  2. Kadina long track South Australia, sunday 25th Jan held at the kadina show grounds about 600meters long I think. Its a once off event I think there was on there about 10 years ago.Should be a few names people may know from the past and present. Taken from the Gillman web site; Former Gillman Speedway Clerk of the Course, and current assistant track curator, Seane Chapman, is on the road to recovery following his heavy crash at the Kadina long track meeting in South Australia last Sunday. Chapo spent a lot of time at the track last week, helping to prepare for the meeting, only to then miss most of it following a crash in practice. He fell in turn four and was thrown back first against the colourbond fence. He was initially taken to the local hospital, then flown to Adelaide where he was found to have a fractured coccyx. He was able to go home yesterday (Thursday) and, although still in a lot of pain, has started the slow road to recovery. Which means he'll miss the enjoyment of driving the water truck ag Gillman in 40+ degree heat! In his absence, the main event at Kadina, the Aussie Speedway Imports Long Track Super Cup, was won by Rory Schlein from Jason Stewart, Tim Heffernan and Tom Hedley. The race, the last of a 57 event programme was declared after Jake Anderson fell and damaged the safety fence. Fortunately he was not injured. The other major category, the 500cc Speedway class was won by Robert Ksiezak from Arlo Bugeja, Nigel Sadler, Sam Masters and Damien Koppe. 16-year-old Speedway rider Todd Kurtz dominated the up to 450cc FTX class and won the final from Rowan Tegart and former International Speedway rider Nathan Simpson; while Simpson won the over 450cc FTX class from David Footner and Shane Schutz.

  9. More digging and I have found this but cant find the link anyone??????? link to track site. http://www.milduramotorcycleclub.org.au/ Speedway action in Mildura during the early stages of 2009 will be beamed live around the World, following an announcement from Mildura Motor Cycle Club this week. Recent sponsorship for both the Australian Solo Speedway Title - on 7th January 2009 - and the Australian Sidecar Speedway Title, on 29th March 2009 has allowed the Club to contract Big Screens Australia to provide an on site telecast of the events as they happen, including action replays”. “We have had the big screen before, but this season we are fortunate to have both major title events and a new season partnership deal with beverage supplier, Independent Distillers, has enabled us to contract the screen for both meetings,” Gledhill said. “The Australian Sidecar Championship has never had on course coverage before, but we will provide that coverage in March of 2009.” In another first for the Mildura Club and for Australian Speedway, these events will both be streamed live on the Internet in addition to the screen being at both events. “People from all over the world will be able to take the live feed, for the payment of a small fee,” Gledhill said. “Big Screens Australia will bring a whole new dimension to the titles. “Being able to watch replays of incidents and the racing will elevate the professionalism and event presentation to a completely new level, not seen anywhere in Australia before”, Gledhill continued. “It will add great atmosphere to an already energetic live event – viewed live on the Woodstock Big Screen” he added. “For people around Australia and the rest of the world to view either meeting as they happen will be a unique experience. “Solo racing is incredibly popular in UK, Sweden and Poland, where local speedway ace, Leigh Adams competes regularly and is so highly regarded. “It is also popular in the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy and other Nations, where, through this capacity, people will be able to log on to the Internet, pay a small fee and watch the meeting evolve as it happens. “Many fans around the World will be keen to see if Adams can claim his tenth Australian Title”. The live stream will be available to Europe in mid-morning, so it should have the potential to attract a large international audience. “We are very pleased to be a part of these events,” Big Screens Australia Manager Steve Timmis said. “The Mildura Motor Cycle Club was the first motorcycle Club in Australia to use the Big Screen concept for the Aussie Solo Title in 2007 and they are now setting the benchmark again, being the first to use the giant 40 square metre Woodstock Screen for an Australian Sidecar Title as well and stream both major events out live on the Internet. “Sidecar speedway is not as popular in Europe, but is going through a massive growth in England, so there should be quite a few English fans log on to the Sidecars as well. “We expect plenty of contact from Australian fans, not able to make the tour for the three round Solo series in January as well as good numbers of folk, who will not be able to get to Mildura for the big three day Sidecar Championship weekend, from 27th to 29th March,” Timmis concluded. The growth and significance of Mildura as a major motor sports venue in Australia has already been widely recognized, particularly through the Easter Power Sports Group, but the capacity for people from all over the World to watch events live from Mildura will further this growth. The Woodstock Big Screen will be at Mildura’s Olympic Park on Wednesday 7th January 2009, for the Solo Title and on Sunday 29th March 2009, for the Sidecar Title event. Both of these events can be watched live on the Internet by following the link on www.milduramotorcycleclub.org.au. For more information, please contact Brendon Gledhill on 0419 174 225 or gledhill@hotkey.net.au.

  14. More from the JACK YOUNG CUP Gillman Solos > 1st A.Summers 2nd A.Bugeja 3rd N.Sadler 4th R.Schlein. > Sidecars > 1st M.Headland 2nd M.Mitchell 3rd D.Treloar 4th M.Plaisted > Division one sidecars raced hard with lots of passing. Mick Headland half spining and hit for a slow flip . But in the final it was Mick all the way. Rory was in a class of his own winning every race but his bike failled 10 meters out of the gate! UK rider Kyle Newman did not score a point! There was a disapointing field of 9 riders. 350 solos had there first run at Gillman and were very fast Robert Branford 3 wins Brenton Barnfeild 1 win times were only about a second a lap slower than the big boys. Division two sidecars was won by UK visitor Mick Cave from Jack spear 2nd Dwyer 3rd and Kieth Bitchard 4th Solo encourage saw a couple of falls with Ben Hatcliffe falling and Mitch Goodwin riding over the fallen bike. Adam Briggs also hit the fence in a seperate race. Juniors produced some good racing with Aurther Sissis starting 20 meters back carving up the othe 4 bikes for a win. So next 3 races he started 40 meters back and came home 1st and two 2nds with 9 year old Dakota Ballantyne taking 3 wins. full results on the Gillman web site Monday. Ps it was only slightly warmer than the Best of the Best meeting! __._,_.___
  15. Hi folks From the Aussie Yahoo site; posted by Ron. Just back from Gosford. Chris Holder won the NSW Championships tonight. Apart from winning the final, he also scored a 15 point maximum. Kozza Smith finished second in the final (13 points in qualifying for the final). Lee Herne finished third (11 points) and James Holder fourth (12 points) in the final. Bryn will probably update further once he has had his medicine. Regards Ron Also from Lance; Aussie Long Track from Brisbane, Attended the meeting today very hot day, sidecar rider Kim French hit the fence during practice and was taken to hospital. The meeting started about a hour late and due to the heat there was lots of track watering. 1100 cc Long Track Sidecar title was won by Ross Brown / Craig Parsons from Micheal Kent / Karl England with third place going to Paul Newman / Daniel Newman The 250cc 4/ Solo title was won by the teenage rising speedway star in Darcy Ward who was Unbeaten in the class all day, while slow out of the tapes on his laydown machine, he came from behind all day passing both inside and outside in spectacular fashion, although he only took the lead on the last lap exiting turn 2 when race leader Jace Castles fell, Darcy went on to a comfortable victory. The Up to 450 cc 4/FTX class was the main event and approaching the final Darcy Ward looked the one to beat, again unbeaten in this class as well, he was away slowly and struggled to catch the early leaders. The race for victory developed into a battle between Jace Castles and Rohan Tungate over the last 2 laps with Jace Taking the lead from Rohan exiting turn 2 on the last lap, although it could be questioned as a yellow flag was being frantically waved for a fallen rider. Darcy battled valiantly for fourth place, was a gutsy effort in the hot conditions, only to come up short in his last race. Was some excellent racing in all the classes on a long hot day.

  19. Taken from the Gillman web site; Schlein, Adams, Holder, Watt and Batchelor will all contest this season's Australian Championship rounds at Newcastle, Mildura and Gillman, while Schlein is also keen to regain his South Australian Championship at Gillman. Anybody know of others?
  20. Yes would not blame Jason or Liegh if they were not racing, so will just have to wait and see who is racing, but Noddy will be hard to beat. 22. World First By Australian Speedway Bike Promoters Gillman Media posted Monday September 15, 2008. In a first for World Speedway, three Australian Speedway Promoters are providing a fully paid sea container to Australian riders wishing to compete down under this summer. Gillman Speedway Manager David Parker, said; "With all of the leading Australian riders competing in Europe during the Australian off season, it is becoming more and more difficult for Australian promoters to plan meetings, not knowing who will be available to compete each summer. So the promoters of the three tracks staging this season's Australian Championship rounds — Newcastle, Mildura and Gillman — have joined forces to pay the costs of shipping the riders' bikes to and from Australia, which will allow the riders to save money have their best equipment on both sides of the World. Dick Barrie, of Air Sea Scotland Limited in the UK, has organised the construction of purpose built crates, which can carry two dismantled bikes and some gear, plus a container which can hold up to 24 of the crates. Go to http://www.gillmanspeedway.com/news_main.asp to read more. From my understanding 48 bikes can be transported free! Once all the Ozzie riders that want to come then anyone else that would like to ride in Aust can apply Great move by all concered.
  23. Hey Vicar, is there any speedway sidecar action over there?
