Damien Balinski Query
Subedei replied to REAR WHEEL ROOST DUDE's topic in International World of Speedway
There's two of them, Senior and Junior. Balinski Snr was born in 1977 and has ridden for Unia Leszno since 1994. He averaged 7.40 in this season's Ekstra Liga, which placed him 21st in the averages. He was involved in the notorious "Holta" incident and lost his licence as a result. However, his appeal against the decision was successful and his licence was reinstated. Balinski Jnr is just starting his career, at Unia Leszno, and has ridden a couple of meetings without scoring. -
And Janusz Kolodziej is the Polish champion, so I don't think such things are taken into account, except when the need arises (British champion and consistent GP failure Nicholls, for example). Assuming you mean next season (2006), if Iversen's 16th then he's worse than Chrzanowski. He finished 15th. To finish 16th means one of the one-off-GP wildcards has done better than him. Nicholls and Richardson for a start. All they've done to gain entry is be British.
-
But does deserve a chance ahead of some chosen.
-
Haven't you heard orion? That's all been forgiven and forgotten. They're best of buddies now. And Andersen's guesting for Poole this week.
-
And Nicholls rides Eskilstuna week in and week out, but he didn't make the final. Jonsson rides at Bydgoszcz week in and week out, but he didn't make the final. Hampel rides at Wroclaw week in and week out, but he didn't make the final. And Andy Smith used to ride week in and week out at Coventry, but he didn't make the final when the GP was staged there. Problem is, the qualifier did have a final race and Andersen didn't finish it. That's his problem, not Chrzanowski. If the Prague GP hadn't had semis and a final, Nicholls would've won it. But they did and he didn't. Not as if people turned up at the qualifier not knowing there'd be a final. You get to the final and take your chances. Chrzanowski did, Andersen didn't. Tough. Last I heard, TR was the track record holder at Krsko. He certainly broke the track record in the GP earlier this season. Don't believe everything Millard says.
-
And that's the point Andersen's making. And that's why he's apparently going to seek clarification regarding his exclusion. And what a very good case he has. I doubt he'll get clarification. There is just no possible justification for the inclusion of Nicholls and Richardson at the expense of Andersen.
-
He [smith] never made a final, did he? Zagar has. Doesn't alter the fact that Chrzanowski came through the qualifiers. Not his problem that Andersen's engine gave up.
-
You see, if I remember correctly, the thing about qualifiers is that there's always those riders who don't believe they need to lower themselves to qualifying. And as long as there's "permanent wild cards", there'll always be riders who don't see why they need to qualify when Uncle John at BSI will see them okay.
-
The thing is, Chrzanowski came through the qualifying system.
-
I waited until all the nominations were made before contacting BSI. Of their picks: Nicholls has had too many chances and always failed. Richardson is there because he's British and will do nothing. Hampel is justified and should storm into the top 8. Lindback showed promise and deserved another go, but I think he'd benefit from a year out. Iversen is 2006's Chrzanowski. Protasiewicz has had loads of chances and never done anything. Zagar has much to prove, but after Krsko probably deserves a go.
-
I've written to BSI expressing my disgust.
-
The FIM prostituted as they are to BSI, shame speedway by degrading the world championship. But the chance is now there for the European Championship to make strides and move into a position to challenge the GPs.
-
Should be an interesting communication. But my guess is that he won't be getting one. There is no justifiable explanation.
-
Nicki P to Torun with Crump going to Wroclaw? Robert Kosciecha to Bydgoszcz?
-
Well, of those permanent wildcards (if they're accurate), only Hampel stands any chance of getting into the top 8 next time around. Edit: http://www.zuzelend.com/php.php?akcja=czyt...97f36b6f32e7f0d

I didn't want rumours, just wondered if you knew why Vastervik were so quiet on the signing front.
-
What's happening with the champs tarabanko? Only about a week to go and all they've got signed is BP.
-
Now, I could be wrong, but isn't Coventry near Stratford-upon-Avon? And isn't Stratford-upon-Avon a very popular tourist destination?
-
Yet you don't object to having 40,000 rattling around in a half empty Millennium.
-
Thought it was a speedway tournament, but obviously BSI have decided to race along the beach on donkeys.
-
Be better at the UK's premier speedway city, which, at the minute, is Coventry. A better stadium and easier to get to.

Ekstra Liga Grand Final - 25-09-05
Subedei replied to Subedei's topic in International World of Speedway
And here's the result: Gdansk versus Ostrow - 16-10-05 So, having won in the first leg in Ostrow, Gdansk will be looking to stroll through this meeting and so maintain their Ekstra Liga status. But can Ostrow upset their apple cart? Ekstra Liga Grand Final - 25-09-05
Subedei replied to Subedei's topic in International World of Speedway
No, re-scheduled (again) for tomorrow. -
Chrzanowski did, at least, qualify on merit. There were 5 riders who didn't. And 4 of them didn't do much better than Chrzanowski. If Chrzanowski was British, there's a fair chance he'd be in the GPs next season.

Olsen is said to favour Kolodziej.
