  1. I met up with Andy at Collier Street last year. He was telling me about the injury to his arm and how slow it was in healing. Really embarrassing he said I hadn't changed since we were kids at Canterbury
  2. Excellent clip there Grachan thanks for that made the hairs on my arms stand up on end, must show some of the doubters of speedway what a wonderful sport it is they always say first out the "TRAP" (I ask ya!!! can't even get it right can they!) wins that just goes to show what racing is all about.
  3. Sounds like my kind of magazine is it too late to subscribe as the website is 2003© so exactly how many issues have I missed so far? and how much will it cost to get the lot that are back issues. Checked on the website and it wont let me into the back issues part.
  4. Andrew had a nasty accident at Kingsmead and ended up at Kent and Canterbury Hospital for a few operations before being allowed home, I went to visit him a few times with Auntie Una from Hackney. Also remember the time when Andrew stuffed someone through the pit gate at Kingsmead hmmmmmm picked on the wrong fella there didn't he
  5. Be worse than having puppies I'll probably be a gibbering wreck by Friday night anyway

  8. it's my ball I'm not playing ner ner ner ner
  9. Bit naughty Mick enquiring about the price when you have plagued these people for speedway related items Does really depend who they are signed by I know Unc. has one that is from the 50th speedway anniversary signed by all the riders in attendance that night. Already told him about the value of that one so I know he wont part with that easily
  10. That should read never Mick, I know he parts with nothing Especially after I told him what his body colours with the signatures on are probably worth
  11. Mick as in Raven? Why the change in name?
  12. hope this was worth the wait.......... There was no monies left at Canterbury City Council to fund the project, the football club owned the lease at Kingsmead therefore their monies were tied up and there was a lot of protest from neighbouring houses concerning noise. Spoilsports

  16. Thanks Woody brought me back to earth with a thump there. If wit was xxxx you'd be constipated
  17. I think years ago it was a hobby sport rather than a working sport the competition was there but most of them had full time jobs as well as riding whenever they could, my Uncle retired from Speedway in 1980 to carry on our family business due to illhealth of my grandfather. All the while he was riding my god there really are some stories to tell and like I say the VSRA brings the riders together and the beer flows and so do the stories it's great to have been a part of the 70's/80's and appreciate the stories that are being told. Those that are unfortunate enough not to have been around way back then, you'll never know what you missed speedway today is so different, we never had SKY Tv., we had Dickie Davis and World of Sport on a Saturday afternoon just before the wrestling we'd have a climpse of speedway oh what a treat that was, just before getting ready to go to Canterbury for the evening, those were the days
  18. The VSRA is an ideal opportunity to meet and chat with Ex-riders and believe me they really do have some stories to tell, Keith White and our very own Middlo had me crying at the things they used to get up to "on tour" in their wild youth days.
  19. It would be nice though wouldn't it, I agree with (my god did I just agree with someone ) Shaggie regarding David Norris and Dean Barker oh and what about Sir Kelvin
  20. I'm still here.... A biography of Michael Lee, eh? Hmmmm... Is that a yes then? can I reserve my copy now please
  21. Where's Norbold when you need him.
  22. Boywonder you have a such a way with writing there, I must admit that is probably one of the only long posts (oh and Tabby3's ) I have ever read all the way through. Like I've said before Michael Lee was my hero (BL anyway ) back then, I've read a lot of stories over the years from people who weren't even around back then so how they can comment I don't know. There is a forum member that knows quite a bit of what went on back then and it has been hinted at before on here. Maybe if the SS was to interview a few more from that era the squeeky clean images of a lot more riders would disappear and all of our memories would be in tatters. Michael Lee was good enough and open enough to be interviewed and put his side across regarding his life on and off the track. I say 10/10 to him doesn't make me like him any less than I did all those years ago. Oh and one more important thing just because my hero took drugs didn't make me do it either!!
