For me it's all motorbike racing...I'm probably a bigger fan of moto gp and superbikes than I am of speedway. I also like some types of car racing...and most extreme sports...oh and darts..

I can't ever remember seeing many motorbikes outside a speedway stadium...maybe 5 max...but go to real bike racing and there are thousands sometimes. So even 40 years ago bikers didn't go to speedway in their masses.

I'm glad you say most...I'm a huge motorbike racing fan....follow and attend as much as I can...and have road bikes...Maybe not many fellow bike riders or bike fans follow speedway cos there isn't any bike brand association??? Or maybe it's cos most other bike fans think it's just going round and round in circles? Plus I can take my road bike..which is raced in superbikes and take to the track myself .

Or instead of not watching....just turn the sound down like I do.

I'm sure it also seemed like the teams had bigger rivals as well...when I was younger ipswich seemed to win a few things...and the arrival of a team like belle vue also winners at that time always added to the occasion.. Belle vue also had a few fans that would shout out things to wind up the home teams fans..creating a bigger atmosphere in the stands. And at foxhall we also had some flamboyant Americans like Cook...they always performed to the crowd like entertainers. Like you I have dvd to look back on....and the racing wasn't any better....a few crackers yes...but normally just the usual follow my leader.

Agree with that.... The racing wasn't any better...just the fact I was younger and excited at watching bikes going fast and making plenty of noise....throw in a bigger crowd making more atmosphere...and it makes the past seem better.

As long as the gp are shown...then I'm happy with that..not worried about team speedway being shown.

Wouldn't the TV viewing figure be better if that was the case??? It's not very well watched. Its just reaching the end of its life...and that's all these is to it.

I just don't see it ever stopping declining....the world has moved on to other things. Everything has a shelf life and team speedway in Britain has reached its sell by date.

OIt's sad to say...but I don't ever see team speedway becoming a big thing ever again in this country anyway. The youth of today are totally different to what most of us were when we were that age. And it's not just the youth..its the 20 and 30 somethings too. Most seem to do not much else than stay in there bedrooms on their play stations and talk to their friends on head sets whilst doing so. I don't see much about team speedway that would have any interest at all to them. I also know of many people like myself of my age that have fallen out of love with it to...the fourty somethings.

With the greater attendance with new and returning fans...it should have been a good opportunity to do a survey on why the new fans went and the old ones returned and what would be needed to be done to get them to come back again...and actually ask people what they would be prepared to pay on a weekly basis

Depends on your market surely. If your company produced or sold incontinence pants or mobility scooters then probably not....but if it's something young and trendy then yes I would. That look is very much a part of today's society.

Did any Coventry fans go to watch at wolves or Leicester or Peterborough last season??? Surely some did which would have boosted the crowds at those tracks

If it was cheaper..do you think more people would go???? I'm not sure they would...not in enough numbers to counter act the price drop...those that rent stadiums won't see their rent go down to compensate lower admission prices...and would lower admission prices make the sport any more appealing and cooler???? again..I don't really think so. The whole thing needs completely re branding to create a new and different audience to the one it attracts now.....and even that may not be enough...but maybe just maybe it might.

You see that at most tracks...they all walk towards the exit before heat 15 and then rush out of the gate on lap 4 of heat 15..but a fair few do it and they then sit in traffic. The daft thing though is even if everyone leaves at the same time..it barely takes 2 mins to get out of car park since so few people go .
