  1. Just because a "free-for-all" has been established, doesn't mean it has to happen. Hopefully, some clubs, maybe Bydgoszcz and Tarnow, will see the sense in continuing to rely on their own development of talent.
  2. I believe that, a few years down the line, Polish speedway will regret this decision.
  3. As I said, it was up to the clubs to act. It seems they have. But I believe they'll come to regret it in the future.
  4. Jason Crump to remain with Torun? Krzysztof Kasprzak to Gdansk?
  5. Dear me, it looks like we're heading towards blaming the drugs crisis the country faces now on a handful of American speedway riders from the early-to-mid-1980s.
  6. It is a bit of a hike to get to "Part 1" of the hotel. Anyway, snowed last night and snowing now in Prague.
  7. I guess Walasek's now around 30-31 and his GP chances have passed him by. If he still has GP ambitions, I guess he's missed out on entry for 2006 and will be expecting Zielona Gora to be back in the Ekstra Liga for 2007. As for Poland, I guess that's up to the Polish team manager. Worth noting that PK (rode for Sweden in the SWC), Max (would've ridden for Sweden if he hadn't been injured) and Loram (would probably've ridden for England if he hadn't been injured) all ride in the Polish second tier. And so does Pawel Hlib who was included in Poland's squad.
  8. I see that sportowefakty.pl has Grzegorz Walasek signed for Zielona Gora. That has to make Zielona Gora strong favourites to return to the Ekstra Liga in 2007. In fact, sportowefakty.pl have 10 riders already signed for Zielona Gora, including 6 juniors. I guess they'll be looking to hang on to Lee Richardson as a foreign rider? Looks like the good times could be returning to Zielona Gora.
  9. I'm not sure the old Mongol legs will forgive me. Actually, once you get past the castle it's not such a bad walk. Prague is as glorious as ever. Today is a public holiday in the Czech Republic to remember an event in 1989 that led to the fall of Gustav Husak's communists. The weather is okay, although there's a possibility of snow in the next couple of days.
  10. Well, this morning I tested my theory that you can walk from Vaclavske namesti to the stadion u Markety in around about 40 minutes. From the starting point of my hotel (Hotel Cloister Inn - Joanne knows it), it took me 43 minutes to reach the stadion u Markety.
  11. That's very true Grachan. King really had a stellar first couple of seasons in the UK and then missed out in, I think 1985, and never really recovered.
  12. Didn't Exeter have a rider called, if memory serves, Buddy Robinson in 1984? Can't remember him being much of a success. And a bit of a controversial one - Lance King. King was a partial success, but surely he never really fulfilled his potential.
  13. I wouldn't stand just yet young fellow. You're going off BSI and I'm going off what Mateusz said in another thread (see below).
  14. I understand that the Bydgoszcz GP will be the finale for the season in 2006, with a date of 9 or 23 September, depending on Latvia. If Latvia goes ahead, Bydgoszcz will be 23 September.
  15. I don't see why he shouldn't. Unless he has commitments in Poland. I'd imagine Jonsson, TR, Crump, Adams, Gollob and Co will be heading off for league action in Poland on the Sunday.
  16. The very fact that Bydgoszcz is "very Eastern bloc" is, in itself, a huge tourist attraction. There's a growing fascination with the old Soviet Bloc. What's the most visited attraction in Berlin? You guessed it, the remnants of the Berlin Wall and Checkpoint Charlie.
  17. The forum's very own Darija should be able to help you out. Her father owns the stadium and her brother is the highly-rated Jurica Pavlic. I imagine he'll be riding for Croatia and Matej Zagar for Slovenia.
  18. Obviously, fairy4ever forgets the silly traffic signs in the village you drive through to get there. The ones that tell you to slow down when you're doing 22 mph (it's a 30 mph zone). I bet the silly things tell pedestrians to slow down.
  19. Think it's as simple as people just not liking Ole Olsen.
  20. Well, here's a little site regarding other aspects of Czestochowa: http://www.czestochowa.pl/languages/en?set_language=en
  21. Well, I've seen photographs of the "old" stadium being demolished, so you've got to hope it'll be built. Or Czestochowa will be without a home. Whether it's built to the plans is another matter. Edit: And here's the "old" stadium being demolished: http://sportowefakty.pl/index.php?dysc_id=...5&news_id=84084
  22. I notice that Czestochowa's stadium is being completely revamped during the close season and the plans for the stadium look hugely impressive: http://www.stadionckm.com/ Click on "Projekt" to see the plans. With such "state of the art" facilities, surely Czestochowa must have potential as a GP venue?
  23. It may be a "shed", but it looks like it's going to be BSI's shed.
  24. The shazzybird comment, from Live Updates, during the SWC round at Swindon. Come on young lady, you were cheering for him that night and in the final.
  25. Andersen went into the qualifiers in 2004, so I don't see why not. More to the point, will Nicholls and Richardson deign to enter the qualifiers?
