Berwick 2017 50th Year
IronScorpion replied to balderdash&piffle's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Berwick have acted within the rules, same as Scunthorpe & Ipswich in that team changes were made where new averages were applied(4H 4A) coupled with riders team building averages were applied where the 4H 4A was not reached or like for like swaps within the riders averages. What has got most people posting is the fact that with Gappmaier , a re-declaration is based on Gappmaier still being a 4.00. Others are posting that if like for like, his 4.57 should be used. You cannot have it both ways. -
Once bitten, twice shy! Probably earn more money doing Premiership & Championship than taking a risk & getting a squad place but hardly any meetings.

1 meeting, 4 meetings, 7 meetings to use an average. That is why they set a point of 8 meetings(4H 4A) to get a more accurate average. From what people are saying, you should be allowed a replacement up to 4.57 because that is his current average. What would happen to the Scorpions if Nielsen was to get injured guesting for someone. Would we then be allowed to use a guest up to his current 8.00 average. People need to look at the bigger picture & not SELF, SELF, SELF. -

Auty was on 7.01 & scored 8 in his 4th Home to increase to 7.31 & Kerr was on 5.98 & scored 7 in his 4th Home to increase to 6.30 so probably were, just. As for the use of guests, I am aware. It is just that some posters are saying that if they make a change for Gapp, it should be based on his current average. -

It is more of a joke when a club can claim a rider as an asset when they have NEVER ridden for that club -

He may be averaging more than his 4.00 average but you have only been allowed guests up to his 4.00 average & not his current 5.79. That should tell the story. -

Berwick have done the same as Scunthorpe & made changes when 3 riders averages changed. Morris 8.97 Bridger 6.26 (new average from 7/5) Doolan 7.26 (new average from 7/5) Howe 6.72 (should be less due to year out injured then retired) Etheridge 4.00 Gappmaier 4.00 (not completed 4H 4A yet) Payne 2.61 Total 39.82 -
So we have had 11 pages with over 150 replies with posters still guessing what the "Massive Project" is. Is it his autobiography, his offer to help the youngsters reach the next levels of their careers or the pregnancy news. The guy is a master of his craft that has reached the top of his craft not once but twice. It does not matter what people look like it is what they are good at & he IS good at being a speedway rider. Are you good at your craft? Do you pass on your knowledge to people that want to learn? Do you have a family & remember what it was like to have your first born?

One site but two pages give different averages. One says 7.26 & the other 7.35 for Kev -
Wilko is Wilko, Mr Dependable. For some reason, at his age, he has improved by him being in the old EL league, whether that was because of more meetings, learning off the better riders or more money meaning he could improve his equipment, I don't know. This year, however, he started off scoring well as riding with Ryan, who was riding with new engines trying to get the right set ups, Wilko was racking up the points. Now riding with MPT, his scores have decreased & expectedly so. What I find hard to father out is why he rides the inside so much now plus we are normally guaranteed 1st or 2nd in heat 8. It is, also, worth noting that I have not seen him with a mechanic much so is looking after his bikes himself.

Do not forget we started from scratch this year so no rolling average from 2016 & beyond just team building averages. We made our change after 3 riders had received new averages from their 4H 4A meetings & 3 riders with old team building averages but still having to make the team average below 40. After yesterday, 2 more riders receive true averages which will take us above 40 when they take place after 7 days. Any further change will have to be like for like or below rider chosen.

4.00 is this years new minimum for foreign riders(used to be 5.00 assessed)
-
It is unfortunate for Josh as I think he would have liked to still be racing in both leagues for finances & match sharpness. His lack of availability was the reason given for the change & that was down to our fixtures. As it seems, Rob wanted to get a lot of meetings in early so we would be the first to make changes if required(as it was, we did) & the meetings we raced away at coincided with being similar race nights to Leicester.
-
Hi Rob. I understand it is a new average that only includes 2017 League meetings and, also, how the word "rolling" is interpreted. The word "rolling" meaning "continuous" as what I meant & what I posted was that it was all 9 meetings rolled together for Palm-Toft & Wilko & the 8 meetings for Douglas. As I understand it, if Auty & Kerr ride on Sunday, it will be their 4th home meeting so they will be given new averages which will come into effect 7 days later(Auty for 8 meetings & Kerr for 9 meetings). An updated average will then be given for these 5 riders on the 1st of June for all the meetings the riders have ridden in up to & including the 20th May which, hopefully, be 12 meetings for Palm-Toft & Wilko, 11 meetings for Douglas & Kerr & 10 meetings for Auty. It can be confusing at times.
-
Over the years, when Sky were in town, they dictated when you raced & it was mainly Monday & Wednesday so there you have it. Two race nights that are available for Premiership clubs as & when it suits. All Championship clubs do not race on these nights thus eliminating or definitly minimizing, the use of guests.

crescent girl posted this in Berwick v Scunthorpe post #172 18.7.2 An SGB Championship Team's initial Declaration must not exceed 40.00 and must include at least 2 riders who have competed in or are eligible to enter the National Development League (Conference League), one of which must be at #7 by CMA. 18.7.3 It must not exceed 42.00 points in any re-declaration following the issue of established CMA’s for 2017, except where the MA of the introduced rider is equal to, or lower than the rider being replaced. Any re-declaration must still include 2 riders who have competed in or are eligible to enter the National Development League (Conference League) This has still got me thinking about another possible change going by the written rule but open to interpretation(or how I see it).

Team And Riders, Points Changeover ?
IronScorpion replied to g13webb's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
As Scunthorpe have now ridden their 4th Home meeting after 5 Away, 3 riders have now been given new averages from 30/4/2017. I had worked out their averages based on all 9 matches, 4H & 1st 4A then 4H & last 4A. The figures given are from all 9 matches once 4H & 4A have been achieved so it will be a continuous rolling average throughout the season. 16.2.7 A SGB Premiership or Championship League rider will establish an MA after 4 Home and 4 Away fixtures, becoming effective 7 days after the last qualifying Meeting. Should an Established MA not be achieved to be effective from 1st May, then the MC may issue a revised MA, based upon actual rides if the Team re-declares. -
New averages are out for 3 of our riders. For Palm-Toft & Wilko it is after 4H but all 5A & for Douglas 4H 4A Going by how they have worked them out, it is a rolling average once 4H & 4A have been completed

Welcome back Stefan & hope you can help us get close to our glory days of 2006, 07, 11 & 12. His average is close to a few of the guys in the main body so should always have a decent no6. I thought we might have a bit more to play with so another change could happen if a rider becomes eligible. Glad you have got a spot you deserve & proven by your early season form in individuals & guest appearances.

he has ridden here before in an amateur meeting. Track surface is a lot different to league racing but showing he has the bottle. Aussie tracks are notoriously small so Edinburgh should suit him. Took to the open, wide bends well. Posted by dhr himself in Wolves 2017 post#1637 First of all I have had no contact with any clubs so far let alone wolves, so I don't think you need to worry about myself. Regarding the average, all I can go with is the information that I have been given, which is 6.72\1.4=4.80 David Edited by dhr, 20 April 2017 - 03:49 PM.

Berwick V Scunthorpe Championship 22/4/17@7-00pm
IronScorpion replied to Normski's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Why change Wilko? Scoring nearly 7 at home & 5 away which is probably what Rob & D Peet were hoping for. AT home can get 1st, 2nd or 3rds regularly(don't know why he is not riding wide much now) & hoping away, he gets 3rd places & wins heat 8. The top 5 do not need changing as it's just the problematic reserves. If the new averages allow, the new no 6 could be anything around the 6 point mark if re-declaring to 42, -
Albert. Rob did say from the centre green that he tried to get a guest for Kerr(Bates) but he was already guesting so limited options. I can't believe what I read from Fozzie ...............Praise rather than a pull down. Wonders never cease. The rumours from the terraces are just talk, but what I find hard to fathom, but not disputing what David has said as it was backed up by CVS from Wolves. If David is on a 4.8 ave(6.72 / 1.4 his old 2015 CMA divided by the conversion factor this year of EL ave x 1.4 if not got a PL ave), does this then apply to all riders that have not got a place, ie Jacobs, Nielsen & others this year. I expected David's to be reduced because of having a year out. To follow Scunthorpe's averages, they are on the Speedway GB website http://www.speedwaygb.co/scunthorpe17 Just click on team name to view any team from the 3 divisions
