  1. How would it be if Wimbledon ran this meeting now? The alternative World Championship for the many lovers of the one off finals. I wonder how many people would turn out to see that one? An interesting experiment?
  2. I heard that Tony had, appropriately, switched to Classic FM.
  3. Neil Collins is the only one I know who has always worn one and is still riding.
  4. Don't worry Sir L. I've been posting the odd pic (*) for a while now and I think I got away with it. Track extension? Crickey, I've raced on smaller grasstrack circuits. (*) So who's going to have fun with this then?
  5. I used to make the trip to Blackbird Road every Tuesday when I was at University up the road in Loughborough in the 70's. Two of us used to travel on the Loughborough Speedway Supporters coach and we'd support the opposition every week. How many sports could you do that in and get away with it?
  6. There will more GP's. Sorry to be boring but your education will stand you in good stead. Believe me, I know.
  7. Come on CHK, I thought I had exclusive rights on talking to myself. 8) Really Fd? :?
  8. I've tried more than once to find about the history of speedway in Dublin. I bought a small poster in the 70's advertising speedway there but it doesn't say when or who rode etc. Come on Norbold, here's another book idea I've set up for you.
  9. And "Follow him" is right. If Ray was riding, Soldier Boy was sure to be there, shouting very loudly at the starting gate. If memory serves he did, after Ray Wilson retired, switch allegiance to Ole Olsen for a while.
  10. But if you're right, it was your idea, eh?
  11. They did publish an A-Z of riders which was later republished on the official website. A summary of this still exists there, although they've removed the short paragraph which accompanied each entry for some reason. A to Z of Bees Riders 1929-2002 There is also some personal recollections. Memory Lane
  12. Yes to both questions. A tragic story.
  13. Berwick, north of the border?
  14. A "few" years ago the USA were so short of riders during a tour that one of their mechanics turned out for their national side in a test over here.
  15. Don't panic folks, the block booking tickets arrived on Saturday while I was at the training track. I'll be in touch over the next few days to arrange to get them to you.
  16. Okay, I'll give it a shot. It starts off by saying what I did was stunning (or great). I think there's something about it being wrong or not quite right (big surprise). Then there something about writing in Polish as opposed to English. I'm not sure what "dziekuje" means but there is something about saluting or congratulating something. And finally we have a reference to Rospigana and Ipswich (but you knew that! ). See. It's as clear as mud. 8)
  17. Welcome to our forum. Please stay. Obviously I can't really speak Polish False dawn
  18. Mile widziany wobec nasz forum. Podobać się pobyt. Oczywiście JA zajmujący się produkcją konserw rzeczywiście mówić po polsku. Fałszywy świtać
  19. I have a vague recollection of someone holding a track record (at Cradley?) for the wrong way round. I think the only modification to the bike was to remove the footrest. Of course some of us race "the wrong way round". And before anyone starts making cracks about my two wheel abilities, I am referring to right hand sidecar racing on grass which of course, does run in a clockwise direction. Actually, since it is your right leg which provides a lot more control of the bike than your left, it does make sense to go anticlockwise.
  20. somehow,i don't think so :!: although it would be good if he could be one Actually I've heard that Billy was offered one of the wildcards at Cardiff but he can't take it up because the AMA have said he's got to go the North Pole
  21. Can't help with airport information, but according to my profile pic, they ain't having any more GPs at Vojens!
  22. Don't know if this is current information but there are, at least, a couple of Romford badges on display: http://www.peter-holtom.fsnet.co.uk/page7.htm I ran across this site in my capacity as avatar "seamstress" (thanks L :? )
