Well, Jason Crump didn't get much change out of the Gollobs tonight.

The second of the play-off meetings scheduled for 21 August, 2005, sees current world champ Jason Crump's Torun facing the man set to depose him Tony Rickardsson's Tarnow. The regular season's results would suggest this could be a real "cracker" as the aggregate score for the league meetings between the sides this season was 91-89 in favour of Torun. Tarnow won their home fixture 49-41, while Torun won on their home track by 50-40. ------------------------------ Tarnow..62 9..S Nicholls..2,3,3,1',3 = 12+1 10..S Burza..1',2',0 = 3+2 11..J Gollob..2,3,3,3,3 = 14 12..G Rempala..1',1,0 = 2+1 13..T Gollob..3,3,3,3,2' = 14+1 14..M Rempala..1,2',1,2' = 6+2 15..J Kolodziej..3,2',2',2,2' = 11+3 Torun..28 1..J Crump..3,1,1,2,2,0 = 9 2..M Jagus..0 = 0 3..W Jagus..3,2,0,1,3,1 = 10 4..M Puszakowski..0,0,0,2,0 = 2 5..A Smith..1,0,1',1 = 3+1 6..K Zabik..2,0,1,0,1' = 4+1 7..A Miedzinski..0,0,0 = 0 Ht 1..Kolodziej, Zabik, M Rempala, Miedzinski [E/F] 4-2 (4-2) Ht 2..Crump, Nicholls, Burza, M Jagus 3-3 (7-5) Ht 3..W Jagus, J Gollob, G Rempala, Puszakowski 3-3 (10-8) Ht 4..T Gollob, M Rempala, Smith, Zabik [Ex] 5-1 (15-9) Ht 5..J Gollob, Kolodziej, Crump, Miedzinski 5-1 (20-10) Ht 6..T Gollob, W Jagus, M Rempala, Puszakowski 4-2 (24-12) Ht 7..Nicholls, Kolodziej, Zabik, Smith 5-1 (29-13) Ht 8..T Gollob, M Rempala, Crump, W Jagus 5-1 (34-14) Ht 9..Nicholls, Burza, W Jagus, Puszakowski 5-1 (39-15) Ht 10..J Gollob, Crump, G Rempala, Zabik [Ex] 4-2 (43-17) Ht 11..W Jagus, Kolodziej, Nicholls, Miedzinski 3-3 (46-20) Ht 12..J Gollob, Crump, Zabik, G Rempala [Ex] 3-3 (49-23) Ht 13..T Gollob, Puszakowski, Smith, Burza 3-3 (52-26) Ht 14..Nicholls, Kolodziej, Smith, Puszakowski 5-1 (57-27) Ht 15..J Gollob, T Gollob, W Jagus, J Crump 5-1 (62-28) ------------------------------ Notes: 1..Scott Nicholls makes his home debut for Tarnow, replacing Tony Rickardsson. 2..Another Ekstra Liga meeting with too many sets of brothers in it. 3..Ht 4 and Zabik is up to mischief and excluded for Torun. 4..Ht 5 and Kolodziej replaces G Rempala for Tarnow, while Miedzinski replaces M Jagus for Torun. 5..Ht 7 and Kolodziej replaces Burza for Tarnow. 6..Ht 8 and W Jagus replaces M Jagus in a tactical move by Torun. 7..Ht 10 and Crump replaces Smith in a tactical move by Torun. 8..Ht 10 and Zabik is up to mischief again and excluded for Torun. 9..Ht 11 and Kolodziej replaces M Rempala for Tarnow, while Miedzinski replaces Puszakowski for Torun. 10..Ht 12 and G Rempala is up to mischief and is excluded for Torun. 11..Ht 13 and M Puszakowski replaces M Jagus in a tactical move by Torun. 12..Ht 14 and the line-up is Nicholls-Kolodziej for Tarnow and Smith-Puszakowski for Torun. 13..Ht 15 and the line-up is T Gollob-J Gollob for Tarnow and Crump-W Jagus for Torun. 14..Ht 15 and a 5-1 for the Gollobs gives Tarnow a massive lead to take to Torun. ------------------------------ Bonus points calculated per British Elite League. The first of the play-off meetings scheduled for 21 August, 2005, sees Ryan Sullivan's Czestochowa host Andreas Jonsson's Bydgoszcz. And the regular season doesn't provide much comfort for Czestochowa, as Bydgoszcz won both meetings (50-40 at Bydgoszcz and 46-44 at Czestochowa). And Bydgoszcz finished the season in mightly impressive form. And so it's time for the shootout at the Ekstra Liga's last chance saloon between Zielona Gora and Gdansk. Whoever loses this two-legged encounter departs the Ekstra Liga. And you have to say that Zielona Gora hardly deserve to remain in the top flight, after managing a mere 4 points in the regular season. But you never know, do you? I've moved to the Live Updates site Rico. I do my little updates there and then transfer them across to here to save bandwidth. But, on this occasion, I'll not need to. I started when this site was down a while ago and have just continued. I'm expecting a big Tarnow win over Torun. But it seems TR prefers racing in a car to racing for Tarnow today. As you say, a huge 5-1 for Bydgoszcz in Ht 15. Certainly puts them in the driving seat. But Jonsson and Sawina a bit subdued. Maybe the lay-off between the end of the regular season and the play-offs affected them. They were certainly in fine form towards the end of the regular season.

I see Tomasz Gollob is wearing his SWC uniform in the practice. Will he be wearing it for the Bydgoszcz GP? -
Okay, time for another of our 1 stop shops for a GP. A place for predictions, any meeting chat and post meeting analysis. So, first things first, who's going to win? Well, as the following photographs show, the Poles are, as ever, giving their riders a helping hand, as the Polish riders get in a little early practice on the Bydgoszcz track: http://www.sportowefakty.pl/index.php?dysc...4&news_id=78358 The mighty Tomasz Gollob has won this one for the last three seasons. Jason Crump went to Prague this year with a similar record and TR went away with the GP. Can TG make it 4 years in a row? He's got a great chance. My prediction is: 1..T Gollob 2..J Crump 3..J Hampel 4..T Rickardsson
-
The draw for the Polish GP at Bydgoszcz is as follows: 1..J Crump..Australia..(1) 2..R Sullivan..Australia..(13) 3..A Lindback..Sweden..(14) 4..B Pedersen..Denmark..(10) 5..L Richardson..Great Britain..(11) 6..N Pedersen..Denmark..(5) 7..P Protasiewicz..Poland..(16) 8..L Adams..Australia..(4) 9..J Hampel..Poland..(8) 10..T Rickardsson..Sweden..(2) 11..H Andersen..Denmark..(9) 12..A Jonsson..Sweden..(7) 13..G Hancock..United States..(3) 14..T Gollob..Poland..(6) 15..T Chrzanowski..Poland..(15) 16..S Nicholls..Great Britain..(12) So, it's Jason Crump against the Poole GP riders in Ht 1. But who'd swap places with Ryan Sullivan in Ht 6? Well, at least Nicki P's on the outside of him, but TR and TG inside of him.

Ivan Admits That Tony Is The Best!

There's an argument for saying that Ivan Mauger played a huge part in creating the speedway world in which Rickardsson has dominated. It was Ivan Mauger who brought ultra-professionalism into the sport. -

Janusz Kolodziej Is Polish Champion
Subedei replied to Subedei's topic in International World of Speedway
And in the wake of his stunning triumph, in front of a reported crowd of 18,500 at Tarnow, Janusz Kolodziej has fired a broadside at his critics. The new Polish champion, still aged just 21, dedicated his triumph to "those who keep saying I'm a wasted talent". -

Janusz Kolodziej Is Polish Champion
Subedei replied to Subedei's topic in International World of Speedway
As you say aTomek Gollob did seem to throw it away. But he's won it 6 times already. This was Kolodziej's first win and in his first final. A super achievement. But a special word for dear old Jacek Gollob and his third place. That's a super result for a decent rider who has always ridden in the shadow of his brother. But, I suppose, with Tomasz finishing 2nd he was in the shadow of his brother again. Still, well done JG. But mainly well done Janusz Kolodziej. -
INDYWIDUALNE MISTRZOSTWA POLSKI Not so very long ago Scott Nicholls became British champion and now it's time to find who's going to be this year's Polish champion. The great Tomasz Gollob has won the title 6 times, most recently in 2002, and this year the final is being staged at his home track in Tarnow. The current champion is Grzegorz Walasek, who won the title at Czestochowa last year. As you'd expect, there's a high quality field assembled, but many might be surprised to see that GP star Jaroslaw Hampel failed to qualify. Not to worry, the born-again Pole Rune Holta is there. ------------------------------ IMP FINAL - Tarnow 1..P Protasiewicz..2,2,1,3,3 = 11 2..G Walasek..1,1,0,3,2 = 7 3..P Swiderski..0,0,1,1,0 = 2 4..J Gollob..3,2,3,3,2 = 13 5..J Kolodziej..3,3,3,3,3 = 15 6..M Rempala..2,2,2,2,3 = 11 7..T Jedrzejak..0,1,0,0,0 = 1 8..K Kasprzak..1,0,3,1,2 = 7 9..P Paluch..0,0,0,1,1 = 2 10..J Rempala..1,0,1,0,0 = 2 11..S Ulamek..3,3,0,0,0 = 6 12..R Kosciecha..2,1,2,1,2 = 8 13..D Balinski..1,1,Ex/T,2,1 = 5 14..R Holta..2,3,2,2,1 = 10 15..G Rempala..0,2,1,0,1 = 4 16..T Gollob..3,3,3,2,3 = 14 R1..M Kuciapa = DNR R2..P Staszek..2 = 2 ------------------------------ Ht 1..J Gollob, Protasiewicz, Walasek, Swiderski Ht 2..Kolodziej, M Rempala, Kasprzak, Jedrzejak Ht 3..Ulamek, Kosciecha, J Rempala, Paluch Ht 4..T Gollob, Holta, Balinski, G Rempala Ht 5..Kolodziej, Protasiewicz, Balinski, Paluch Ht 6..Holta, M Rempala, Walasek, J Rempala Ht 7..Ulamek, G Rempala, Jedrzejak, Swiderski Ht 8..T Gollob, J Gollob, Kosciecha, Kasprzak Ht 9..T Gollob, M Rempala, Protasiewicz, Ulamek Ht 10..Kolodziej, Kosciecha, G Rempala, Walasek [E/F] Ht 11..Kasprzak, Holta, Swiderski, Paluch Ht 12..J Gollob, Staszek, J Rempala, Jedrzejak Ht 13..Protasiewicz, Holta, Kosciecha, Jedrzejak Ht 14..Walasek, Balinski, Kasprzak, Ulamek Ht 15..Kolodziej, T Gollob, Swiderski, J Rempala Ht 16..J Gollob, M Rempala, Paluch, G Rempala Ht 17..Protasiewicz, Kasprzak, G Rempala, J Rempala Ht 18..T Gollob, Walasek, Paluch, Jedrzejak Ht 19..M Rempala, Kosciecha, Balinski, Swiderski Ht 20..Kolodziej, J Gollob, Holta, Ulamek ------------------------------ Notes: 1..Ht 10 and Walasek has machine misery. 2..Ht 12 and Balinski gets up to mischief at the tapes and is excluded and replaced by Staszek. 3..Ht 15 and Kolodziej passes Tomasz Gollob to win the heat. 4..Ht 20 and Janusz Kolodziej is Polish champion with a 15 point maximum. ------------------------------ TOP THREE: 1..Janusz KOLODZIEJ..15 2..Tomasz GOLLOB..14 3..Jacek GOLLOB..13 ------------------------------ All details from: http://www.przegladzuzlowy.pl

The first Ekstra Liga meeting scheduled for 14 August, 2005, is the return between Wroclaw and Tarnow for the right to meet Jason Crump's Torun in the next round of the play-offs. Realistically, it's going to be Tarnow unless Jaroslaw Hampel & Co can conjur up a miracle. But, you just never know. ------------------------------ Wroclaw..45 [70] 9..J Hampel..1,3,3,3,1,3 = 14 10..R Miskowiak..0,0,2' = 2+1 11..K Slabon..2',1,1,1,2 = 7+1 12..P Swiderski..3,3,0,0,1' = 7+1 13..H Andersen..3,3,2,3,2' = 13+1 14..R Jamrozy..2,0,0,0,0 = 2 15..M Pacholak..0 = 0 Tarnow..45 [109] 1..S Nicholls..3,2,3,2',0 = 10+1 2..S Burza..2',0,1,0 = 3+1 3..J Gollob..1,1',0 = 2+1 4..G Rempala..0,1,1',0 = 2+1 5..T Gollob..1',2,2,1 = 6+1 6..M Rempala..1,2,1',3,3 = 10+1 7..J Kolodziej..3,2,2',2,3 = 12+1 Ht 1..Kolodziej, Jamrozy, M Rempala, Pacholak 2-4 (2-4) Ht 2..Nicholls, Burza, Hampel, Miskowiak 1-5 (3-9) Ht 3..Swiderski, Slabon, J Gollob, G Rempala 5-1 (8-10) Ht 4..Andersen, M Rempala, T Gollob, Jamrozy 3-3 (11-13) Ht 5..Swiderski, Nicholls, Slabon, Burza 4-2 (15-15) Ht 6..Andersen, Kolodziej, J Gollob, Jamrozy 3-3 (18-18) Ht 7..Hampel, T Gollob, M Rempala, Miskowiak 3-3 (21-21) Ht 8..Nicholls, Andersen, Burza, Jamrozy 2-4 (23-25) Ht 9..Hampel, Miskowiak, G Rempala, J Gollob 5-1 (28-26) Ht 10..M Rempala, Kolodziej, Slabon, Swiderski 1-5 (29-31) Ht 11..Hampel, Kolodziej, G Rempala, Jamrozy 3-3 (32-34) Ht 12..M Rempala, Nicholls, Slabon, Swiderski [E/F] 1-5 (33-39) Ht 13..Andersen, T Gollob, Hampel, Burza 4-2 (37-41) Ht 14..Kolodziej, Slabon, Swiderski, G Rempala 3-3 (40-44) Ht 15..Hampel, Andersen, T Gollob, Nicholls 5-1 (45-45) ------------------------------ Notes: 1..A rare Ekstra Liga outing this season for Wroclaw's and Ipswich's Robert Miskowiak as he replaces the injured Tomasz Gapinski. 2..Ht 6 and Kolodziej replaces G Rempala for Tarnow. 3..Ht 8 and a 4-2 to Tarnow takes them through to meet Torun in the next round of the play-offs. 4..Ht 10 and Kolodziej replaces T Gollob for Tarnow. 5..Ht 11 and Kolodziej replaces J Gollob for Tarnow. 6..Ht 13 and Hampel replaces Miskowiak in a tactical move by Wroclaw. 7..Ht 14 and the line-up is Swiderski-Slabon for Wroclaw and J Gollob-G Rempala for Tarnow. 8..Ht 14 and Kolodziej replaces J Gollob for Tarnow. 9..Ht 15 and the line-up is Hampel-Andersen for Wroclaw and T Gollob-Nicholls for Tarnow. 10..Ht 15 and a Wroclaw 5-1 sees the home side salvage a draw and a little pride. You've got to remember I'm a Mongol and I sometimes make errors with your little English sayings. Interestingly, following on from Ace no.5 comments about both TR's GP defeats coming in his home country, both were also won from the unfavoured gate 3 in the final. Actually, the best two GPs of the series this year have been raced in Sweden. -
It's actually an interesting point. Are the Poles the same "race" as the majority of members on this forum. Certainly Hitler and his cronies would have said not. The Poles, like the Czechs, Russians, Serbs and so on are Slavs while we are Germanic.

And of course his daughter Darija is a member of this forum. It looks wonderful. A possible GP stadium in the future? -

Don't think I've ever had 4000 credits to lose. I think young Jonsson has lifted me to my highest total so far. And it's up to TG to take me even higher. Come on Tomasz, I've put credits on you in each and every single round. It's time for payback. -

A special mention for the real stars of tonight and that's the track staff at malilla. That's two years running that European track staff have made a silk purse out of a pig's ear. Last season it was Prague and this season Malilla. Heavy ran around the start time of the GP a bit of track work after the rain stops and hey presto a superb racing circuit. Now why isn't it like that in dear old Blighty? Different material? -
I'm just wondering what the title of this thread will be the next time I look. It's had 3 already. I know. I was joshing.
