Think most riders at some point in that era had a Cortina
-
I can't promise anything Kev ( it's not in my nature) but.......... my dad bought a bike from a man in your neck of the woods, when he went to his house dad was amazed at the amount of Canterbury memorabilia that he has stashed in his garage. I will try and find out his phone number so that you can contact him and have a rummage. No riders stashed in his garage as they are all in mine.

Hmmmmm well there are a few Queens out there I'd have to vote no on this subject, I can't see how you can win a meeting from a Golden Joker, if the team had rode better to start with there would be no need for them to have to do this in the first place.

As already mentioned by someone else....... in other sports eg:- Football they don't have guest players they have players on contracts loaned out. In speedway they own riders contracts in this case, as I really don't understand the contract part does this mean that for instance Mark Loram contract owned by Exeter (for arguments sake) riding for Eastbourne if they have a long term injury can he be recalled back to ride @ Exeter as they "Own" him? or has he signed another contract with Eastbourne. God I've confused myself now

Why can't I live in Oz for the Winter like Bryn does

Sorry falcace, I didn't think about how they became world champions when I posted, I was just commenting on the fact that they both within their rights of being World Title record holders. Jez I think hit the nail on the head when he said : "I dont think you can compare the two riders at all. Two totally different era's of speedway with different rules, machines etc. Only think you can compare riders who have ridden at the same time where there is stability in rules, tracks, machines etc." Both Ivan Mauger and Tony Rickardsson are Champions. Michael Lee was my absolute hero as a kid (next to Uncle Ted and Kelvin Mullarkey of course ) but Hans Nielsen ............. pure class.

Which Gp's Are People Planning To Go To??
shazzybird replied to Jez's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
If I didn't have an "I want gang" I would go to all of the GP's and World Cups but then again I can't so it just looks like Cardiff for me, what an excellent day out. -
He actually has more than 6 "World Titles" as reported in a newpaper in NZ a couple of weeks back he has at least 10 "World Titles"
-
Oh god no..... perish the thought of chasing Honey! Will give Honey a definate slap if he goes into his "alledgedly Mode". Honey like most of us was just a kid when these riders gave up, so he's going on speculation, which can be very damaging to people alledgedly or not.

Thanks CS that's exactly what I meant, just went around the houses explaining it

As the one off meeting for the world title no longer exist Ivan Maugers' record cannot be broken, therefore he will always have the crown for his record number of World Championship titles until this event is resurrected, if ever it is TRick on the other hand has set a new record for the GP series World Championship title. I've read this and read this, I understand it I think then again maybe I've not worded it right but hey I know what I meant

To be perfectly honest I have never understand any of the rules in any sport (apart from the offside football rule!) As long as I get an entertaining speedway meeting, with decent riding no one hurt and the riders I like to watch winning races, you can have whatever rules you like. Whether you like it or not the rules are there to be carried out and nothing is going to change them until the end of the next season, so sit back and wait for the 2004 season to begin and enjoy "Our" sport. Congratulations to Middlo on taking up the position of Team GB Manager for another season. Have every faith in you, this year we will win the World Title
