  1. The real mistake was his attempt to overtake Holta on the 3rd-4th turns of the first lap - sometimes you've got to settle for what you have. And Harris had a reasonably secure second - should've concentrated on keeping the former British champion behind him. But, as it goes, I still think the former British champion got away with it.
  2. Well, that was only because the race was stopped - he had, after all, passed Jonsson at the time of the incident. But they happened at different stages of the corner, when Harris was in a more stable situation.
  3. Sorry, but that's clutching at straws - completely different situations.
  4. Don't forget they look at the startline girls milling around on the centre green when the on-track action is so tediously dull they can't stand it thanks to another Olsen bore fest, young Ole.
  5. And here it is: So, an ill-advised attempt to overtake Holta coming out of the 4th bend on lap 1 also plays a role in the downfall of Harris. Still, the former British champion does, as Kelvin Tatum MBE so eloquently put it, have 'im off.
  6. I suppose not, but you do need to learn how to use the quote function.
  7. And at Glasgow in the Ashfield Classic the day before. According to slav (on another board here), he should've been chucked out of a meeting in Wroclaw after the incident when Davey Watt was injured and then didn't he have some "handbags" with Andersen after a clash in the Tomicek Memorial meeting? Which should all make his clash with Desperate Deek "interesting".
  8. Not sure if I could swollow them, but I'd certainly swallow them. As for the maximum for his country, presumably referring to the Coventry round of the SWC, I was hearty in my praise of the guy (even to the extent that a quote of mine was used in signatures here), but did say that I suspected it would be a different story in Leszno. And it was, with only third places and a second against a higher grade of opposition. But, after a shaky start, he's done better than I expected in the GPs this season and he's qualified by right for 2008, so fair play to the guy. It's not his fault the referee made a wrong decision.
  9. I'd hope most riders would - hardly crime of the century, was it? Did he knock Harris off? I thought so. Should be have been excluded? I thought so. But automatic qualification was hanging in the balance and he had to go for it. He got lucky, such is life. But Harris ought to have learnt an important lesson - the GP season doesn't end with Cardiff.
  10. Then this was "fair and known to all", since it's been in the rule book all season.
  11. But what form of countback? Ah yes, the type that favours your particular agenda to have both of your men qualify. The fairest means would surely have been a standard deviation of the results over the course of the year. This would give priority to the rider with the greatest consistency of scores over the GP season.
  12. Well, Holta has an advantage in that department - he's probably about the lightest guy in the GPs.
  13. S Nicholls..56 GPs..0 wins H Andersen..42 GPs..3 wins
  14. The qualification process would, of course, be better if some riders didn't think themselves above it.
  15. I reckon the wild cards will be C Harris A Jonsson F Lindgren J Hampel or K Kasprzak Slightly tough on Zagar, who'll not be afforded a second chance while others, including a former British champion, have had so many. I don't think Hampel deserves a wild card, but he might just sneak it ahead of Kasprzak.
  16. Okay, here's an interesting one. The race-off was held prior to the final, which was, of course, the climax of the night. But if Jonsson had won his semi-final, he'd have still been in with a chance of getting into the race-off. So, in that case, the £100,000 prize race would surely have been the second last race of the night.
  17. Thought the Parken was out of commission for 2008 due to re-construction works?
  18. Hancock invariably does well on the temporary tracks.
  19. Or Chris Harris'. I don't think Hampel deserves a nomination - he's had chances before and not produced the goods.
  20. What I don't "get" about the whole race-off situation is why Sky believed Harris should have first choice. They kept saying he'd been better than the other two. But, if he had, he wouldn't have been in the race-off, would he? They all scored 91 points, so how the hell did Harris have a better season than the other two?
  21. Harris should be angry with two people, neither of whom is the former British champion. He should be angry with the referee (if there actually was one) for not excluding the former British champion after shoving him off in that race-off. He should be angry with himself for the complacency that saw him throw away a secure place in the standings - all this 4-5 points nonsense cost him and cost him dearly.
  22. Well, we'll see - a long time to go before the tapes go up on the 2008 season. Plenty of time for a Jonsson change of heart. After all, we were told over and over again that Coventry were the only team for him in the UK.
  23. Well, I don't think he should get a nomination, but he probably will.
