Which Brit Should Get A Wild Card?
refereerick replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Got to be Rico, has matured into a genuine heat leader in 3 countries since he was last in the GP's and vitally he can gate on the super slick GP tracks, at least a year to early for the likes of Woffinden, Kennett and Bridger. -

QUOTE (Rob B @ Jul 18 2009, 07:12 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Obviously couldn't be run tonight but 10am start tomorrow is a joke. Just because the Poles want to have their league meetings still in the evening. If they wanted to host the world cup final they should have known there was a chance of it being rained off and restaged the following day. What difference does the time make? if you want to watch it you will, its also better for the travelling fans too so they can get back home before Monday and work.

Where Was Nicholls

Errrr.....yes, its exactly what Bridger did by going from the Conference league straight into the Elite league as a 16 year old and look where it has got him in a couple of seasons he's become an Elite league heatleader on a 7.63 average and has now ridden in the SWC - not done too badly by riding against 'far superior opposition' has he? -
Swc - The Race Off
refereerick replied to Sandie's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Why are some of the negative souls on here banging the drum of final, final final? they keep going on about losing but if we had the riders they want in the squad we might have made the final, but we would still have lost, no way we are going to get anywhere near the Poles or Aussies at the moment so give the younger riders the experience so in 2 or 3 years we are in a position to be able to compete for the title. Guess the likes of Orion and Frigbo are so desperate to see a team they support win something after following Swindon for so long -
Lyons Should Have Picked Scotty

Good job some of the people on here aren't Aussies, or they would be calling for Crump to be dropped for the final after he was beaten by Lindback -

Exactly what I said earlier Spanner, we are never going to win the meeting or come last with or without Scott and Lee so why not take the chance to give the younger riders some valuable experience. -

I personally think Rob Lyon has taken a brave decision - but the right one in his selection for tonight. With or without Scott and Lee we were never going to beat the likes of the Aussies or Poles to win the meeting and go straight to the final and likewise, with or without Scott and Lee I can't for the life of me see us being beaten by the Slovenians. So it's the perfect opportunity to give the younger lads some WTC experience which will hopefully make them better prepared for the next few seasons when we may be better equiped to challenge for the WTC. Whatever happens I think whatever team Rob put out would take us to the race off and then its time to put our strongest team out, even though our passage to the final through that looks nigh on impossible with Sweden, Denmark and one of Poland (most likely) or the Aussies our opponents on Thursday.
