I guess the licence can be taken away. But not the ownership of the Swindon Robins in itself.
-
Anyone else follow AEPG on Facebook? They’ve now switched off commenting on posts. So they/he were clearly rattled.
-
Quick answer. Ain’t got a foggy.
-
For the first time I see speedway advertisements on the back of buses! Nigel really has tried. It does make you wonder what more can they do.
-
I really feel sorry for Nigel. You’d think apart from the usual business like challenges running a speedway club would be fun. Running Birmingham Speedway feels almost like bordering on the impossible !
-
Exactly! Keep the hundreds of potential new clubs on hold until they are needed lol
-
Which kind of makes the statement made from Phil Morris at the BE appeal seem a bit daft.
-
And Ludvig at that lol.

That’s AEPG’s only funding stream I believe.

Who COULD Have Been a Major Force in World Speedway?

Sorry just went along with the thread title. -
https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/bringbacksouthamptonspeedway?fbclid=IwAR0UJEMUR_bz5JExTwH9ndFaX-CPj2xDPdIY3EgAGLZtJSNbLK5MKY3LGm8 This was the crowd funding page for it. There were plans drawn up, but since the person leading it died it’s all gone quiet.

Dave Jessup seemed to miss out on a lot due to mechanical gremlins. Certainly in some of the footage I’ve seen anyway. -
Not sure Ray, this was the one I was thinking of. There are still small remnants of the racing circuit. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Crystal+Palace+National+Sports+Centre/@51.4207,-0.0754976,1123m/data=!3m2!1e3!5s0x487601680ceb81d5:0x245bc60de3f5638c!4m6!3m5!1s0x487601685d729577:0xab6c3c3ae0044d1!8m2!3d51.4210847!4d-0.0674402!16zL20vMDIwcTc1?entry=ttu

Is that the old saloon racing circuit?

Tony Mole owned the license to Birmingham Brummies Speedway from 1986. Only Tony had sole option to re-open the club in 2007.
-
Interesting, although a little confusing, all the same.
-
I think the point he’s making is promoters found a way. Yes we have more going against speedway in terms of venues these days. If there was money to be made by promoting speedway tracks would open.
-
Pretty much yes. It might be worth you digging it out on you tube.
-
Is this where I mention Slough?
-
Didn’t Birmingham get permission in Nov for a March start?
-
I read brown envelopes all the time on cov’s Facebook group as well. It’s frustrating as it just makes our job harder.
-
2030 seems a long way away, but can we expect development before then. I’d hazard a guess probably not.
-
I guess the only way they would, is if they didn’t think they’d get there money. If I owed the Albert Hall and thought it were a risk, I’d ask for a large proportion up front, or some kind of guarantee. But if speedway has been there x years and has a proven return by a reliable promotion, then there shouldn’t be any issues.
-
To a speedway fan, not a lot, to a Brummies fan everything.

I do feel for Nigel, he wants to get going, but all the uncertainties outside of his control dictate his progress every season.
