Interesting. Is there a public record of this trade off?Of course, now, negotiations as per the planning application start over. Unless someone else takes up the running of speedway at Brandon. BE's stance is, given the above, somewhat clear. Mick Horton's stance is, maybe, clear in that, despite the financial support offered, he was not prepared to take up the offer of running speedway when it required him to restore the stadium. People should not confuss his £200K paid for the speedway rights with anything to do with the stadium. His expectation was a business with certain financial support and income. He then had to consider that same business with the considable additinal cost of fixing the stadium. Mr Sandhu's stance is less clear. If he still has expectations (prior to restoring the stadium), we would be pleased to consider them and support them if appropriate. Any of the parties referred to above, care to comment?

OK I'm a simple soul. If I'd paid £2.7M for a piece of land, would I pay someone else to use it? I heard on the video from last Friday that Brandon Estates had deposited £50K in a bank under an escrow agreement as the first payment of a total of £200K to Mick Horton as part of his lease agreement. Someone else has posted that Brandon Estates were giving Mick Horton £240K over 3 years. Either way, what gives? Brandon Estates ain't a charity

So the argument that the BSPA let Coventry go adrift when BV was assured of running because we needed 8 teams in the top division to keep SKY was, like most postings, pure speculation. SKY were leaving anyway.

Some one mentioned building a care home. Trust me, this could be a great investment on a very small corner of this plot. The going rate for care home residents is £1000 a week. A health centre and gym. Now there's an idea. A nursery. A garden centre. Now let me see. How much of the total land have I used? Not a lot. How much revenue have I generated? Now that looks good. And I've still got a stadium and almost as much car parking as when I started. Just imagine.... Oh I forgot. No houses!
-
So share the evidence with the rest of us. I'm not having a go at you. I just want to proceed from a basis of fact. We've had hints and unsubstantiated proclamations to last a life time.
-
If you have the evidence, present it. Sandhu is really Brandon Estates is a good conspiracy theory. I might like to believe it. But the evidence that I have been able to uncover proves that both Sandhu and Brandon Estates are good at covering their tracks. The fact that they have that in common does not make them one and the same company.

Save Coventry Bees Campaign (dont Give Up)
False dawn replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
This is the most worthwhile of causes. I want the Bees back as much as anyone. Be careful people, please. Let's not take sides just yet till ALL the facts are known. Conclusions are not accurate just because someone proclaims them as the truth. The experience so far is that the people who really know what's going on, are the ones who are saying the least. -
True. But then we have.... Mick Horton now hiding behind, "I'm taking legal advice" Sandhu, errr Brandon Estates, a bigger errr No one else actually knows anything worth talking about with the possible exception of Michael Stokes. It wold be nice if someone would just be honest with us. It can't get any worse than it is. It is surely no worse than has been imagined on here and elsewhere.
-
Do you know, it's the first time I've heard anyone speak around this debate that just came over as being straightforward. Well done Rory.

So did Brandon Estates call in the police reference Sandhu's actions or not? If they did, it makes a nonsense of the belief that these two are one and the same. If they did, which police force is investigating this alleged offence? If they did, why has it taken so long to progress this investigation? If they did, would the police not say that this is a contractual dispute and therefore a civil matter? If they didn't, then we have been lied to. So I challenge you Brandon Estates, Tell us which police force is dealing with this dispute and the progress of that investigation. OR admit you did nothing, meaning you were quite happy to see this stadium in an unusable condition. Actually, I'll make it easier for you. Brandon Estates, tell us anything of any substance. It is clear from only a few hours real investigation that both Sandhu and Brandon Estates do not want the rest of us to know the nature and detail of their businesses. Both are clouded in mystery, intermediaries and in the case of Brandon Estates, an off shore registration.

dawn with a small d is not a girl's name, it's a time of day. As in the phrase, it's another false dawn. For the record, I'm a grumpy old man! Regarding the security of the stadium, I understand it has been reported on social media that the doors have been fixed and the stadium is now, again, secure.
-
On a slightly worrying note. I was passing the stadium yesterday and saw that the doors to the hanger building, hanging off their hinges. I took a photo and wrote to the Bees website but have not received a response. I'm not sure who is responsible for / interested in stadium security currently.

I would be happy to report on proceedings. Unfortunately my wife is working which leaves me without transport. Anyone going from the Rugby area?

It appears he is not afraid to enter the lion's den (no pun intended).... http://www.coventrybees.co/news.php?extend.3814

So it would seem.

To be clear. I think it is unfortunate that Peterborough and Coventry have chosen to run on this day (and at exactly the same time). As an avid Bees fan and considering their current troubles and given that this will be their opening meeting of the season, of course I want to be there. On the other hand I have great respect for Peter Karlson and think it is appropriate that any fan who has supported the sport throughout his career should show their their thanks for his contribution. It's not as though the Peterborough meeting could not have avoided this clash. It looks like an oversight. Oh well. You can't have everything, eh?
-
Hmmm. Not the best of fixturing (and where have I heard that before). There is a certain meeting at Wolves that day involving Sam Ermolenko, Ronnie Correy, Michael Max and others celebrating Peter Karlson's final bow. An unfortunate conflict of sporting interest.

Don't apologise. There have been the thick end of 268 pages of discussion on the subject and we're still no nearer the truth. For the record, here are the Four Amigos. Please note, Brandon Estates - image unavailable

Coventry Supporters 2017
False dawn replied to False dawn's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Ah, ah, ah, I take a couple of days off and we go from offering each other lifts to slagging off each other's tracks. Please, this thread is about one thing. Support your local team even if they are racing up the road a way. I will not stifle debate on any subject or from any contributor. But there is a well established thread or two for where this is going on. Not here. Now who wants a lift? -

False dawn replied to False dawn's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I don't know you from Adam, but if you'd like to go for a drink sometime...... btw it's dawn as in the time of day, not Dawn, the girl's name! P.S. This wasn't set up as a dating thread. I do know fliss44 slightly -
I love the Bees. They are have been part of my life for many years decades. We have been thrown a lifeline. If you want to debate the ins and outs of what has and is happening I respectfully request you go to the Coventry 2017 thread where you'll find many kindred spirits. For my part I want to support what is left of my club, come what may. So come Friday April 7th I'll be there, at Beaumont Park, watching the Beaumont Bees beating Kings Lynn. I'll be travelling with my wife with a car with 4 (5, at a push) seats from Rugby and will be more than happy to take like minded fans with me. Any similarly minded fans, feel free to post your offers or needs of lifts here.

We'll all pull together, won't we? Well I wonder, reading some of the reaction to this latest announcement. Oh well, that aside. Let's assume Mick Horton is only in this for the money. With me, so far? Assuming that to be true, can we really think he is stringing us along by taking us Leicester? If there is a major run of support for this move, he can still surely expect a big drop in income through the turnstiles not to mention the cost of renting another stadium. You might not like him, but he ain't a fool. Certainly not when it comes to money. Accept this at face value. We have a team (God bless them for their patience). Go, if you can and keep the faith. Hell, I'm sounding like a supporter of the people involved. To them I say this. You are dealing with something bigger than a speedway club or a business from which to make money. Sometimes a club just will not die e,g, Leicester or Cradley who still persist despite everything. Please. We have gone through a lot already, I know. I do know. 46 years on the Brandon terraces has an effect on a man (chilblains if nothing else). I want a future for our Bees if not for me but for those who come after me. If your hobby is politics, bugger off. This is a sporting thread.

Come on guys and gals. I don't know the real facts of this better than anyone else. We were facing two ways forward. Closure or some other way that at least kept hope alive. I don't want to support my team in someone else's stadium. But if there's still a chance of us going back to Brandon and maybe, just maybe a new stadium, I for one will do everything to support my Bees. Not Mick Horton, not Avtar Sandhu, not Brandon Estates, not even Michael Stokes (bless him). The Bees. A virtual entity bigger than any person or venue.

Just got back from the funeral. It was a splendid service attended by a large number of friends and family; it was standing room only in the chapel. At the wake I had an engaging conversation with some insiders but that's for another day. For me, a sad day had a happy outcome. Bryn managed to bring two "senior" fans together even after his demise. A big thank you to Fourentee for the lift. Without you I wouldn't have been able to attend. Added to that, I have a new forum friend. Rest well Bryn.

At least he didn't retire after 5 days!
