Won't be the easiest of debuts against Cradley and you can never expect immediate fireworks but purely through looking at photos and videos of Smith racing in Poland I'd say Kent might be onto a winner here! Knows how to wind it on in the big open spaces they have, hopefully will get down to Kent next Monday to see his home debut. R/R definitely weakens the side for Kent, especially having a 3 pointer in the main team although it does give the home fans the chance of seeing Shanes again I suppose?

The set MPT has been wearing are a new set made by a different supplier, you can see the design is ever so slightly different to the one's Adam wore on press day also with sponsors in different locations.

In comparison to the other confirmed lineup's I'd say ours is capable of upsetting the odds now and then. The team might take a while to get itself together having two rookies at reserve but it's always nice to see riders start out at times and progress if given the time, we are kind of used to it at Rye anyway. Even as recently as watching Tom Braddock a couple of years ago was decent till he got himself injured, hopefully history doesn't repeat itself with these boys over trying. I'd say our season kind of revolves around how Kyle Hughes does, we know what he's capable of but getting a full season out of him is sometimes the test!

Rye House V Peterborough (premier League) 3rd September
ash replied to Shadders's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Thought Luke would be out for a little while longer but you're right even the Rye House site says he's riding, won't be at number 2 though he'll be at reserve under the new greensheets I believe? Will pop along tonight, not expecting much given the lineup Peterborough are fielding! Sarjeant probably strengthens them at reserve mind you. -

Elmside sponsored kevlar suit previously belonging to Rye House rider Luke Bowen, in great condition! All zips in working order, no tears/holes or rips, small mark on the right inside leg where the ankle has been rested on the engine. Suitable for someone around 5'11 and slim/average build. Starting bid £100 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Speedway-Kevlar-Suit-Elmside-sponsored-suit-owned-by-Rye-House-rider-Luke-Bowen-/121112091119?pt=UK_Sports_Memorabilia_ET&hash=item1c32d7d9ef

Was made to eat my own words last night after watching the Kings signing Adam Kirby ride second half at Rye House. What a difference the winter must have made to the lad, looked smooth as anything and won all of his rides, alot of hard work must have gone in since the last season ended! It's always good to see teams including 3.00 riders into the League and Kirby could turn out to be a decent signing, looking forward to my visit to Kent at some stage this season.
-
Apparently he wasn't happy with his bike at Lakeside on the Friday night so was at Rye last night simply sorting out the gremlins. Given how local he lives to the track it's not surprising if he popped down every now and then for a practice.
-
Having witnessed Adam Kirby ride over the last few years but admittedly not towards the tail end of last season I'm not too sure how he fits into the category of "if this team doesn't win the league"? I'm not sure how many times I've even seen him complete 4 laps to be brutally honest!? Can't help but think this signing is partly down to the 'Nikko Racing' connection, but others must see something I don't! What I would take from this is that he last two signings must be real gems, Robert Lambert to partner Kirby at reserve perhaps?

Is Nick Morris really the out and out number 1 that's going to score double points at every track home and away as described by Len in the Mercury? Arguably he's also the spectacular rider that Len isn't looking for. Oliver Allen however does fit that description, and if Twitter hints are anything to go by I wouldn't be surprised to see him in the team nor would I be disappointed with his inclusion! He dominated the Premier League a few years back with King's Lynn and I'd say his only downfall is the amount of injuries he seems to pick up. Oliver Allen, Anders Mellgren, Tyson Nelson, Jason Bunyan, Jason Garrity, Simon Lambert and Kasper Lykke? Certainly has the potential to do well IMO.

The team needs alot of rebuilding to keep anyone interested for 2012, Auty and Aspgren would definitely have been a start. If we can expect Neath, ???, Boxall, Bowen, Hawkins, Nelson and Morley then things are only going to get worse at Rye. I haven't attended any meetings in October due to lack of interest, some serious improvements need to be made on and off track for next season to bring the crowd back.

I've never understood why the number 8 doesn't get more rides when his team is winning by a large margin (almost 30 points tonight). What harm will it do to give that rider 4 rides?

Adam Kirby was in the red kevlars, didn't miss much apart from Morley and Haines came out together for practice with Morley taking a tumble just before the start line on bend 4 but I didn't see what happened!

I thought my last two posts on this thread would have given that away! Strudwick in the team would have given us a stronger 3/4 pairing, especially away from home.
