or facility for the Birmingham Brummies to race speedway". I disagree, in sorts, as people are interested, speedway just can't keep people interested. My lad at 15, is now interested in speedway and to be honest he does talk a bit excessively to me about it. He supports Birmingham and has managed to get at least another five of his schools mates to go along with him. But..... we lost just about every single match over the past two seasons and even got ourselves promoted half way through that losing streak! So his interest is now mainly Polish speedway, GP's and team GB. He's also really disappointed the Alan Grahame meeting never materialised, again. When you introduce new people to the sport, it's the same old problems... same riders each week, but a different team. I have to keep reminding people that speedway isn't run like the Warwickshire Bears or Aston Villa. Especially when these kids go to both of those too. Warwickshire bears had a live band and disco after the last game we went to, we had a great time. There was a lively atmosphere and Warwickshire lost on that occasion as well. I think if there is a future, we need to be told, do we have one, or will we be lost again. I most certainly won't be travelling for my fix. I wish Wolverhampton, Cradley and Coventry fans all the best with their endeavours, but I won't be watching.

I know one of the former contestants from many many years ago. She did tell me that some scenarios edited together, were from different days. Someone behind camera wound her up to get an angry expression, this was edited into another scene to get the impression she had a dislike for some ones idea. So many sports have disappeared behind pay per view, so much rubbish thrust in our faces on terrestrial, I include obscure live FA cup matches controlling the tv schedule all the time. The six nations might be the the next tournament to disappear as it isn't protected like the Rugby World Cup is. I hate football with a passion there are many tens of millions like me out there.

Reading what’s going on with Torquay United and the money Osborne has admitted to pumping in. Makes you wonder when the “long term viability” and the need to move away will suddenly raise its head for Torquay. It starts to make sense that we should all join together in helping preserve current stadiums.

You could add and also wanting BE to build on Brandon stadium. To allow someone to be in partnership with a guy who has such an open negative agenda against anything related to speedway is a reason in itself to have zero faith in the BSPL.

Does make you think, when the application was approved, it wasn't very water tight. Osborne isn't a spring chicken these days, one day he will get tired, hopefully sooner rather than later.

Lets hope any other version, doesn't yield them any profit, after all the costs incurred so far.
