  1. Just to simplify things for some if you Brady Kurtz won the Aussie title last year. This year he was in 7th. He was struggling for form. Apparently that's not allowed to be discussed He showed his true form in the last round so leaves the series on a high. The fact is he finished 7th in a series he won last year. What ever your on(to simplify things) I thought Max Fricke won the Aussie title LAST Year
  2. How many fans were approached? After speaking with friends, I know of quite a few that are unhappy, never mind the friends from over the bridge. It just reduces more the family time early in the day when you can get out leaving the end of day entertainment at the EWR(these are not just my own words but words of my friends)
  3. Peter Johns, in printed interviews, has said the biggest breakers of engines is over revving & cleanliness. As Ash has pointed out, the rev limiter is one of the ways to go. About the oil scenario, the GTR has its own pump & filter so does not need changing often(120-160 heats?). Peter Johns pointed out that it was best to use a certain oil & change the oil(850cc) every 2 heats making it another £50-60 per 2 meetings. Rock Oil is 1 make that a lot of riders have on their kevlars & bike covers & Motorrex is another top oil used. There are other cheaper options available.
  4. The engines should, on a dyno, perform similar but on track, they will be different. Why? Bike set-ups, track surface, riders weight & size, tyre pressures, etc. The bikes themselves will be individually set up via fly wheels, carburation jetting, air filter, ignition timing, gearing, wheelbase are just the main set up options.
  5. Josh now signed for the young stars so will 3 leagues be too much for him and his machines? Dropping the PL might be a good option until he can find his feet after his injury. Even D Howe & TJ suffered for a long while after sustaining shoulder injuries. D Howe retired because of this as he knew he was better than the scores he was getting.
  6. Which is the question I asked at post #738. Have the internals been changed to suit F Lindgren with his input back to Gerhard whereas Bomber could not! Or are they still standard as per the first engine built? No replies, as yet, to substantiate this theory. As posted in the SS, all the engines, now, are the same as Freddie's.
  7. True foamfence but how many riders bring 1 bike to race meetings? They often have 2 bikes plus, maybe, a spare engine in the van never mind at the workshop!
  8. If you buy a Gerhard, it costs you £4000 + VAT so about £4800 including warranty.. This example is based on 100 heats........................NO service..............NO oil change(has its own oil pump & filter but might do 1 change) Buy a used GM about £1800 (what state is it in requiring a service?) This example based also on 100 heats....................service every 35 heats at £350 basic is £1050 .................................................................................oil change every 2 heats (850cc x 6 in 5litres of oil costing £40-£60) requires approx. 8 x 5Litres is £320-£480 depending on quality of oil used. This is just the basics taken from Speedway Star & forum. AFAIK I have not heard of anything going wrong with the Gerhard so is good for possibly another 100 heats at minimal cost. Where as a GM could have had issues as I am not sure of any rider that has NOT blown an engine once or twice a season leading to more outlay. Yes, the initial cost is more but in the long run could be advantageous. Getting the right set up is an art for all riders on tracks of different size & track surfaces so the Gerhard could be competitive as has been proven by F Lindgren. It is trial and error for everyone wether using a Gerhard, GM or Jawa.
  9. Go directly to the "horse's mouth" at Trevor Hedge Racing as they are the sole servicing outlet, at the moment. They, also, service GM & Jawa and all are "Prices on request"
  10. I posted this a while ago in "New starting procedures" in Main Topic "The Way Ahead". Posted 16 September 2016 - 03:31 PM A system could be used similar to motor racing. Transponders used to monitor movement, do away with tapes & have an overhead/track canopy 20/25metres down from the start with red lights for ready & then green for go. All the riders are facing forward which eliminates the chance of riders on gates 1 & 4 moving slightly with the riders on 2 & 3 going & getting penalized
  11. It won't! Craig Cook signed for Peterborough & they had to change their main race night to Sunday rather than Friday(Belle Vue)
  12. Shouldn't be too long now he's got his 4th place in a state championship. Just waiting for visa application to go through.
  13. I seem to recall an instance where there was a start infringement & the said rider was going off 15m. Later, as the 3 remaining riders were not ready at 2 minutes, all 4 were punished resulting in all 4 starting, level, back at the tapes.
  14. Does anyone know if the engines have been changed internally, as Harris could not get the right set up for speedway but still used them for long track, yet Lindgren got the best out of the engines for his speedway in the EL, GP's & elsewhere. Did Lindgren give more input back to Gerhard so the engines were "tweeked" to suit him so, out of the box, they might not suit everyone. Every riders weight & riding style means different set ups required.
  15. Because that meeting is about Peter Karlsson & fellow guest riders. Tai being there just might take some of adulation away from PK & that's not what he wants. Another stance to take is because of Tai's involvement towards the end of the season & play offs & Team GB rides then subsequent refusal to ride in 2017, this might not be Tai talking but his management/PR team testing the water to see what might happen in 2017 or 2018. There does not seem to be many posters from his previous clubs having a dig at him but I do think the term "Testimonial Meeting" for riders is abused.
  16. Only a few months earlier, at the same stadium, he was almost a hero bringing World Team Cup glory to TeamGB. The silver was well deserved for the teams efforts. At the play off final it was twit for tat. Both Tai & the fans gave as good as they got..............., wind up and banter.
  17. Jordan Jenkins has been riding in the British Youth Championships at 500cc level against K Bickley, T Brennan, etc & has had a few meetings at NL level http://speedwayupdates.proboards.com/thread/16071/round-8-redcar-27-2016 http://speedwayupdates.proboards.com/thread/16036/round-7-eastbourne-20-2016 http://speedwayupdates.proboards.com/thread/16008/round-belle-vue-13-2016 http://www.speedway-stats.co.uk/Rider/694
  18. It is not just the entertainment at the Speedway but the entertainment at the football ground, & they are winning & at the top of the table, that keeps attendances low. The Steelworks, on its own, once employed over 15,000 people & the town & districts a population over 80,000. It is the towns mentality that we all have different interests & work different shift patterns that can lead to week ends being family/chill out time. There is, also, the well known fact that speedway is not well known about in the town & the EWR is on the outskirts & not easily accessible if you have no mode of transport.
  19. It is last years assessed figure. Riders then achieved a true average after 4H 4A but could not be lower than 3. The NEW low for 2017 is 4.
  20. Fixed race nights for Premiership & Sky - Monday & Wednesday. Championship any other nights to fit in with other European leagues as it minimises guest manipulation for double uppers There are not enough riders available for 1 league to make it fair & equal due to the ease of riders being snapped up as assets.
  21. This owning a rider or being an asset is a mockery in our sport. Teams sign riders, hoping for them to improve, but, as in the EDR system this last 2 years, choosing an asset made some teams reserves a joke scoring well & becoming heat leaders. It was the rules that failed them as riders should only move up or down a step depending how well they did. If a rider has not ridden for his "parent" club for 3 or 4 years then he/she should be sold/freed from the parent club.
  22. Scunthorpe Scorpions had the perfect score of 75-15 against Newport on 29th May 2006 in the old Conference (now NL) days.
  23. So what they are saying is that the difference between a Premiership side & a Championship side is replacing a 2 point rider for a 4 point rider between the two leagues. There would not be a "cat in hell's" chance there would be a fair challenge between the 2 sides from differing leagues wether a challenge or end of season promotion/relegation play-off.
  24. As they have an excellent clubhouse, why not use it & name your team in front of your fans & make some money out of the evening.
