I'm sure the recent trade talks between the two prime ministers included talks about international travel between the two countries. I haven't seen my Grandkids for almost three years because of the restrictions...so hopefully things will open up soon. The Daughter is a nurse over there and was emplyed on a vaccination program to isolated communities, it was soon halted because of concerns about Astra zenica, but now in full swing. Slow and steady seems to be the best way out.

Peterborough v Wolves 14/6
BrizHeathen replied to noaksey's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
This is a tough one to call. No doubt about it, Panthers look very solid on paper. However Wolves have riders who can cause problems throughout. If Morris Becker and Douglas have a good night Wolves could just edge it..but there are a lot of if's and but's here, and it could easily be a comfortable home win. -
To come close to honours this year there needs to be two changes based on current form. That should enable another big hitter to come in. A very strong top 4 plus the improving twins and one other...but who...and how.. Would Adam Ellis and Connor Bailey fit for Proctor and Bates?...purely hyperthetical of course.

Wolves v Sheffield 7th June 2021
BrizHeathen replied to Beowulf's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Not the greatest meeting at Monmore, a track that can produce good speedway. As for comparing Monmore to Poole, the last few times i've been to Wimbourne Rd riders have needed moto x suspension, bouncing into the bends on a surface far worse than last nights. However, i agree they do need to put things right. Wolverhampton council are not helping in any way shape or form either, the crowd limit is ridiculously low, regulations in the indoor areas are super strict, its not a good situation and there are genuine fears for the sport at Monmore Green. -
Thank You NHS Trophy at Wolves

I've seen plenty of waterlogged tracks in my time, somehow I don't think the rain that had fallen earlier was the only facor here. The surface was super tacky, akin to a clay / car track...not your usual slimy / slick water damaged track. -

Meeting postponed -
Just received my ticket for the opening meeting through the post, so all set, just need the weather to play ball now.

I'm not sure i understand the questioning of the small increase on entrance prices. Pubs have put beer up, hotels have put there rates up. Everyone is going to have to claw back some lost revenue after being out of business for such an extended period, speedway is no different. Most supporters will be super eager to get back into stadia and watch racing....can't please everyone though, thats the way it goes. I think £20 for a good night out is ok, all things considered, even though i'd be happy if it was less .

Not quite, i took the plunge into residing in deepest darkest Blighty, but there is still an Aussie interest.
-
The ticket office is very busy this morning, took me an hour to get through and i could hear other phones ringing in the background.

Any news regarding the opening fixture against Leicester on 18th May? What is the stadium capacity under normal circumstances?
-
They are pretty decent attendance figures. My question though is how close to capacity was it? For example if the capacity is 3,000 only 1,500 will get in, so potentially quite a few could miss out. Of course the capacity could be more than 3,000.
-
I wonder what percentage of the capacity attended meetings before covid? The stand always looked full but plenty of room everywhere else. Hoping nobody misses out, but so glad that we could see some speedway in three weeks.

2021 GP Series Dates
BrizHeathen replied to therefused's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I have a hotel reservation and tickets (I presume they are still valid from 2020) for Wroclaw. I have my eye on flights but very reluctant to book anything just yet. I'd love to do Prague but fear that one may come around too soon for UK travellers. Unless we see some rescheduling based on Covid restrictions, its a risky game right now. So many things to weigh up. -
Darcy Ward promoted North Brisbane Masters results; A Final - 1st Ryan Douglas 2nd Zaine Kennedy 3rd Jason Crump (dnf) 4th Nick Morris (Ex jumped start after a previous warning) B Final - 1st Nick Morris 2nd Jordan Stewart 3rd Justin Sedgman 4th Rohan Tungate

To be perfectly honest I don't think there's much to choose between Wolves top 4, if they are all firing they are all very capable.
-
My point is, you don't really know, and my guess is that money had nothing to do with Thorsell not riding for Wolves in 2021.
-
But...you'll never know...keep assuming. There's a lot more to it than points money. You've got guarantees, van or no van, accomodation, flights, sign on fees, etc, etc. Three heat leaders all on the same guarantee per meeting is one FACT I do know (not Wolves).
-
It always makes me laugh when riders earnings are discussed. It isn't really anyone else's business other than the rider and club thats paying. Most deals are private and us mere mortals really don't know. I'm sure we'd be surprised if we did. Rumours abound that a rider is earning such and such but its a subject thats taboo in so many ways.
-
I'm not saying he's dirty but Lambert's nickname 'Ruthless' isn't one i'd choose personally. The lads talented no doubt but he does chase back wheels.
-
Its got nothing to do with who can and who can't do it. Someone had to go, and it appears its because Thorsell was going to be based in Sweden rather than England. Thorsell himself said it would be a problem a few weeks ago.
-
Zagar has a nasty streak. Seen him turn right on riders at Kirky lane.. Ronnie Pedersen was a nut case when he rode for Peterborough.. Others that spring to mind are Preben Eriksen and Tim Hunt, but there's a fine line between hard and dirty riding....Freddie Lindgren is riding that line.
-
A team full of riders who can improve there averages, the secret to success in speedway. Ryan Douglas is flying in OZ, Nick Morris can surely improve on an average which came about after injury. Becker could be anything and Nicol should be a trump card at reserve, particularly once he masters Monmore.

Wrocław 2020 GP tickets
BrizHeathen replied to Alartz86's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Lufthansa just cancelled our flights, which were via Munich. They did offer alternatives but they weren't any good. In fact there was no option to fly out of Wroclaw. Like most people, i'd take a straight transfer of tickets to 2021 now.
