  1. Even Matt Ford is agreeing that Poole have made a howler from a marketing and promotion point of view.
  2. You could actually make one for very little. Just have a digital output screen (the only cost involved) big enough for the numbers to count down on, and write a simple program on a computer that is displayed on the screen. Simple as that!
  3. Sorry - I can't make any sense of the last sentence? Just looking on amazon very quickly earlier, I found some for between $200 and $500.
  4. Start marshals need to be tougher and so do the refs too. However I'm not sure why riders can't 'garden' stood up, on the bike, doing hand stands or whatever they like as long as they are in contact with the bike and within the 2 minutes.
  5. More absolute nonsense. Where do some of these people get these ridiculous figures from?
  6. To be fair it's like deja vu for Tungate - this is what he was like at the start of last season for Somerset.
  7. For anybody who has seen Ipswich's racesuits this year, that is EXACTLY the reason why all top flight teams at least should have them. Marketing and professionalism almost to perfection!
  8. So another year and another year of guests galore.... give me strength!
  9. I'm assuming it's still a guest for no.1 and then rider replacement for everybody else except the reserves. The only time a guest is then used is 2 or more riders are injured. That's what I would assume, but I haven't actually read the rule book so it's probably the complete opposite!
  10. I remember that too. Eastbourne also have done it in the past too when they had red race shirts going back quite a few years in the days of David Norris and co.
  11. It's a very interesting point Keith - I'm working on what reliable information I've been given which could potentially be wrong, that they simply chose not to buy Holder. Star man however states they couldn't afford him. A very big difference! And Starman just for the record, no matter how many times you repeat something doesn't make it right
  12. Partially right with a few things wrong. Somerset could of afforded Holder I'm led to believe BUT there is a big difference between being able to and choosing not to.
  13. I'm also led to believe aswell it wasn't that Somerset couldn't afford Holder - they simply choose not to pursue him any longer as they didn't believe he was worth what Matt Ford was asking for him, and within a short space of time after our remaining team members was put in place.
  14. No tizzy here - I find it hard to believe but I know it does happen that people actually get wound up and annoyed on a Speedway forum It actually doesn't bother me that Holder isn't at Somerset and is at Poole, but that doesn't stop me being naive to think that we wanted to sign him and he wanted to join us. You posting nonsense about Poole being his first choice is exactly that, nonsense. You are either blinkered and/or stupid if you think that.
  15. So are you now accepting Chris Holder's first choice was actually Somerset, but Matt put a stop to that move happening?
  16. What in gods name has any of that what to do with my post? You chat utter nonsense. You state Chris could of gone out on loan and then in the next breath basically say Matt wouldn't allow it. We already know that which is why he isn't at Somerset. The bottom line is Chris is riding for Poole this season, albeit as his second choice.
  17. For your reference, Jack signed for Somerset first. So do you think it's wrong or just turning a blind eye to what is known by many others to be a fact that Chris Holder wanted to sign for Somerset too.... Somerset also wanted Chris Holder and Matt Ford was prepared to release him but only for a substantial amount of money, believed to be in the region of £25,000. Somerset refused to pay such an amount and therefore the only option Holder had left on the table was to sign for Poole.
  18. Even though it's common knowledge he wanted to be at Somerset with his brother?
  19. You still don't get it though - regardless of sponsors helping to fund Doyle, extra track work or results on track, there is still additional revenue that is now being missed out on.... so yes, you WOULD recoup it and more!
  20. Interesting to see that 5 out of the 7 Swindon team have Dstar suits as well as at least Craig Cook for Belle Vue.... can't be that bad after all and all for a maximum of £700 each
  21. I love it when someone tries to use evidence to prove a point and they just make something up And for the record, yes I do believe marketing is a problem for both Poole and Somerset. As I've previously said Swindon according to other posts have a main title sponsor and 9 other team sponsors on their suit. Poole and Somerset obviously don't, which shows a marketing issue in my eyes. To a certain extent it doesn't make any difference to me watching Speedway personally whether Riders are in team suits or race jacket when I'm watching, it won't effect me going or not obviously. That isn't the point I'm making. The point is it's a complete oversight and so short sighted to think it saves money by not having team suits, when if done properly it could actually be a chance for increased revenue. At least Somerset have a decent logo to represent the club whereas Poole have absolutely murdered theirs this year and is truly awful.
  22. Id imagine that has been done on purpose to stop the rider merry go round, therefore only really allowing for mostly like for like rider changes on their starting averages - especially if riders miss the odd meeting here and there through injury.
  23. Are you saying Matt is a bigger clown than Neil?
  24. Like I've suggested before, offer up for example a Dstar racesuits and then if the individual rider wishes to upgrade their brand to a superior one they can pay the difference. Simples.
