  1. What choice did they have? We ended up in a situation where they had to run on a waterlogged track anyway. Under normal circumstances tonights meeting would have been off. I have no idea what would have happened if it had been postponed?
  2. I really don't think the Speedway of Nations will effect the regular Saturday night crowd too much. Its not ideal, but to run on a completely off night to accomodate a few who have SON tickets is not viable imo. It may mean a few watching a recorded SON when they get home, but thats life...its worked for one or two GP's this year, and crowds haven't been that bad. Personally i've got a ticket for Villa v Wolves on Saturday afternoon and i'm still going to make it to Leicester..guess i've got lucky there with proximaty and timings.
  3. Conspiracy theories aside, what are the lineups for tomorrow's meeting?
  4. Its no more outragous than travelling fans trying to get to Poole (and back for work early the next morning) on a mid week October evening. Fair enough during the warmer months when a date is set and when leave can be planned, but an unplanned trip to deepest Dorset in October is a tough one. Just to even things up a little....
  5. I'm still struggling to get my head around Godfrey's infield announcer's performnces. Never mind this shambles. Not to mention other abuse of power in the past.
  6. Blimey, with all due respect to the riders in that Scunny lineup, it really is an awful way to treat the paying public and the Leicester promotion. This meeting was always going to lack interest because of the scoreline from the first leg but its taking the mick now. Godfrey should be fined for fielding an understrength team ...yeh right. Having said all of that, these kind of meetings often produce decent racing despite the scorelines, so fingers crossed for the sake of those attending.
  7. MPT being out and a different surface would have played in Wolves hands for sure. Maybe Rory should have stood down as captain for one night. Hard to tell from tv pictures but it didn't look too bad to me.
  8. All things considered it certainly looks like Peterborough didn't want this on. What happens if it rains again on Thursday?
  9. Am I the only one who thinks the Tigers may be lulled into a false sense of security with this result? A couple of below par performances from the Lions...low and beyold, two extra paydays...must be the cynic in me.
  10. There must be a way of allowing fans to choose what meeting (or both) they want to watch. A lot of fans leave after a couple of ndl races, which obvioulsy isn't great value for them. I remember Wolverhampton had a couple of double headers with the Dudley Heathens, many Cradley fans didn't want to watch Wolves, so the Wolverhampton promotion allowed them to pay in straight after the Wolves meeting, at the reduced price.
  11. They were indeed, not sure if being at Glasgow had anything to do with that though (off tonight anyway) but it was pretty obvious and frustrating that on a number of occaisions there were two or three riders at the tapes waiting for one rider to appear. Quite often with seconds to spare...according to my watch..lol
  12. Kent is a long midweek drive for most away fans, the early finish was appreciated by myself tonight. My first visit to Central Park and I was quite impressed with the overall experience and friendliness of staff and may I add reasonable food prices. A decent looking race track, although as others have said it was very slick tonight, with hardly any passing after turn 2.
  13. I agree but who in there right mind works for nothing? Or should i say who would put there life on the line for nothing?
  14. I tend to agree that not having a rider in heat 15 did deprive the crowd of what they paid for. Although I do very much understand the stance the Eagles riders were making. Its a difficult one.
  15. The bizarre tactical moves by the Eagles team manager didn't add up, then no third rider in heat 15 meant there was something more sinister going on. Not that hard to work out in hindsight but I was confused until heat 15. Hopefully someone can come up with something to get the Eagles out of trouble, that large piece of prime real estate down in Sussex shouldn't be given up lightly.
  16. Probably the worst track conditions I have seen in years. Visibility for riders and fans was terrible, riders were bouncing all over the place, and I just missed out on being hit by a rock the size of a golf ball...take away the large Leicester support and the crowd would have been feeble. The future doesn't look bright.
  17. I'm going to bet that he rubs it right in your face on Wednesday. ..
  18. I must be seeing different racing to some, I could swear i saw Nick Morris beat Danny King from the back in a great race a couple of weeks ago, he also passed Tero Arnio against Scunny and was pretty close to Steve Worrall before his fall on Saturday. Lets face it the track was pretty darn slick on Saturday, and the racers in the Lions camp struggled.
  19. A pretty decent night of racing. Was looking like a close one for quite a while. If Ipswich can get a few more points out of Cook and Crumpy they will be a big threat i'm sure.
  20. It was so blatant, right in front of the referees box too. The sudden fightback and sudden end to the fightback is proof in itself.
  21. I wouldn't go instead of the GP...not that silly.
  22. After a lot of consideration, most of our group are still going to Wroclaw. We didn't purchase Friday night tickets because of the uncertainty but sitting in a sportsbar drinking beer and watching speedway in a foreign country doesn't sound too bad to me. The tests will be an unwanted expense and inconvenience but my god it will be nice to get away. I hear there is an extra meeting just down the road at Rawicz on the Saturday lunchtime too...tempting.
  23. I actually thought the racing was ok last night, despite the one sided scoreline.
