Cheers tomcat, much appreciated ... so some riders have a common respect for each other, which may have been what the rider in the interview was eluding about years ago. Can't imagine many riders having a common respect for Nicki P.
-
A rider actually said it in an interview once years ago. If a rider is quicker and is going to pass you, you may as well let him work for it and leave a bit of room rather than both ending up in the fence and out for weeks. He then went on to say the Americans were the most gentlemanly when leaving room, the Brits were the worst for closing the gap. Perhaps it just doesn't happen anymore, hence why nobody has heard of it.
-
I fear Russia maybe another Poland in the making but bigger. They'll get money thrown at them by the big money Russians when in the bigger meetings now they are proving themselves.
-
Isn't there a "gentlemans" agreement that the rider in front will leave a bit of room if there is a quicker rider behind. Perhaps Nicki wrongly assumed he would leave a bit and didn't.

Bfd's Grand Day Out - Tour Dates Released;
Deano replied to BigFatDave's topic in International World of Speedway
I agree Jimjam Bluejam, what a fantastically likable bloke BFD is. He is as funny in real life, as he is on here, especially the story about the Kirby's! Enjoy the rest of the tour BFD.. and I hope you make many more friends. -
Good job that particular sponsor isn't on his left bum cheek!

You are right... I thought the same as ML. The rider going into the pits (in front of Scott and Emil) clearly goes behind the pit gate to enter the pits. Which does mean Scott impedes Emil.

Ha ha... our posts look really silly now!

There's lots about this in the other Cardiff thread. http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/ind...0&start=210

As Scott was walking down the pit tunnel after the incident, Emils pit crew came running up towards the track. As the one ran past he shoulder barged and pushed Scott to the floor. Scott got back up and was flustered for a while while he located his goggles and gloves... he was then ushered away into the pits. Emils pit crew were nowhere to be seen. To me Scott did nothing wrong, any man would stand their corner like he did. Emil riding him into the pit gate was the straw that broke the camels back.

This one? Shame, they probably still had crowds that we would envy over here. You could still take photo's and send them into speedwayplus?

The Decline Of Leigh Adams
Deano replied to geeze's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Just because he's peaked doesn't mean he can't still be your favourite rider. How shallow! -

Another Ridiculous Exclusion
Deano replied to Brummie Boy's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I remember either Johnson or Tattum commentating on an incident like this some time ago on SKY. A similar incident and the rider on the outside was excluded, their take on it was. When going down the straight and you are in line with the rider on the inside at some point that back wheel will swing out. If it takes you off, you will be excluded as it's your responsibility to allow for it. We see this countless times in league racing so why should the decisions be any different at GP level! I'm no Nicki fan, but, Emil didn't need to pull that stunt either he could have passed him on the inside again like the previous bend. -
Another Ridiculous Exclusion
Deano replied to Brummie Boy's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
So are we all saying that a refs decision should now be based on the riders involved and not the incident? It was a dodgy decision. -
So we don't like any of the commentary team then? No wonder they don't listen, there are very very few exceptional commentators and all of those are booked for the big audience sports. We are a minority so will only get what's left, every time.

Just do what the Irish do..... if you are a 700th generation decendant or a cousin 900 times removed ... your in!

Some people on here do have a habit of picking up on errors and detail rather than answering the question or topic sometimes don't they.? I actually favour a seven man team format with just two teams per meeting over two weeks, like the football world cup. But this will never happen as it would be unviable and there isn't enough riders and neither is there enough quality teams. Although this would open the gates for the likes of wales and scotland to compete although the usual few teams will stand heads and shoulders above others.

Question About The Year Sam Ermolenko Was World Champ
Deano replied to Deano's topic in Years Gone By
Cheers gents... I had a feeling I wasn't going nuts and he did discuss it. Shame it never happened. -
If my memory serves me correctly, when Sam Ermolenko became world champion, he said in an interview for the Speedway Star he wished to participate in match races. This was to race the highest home scorer at every track including Division two tracks over the following season, to help bring bodies through the turnstiles. Did he ever complete this feat? If not did it ever get off the ground? Did he win them all or some? I can't remember him doing it which is why I'm asking.
