  1. The thing is, I believe the GPs are now a huge step up in class and unless we start getting new riders in, they've never going to make it. I wouldn't be surprised if next season doesn't see 6, 7 or even 8 of the current top 8 in the top 8 again. Hampel has the best chance of those outside to get inside. Time for a secondary series?
  2. Well, we are where we are. There isn't going to be a qualification meeting. Jonsson and Hampel were in the top 8 last year and deserve a second chance. But Nicholls, Richardson, Sullivan and Andersen were shown charity this season. Another chance to succeed. But they failed.
  3. Scott Nicholls, Hans Andersen, Lee Richardson and Ryan Sullivan were all gifted a second chance in the GPs this season. A second chance to prove their worth, after failing to hit the auntomatic qualification criteria last season. And this season they've failed again. Do they deserve a third chance in 2006? The Mongol says NO. They're serial failures and should be sent packing. Everyone deserves a second chance and they've had theirs.
  4. Okay, have seen Ht 15 now and Pepe might've had a case if he'd gone straight down. But it looked like a perfectly fair move from TG. I don't think Pepe went for a dive. I can't imagine he thought Gollob would've been excluded. Especially not after Ht 10.
  5. Are they not related through Neil Street? Anyway, Hampel looked after Gollob in their last qualification heat at Cardiff and Gollob's looked out for other Poles during GPs (nicely moving Ales Dryml wide to let Hampel through at Bydgoszcz last season). I thought Crump might've made more of an effort on Adams' behalf during the semi-final at Hamar last season. But I guess his mind was elsewhere that night.
  6. I had a problem with Hts 10 and 15, but Ht 13 was okay. Edit: And now Ht 10 works, sort of. Looks like Pepe is taking the "Tomasz Gollob" line down the back straight and is slightly ahead of Jacek Gollob when they clash.
  7. Well, looks like things are at boiling point over in Poland at the minute. Let's hope they cool down a little between now and the second leg. And this afternoon a weakened Torun team got a thumping at the hands of Czestochowa.
  8. Reading Mr Clemens' report was a hell of a lot more entertaining than the tripe that was served up at Lonigo. Mr Clemens it didn't deserve such a sterling report. It was awful.

  10. Well, dear old Marek Gollob, I mean Wojaczek, was the referee.
  11. So, Tarnow get a 22 point lead to take to Bydgoszcz. Will it be enough? And will Bydgoszcz come to regret Pepe's two exclusions?
  12. You lose points for not having bet in the final round. And you'd have been on Crump, so you should've been even higher.
  13. Looks like Crump and Smith are Belle Vue bound: http://www.przegladzuzlowy.pl/news_torun.php?id=1089884023
  14. I'm led to believe that Torun's president is the uber-boss of Polish speedway. It's Terry Russell, if you like.
  15. As an added extra today, 11 September, 2005, we have the first leg of the battle to see who'll replace Zielona Gora in the Ekstra Liga next season. It should've been a PK-Max battle, but, of course, Rzeszow are without their injured star. However, they do have Ipswich's "missing" Pole Baran in their ranks. One of these sides will be Ekstra Liga next season, but which one? ------------------------------ Ostrow..47 9..T Jedrzejak..3,1',3,3,1 = 11+1 10..P Dym..0,2,2',0 = 4+1 11..M Wegrzyk..2',0,2,2,1' = 7+2 12..M Szczepaniak..3,2,0,1',2 = 8+1 13..P Karlsson..3,3,2,3,3 = 14 14..S Brucheiser..3,0,0,0,0 = 3 15..M Liberski..0 = 0 Rzeszow..43 1..N Klingberg..2,3,3,3,0 = 11 2..T Rempala..1',1,1,2,0 = 5+1 3..D Sledz..0,2,1,2,3 = 8 4..K Baran..1,1',0,1' = 3+2 5..M Kuciapa..1',3,3,1',2 = 10+2 6..D Stachyra..1' = 1+1 7..P Miesiac..2,2,0,1,0 = 5 Ht 1..Brucheiser, Miesiac, Stachyra, Liberski 3-3 (3-3) Ht 2..Jedrzejak, Klingberg, Rempala, Dym 3-3 (6-6) Ht 3..Szczepaniak, Wegrzyk, Baran, Sledz 5-1 (11-7) Ht 4..Karlsson, Miesiac, Kuciapa, Brucheiser 3-3 (14-10) Ht 5..Klingberg, Szczepaniak, Rempala, Wegrzyk [Ex] 2-4 (16-14) Ht 6..Karlsson, Sledz, Baran, Brucheiser 3-3 (19-17) Ht 7..Kuciapa, Dym, Jedrzejak, Miesiac 3-3 (22-20) Ht 8..Klingberg, Karlsson, Rempala, Brucheiser 2-4 (24-24) Ht 9..Jedrzejak, Dym, Sledz, Baran 5-1 (29-25) Ht 10..Kuciapa, Wegrzyk, Miesiac, Szczepaniak 2-4 (31-29) Ht 11..Jedrzejak, Sledz, Baran, Brucheiser 3-3 (34-32) Ht 12..Klingberg, Wegrzyk, Szczepaniak, Miesiac 3-3 (37-35) Ht 13..Karlsson, Rempala, Kuciapa, Dym 3-3 (40-38) Ht 14..Sledz, Szczepaniak, Wegrzyk, Rempala 3-3 (43-41) Ht 15..Karlsson, Kuciapa, Jedrzejak, Klingberg [Ex/T] 4-2 (47-43) ------------------------------ Notes: 1..Ht 4 and Miesiac replaces Stachyra for Rzeszow. 2..Ht 5 and Wegrzyk gets himself into mischief and is excluded for Ostrow. 3..Ht 7 and Miesiac replaces Stachyra for Rzeszow. 4..Ht 10 and Miesiac replaces Stachyra for Rzeszow. 5..Ht 12 and guess what? 16. Depends how quickly the Poles act. If they suspend his straight away, would he have a licence for tomorrow? And he'd probably never ride in Poland again.
  17. Smith, riding on a Polish licence, could find himself in BIG trouble if he doesn't ride for Torun tomorrow.
  18. Szczepaniak has been named in Czestochowa's programmed line-up for this afternoon's Ekstra Liga meeting at home to Torun.
  19. And so, for the last time this season, my assessments of the riders' individual performces at the GP are: L Adams: A good GP for Adams. H Andersen: Made the semis. One of his better efforts this season. But does he deserve a third chance in 2006? I doubt it. S Andersson: Won the opening race and then went downhill. T Chrzanowski: Had a decent enough GP to finish the season. But not enough to save his GP career you feel. J Crump: A good GP for Crump. Was on the pace all night. T Gollob: The GP was awful, but Gollob was worse. Appalling. If it wasn't for Bydgoszcz he'd not have been in the top 8 and on this showing he wouldn't have deserved to be around next season. G Hancock: Continues to impress in the later GPs of this season. Made the final and finished 3rd. He'll be happy with that. Or, at least, he should be. A Jonsson: A super performance from Jonsson. Provided the only real entertainment. Made a mistake in the semi, or was it a harsh decision? Like Nicholls you feel Jonsson has to start riding "smarter" races. A Lindback: Hit and miss. He'll be around next season, but you wonder if he's come to the GPs too soon, or whether he'd benefit from a year away from the circus? S Nicholls: A little unlucky. But that's a constant refrain and you start to feel it's not just a question of luck. Shouldn't get a third chance, but probably will. Needs to start riding with his "head". B Pedersen: An impressive GP to round off 2005 and he's safely in the top 8. Well done young fellow. But he was in the wars again last night. Why do they always pick on BP? N Pedersen: Didn't look that fit to be honest. Probably only there to try and keep his 3rd place in the world safe. But he didn't manage it. R Povazhny: Won a race. L Richardson: After his heroics at Bydgoszcz, Richardson finished the 2005 circus with a whimper rather than a bang. T Rickardsson: Awesome. Started the 2005 circus with a 7 ride maximum at Wroclaw and finished it with a 7 ride maximum at Lonigo. Head, shoulders and torso above the rest this season. Edit: M Zagar: So anonymous I missed him off the list.
  20. The start time for this meeting looks like 4:00pm CET.
  21. Well, I'm sticking to my guns. Worst GP of the year by miles and miles and miles.
  22. As long as they don't host another at Lonigo, I couldn't care.
  23. No, it wasn't, but still good to know what you scored. And congratulations to you. But next season you must join in with the rest of us. Thanks for the effort you put into this year's competition.
