  1. JC. Is there a clause in the TV contract? My understanding is they signed a five year deal in 2014, that means one more season of this nonsense. So another year of overpaid foreigners in Div 1, and average riders doubling up, but getting £?? a point more one night than another.
  2. Not to mention a brilliant track, I used to go there 4/5 times a season, well worth 170 mile round trip, wouldn't go there these days if it was just down the road.
  3. That'll have to be in the morning, then the cup final will be in the Evening. Seriously though, the promotion / relegation (Glasgow or Ipswich V Leicester) takes place on 2nd and 4th October. The final match that matters (at the moment) is Sept 16th, but that's at Workington, best laid plans and all that. That should give them the final two weeks in September to sort it out. What could possibly go wrong??
  4. There was a couple of moments when I wished they had a extra camera last night, but not too bad. Understandably they're doing it on the cheap, as it's a cheap 2nd rate sport.
  5. Looking at the real table it's Edinburgh you should be looking at, not Sheffield. Glasgow +17 Sheffield +16 Ipswich + 14 Edinburgh + 8 Redcar + 8 Boro, Worky and Newcastle all -2 But you've got a bit of a wait before their season unfolds, they go to Berwick and Scunny 2nd weekend in September, that will be make or break for them.
  6. Thing is Cookie, did your function include people standing / sitting around for 75-90 minutes with nothing happening? As said earlier, all promoters are just hoping to get through one season at a time, but what chance has our sport got when what happened at KL last night will just go away with no punishment, not helped by the fact that most of the idiots who were there will still go back for more.
  7. I think we could all get 3,000 people into Foxhall, just let them in for nothing one week. Lakeside tried it and got a fantastic crowd, but not many (if any) went back for future meetings, it was just loads of us having a free night out, I only went as me and the wife had flown into Luton that Afternoon.
  8. No I mean Sky, BT are showing it for peanuts, but Sky's agreement is until the end of next season. Well that's what I found out when I googled it. Would be lovely if the final payment was used to go towards things that would benefit the sport moving forward, but we all know where it will end up, greedy promoters and over paid riders. Unless of course form 2019 BT actually want to pay for something they can have for nothing, no chance of that!!!
  9. I'm led to believe that the Sky deal doesn't finish until after next season, so there will still be this joke division ( with it's crazy fixture list ) for one more year.
  10. Not the best of meetings, but got better as the night went on. But harsh to moan about the track as it was probably still under water in the morning. Hopefully Nathan S will make a quick recovery, certainly appears to be a season of bad luck for young reserves.
  11. I think he means heroes should be spelt like that. and days shouldn't have a thingy. But who cares???
  12. Weather gods are being kind at Foxhall again, 2 very wet days then speedway night comes around and it's dry. Missed Sheffield the first time so will be going tonight. I suppose we could be racing this lot four times this season, if Glasgow pick their nearest and dearest in the playoffs, then we'll (probably) meet again, and then sometime in the middle of October I suppose we'll meet again in the K.O. cup (remember that ?). Looking at the fixtures for the rest of the season, there's no sign of a K.O. cup meeting in either of the top 2 divisions mentioned anywhere. The joys of all this doubling up, arrange a new meeting? no chance we'll only have half a team.
  13. Would have taken a point before the start, as usual too many "ifs", but i suppose Danny's fall was the biggest deciding factor.
  14. Sometimes I think team managers change things to justify their existence. If they don't change the riding order then all they have to do is switch the odd reserve and pick the obvious riders for heat 15. Unless they actually can motivate somebody to get out of the gate quicker and make their bikes go faster, and I think we all know no manager has ever done that.
  15. Hopefully CL has mowed the lawn and got the mallets ready. MUST DO BETTER!!!
  16. Agree with Cookie, since Speedway has hit our screens my missus has never bothered to go. She used to be a big fan, but what's the point of forking out that sort of dosh when it's on the telly. If all meetings were like Vastervik (well worth £20) it might be different, but sadly there's too many meetings like that dross from Kings Lynn (not worth a fiver). As for this meeting, if we dont get 4 points we should take up croquet.
  17. Most promoters in this Country are very lucky we ever go. We all hate the double points rule, what do they do? NOTHING!!! We all hate doubling up, but instead of curtailing it they expand it to ridiculous proportions. And don't get on started on the 10 heats rip off, piss off we've had your money and we couldn't give a stuff about you as customers. Most promoters should be very grateful we're stupid enough to ever go and get charged £16 for 15 minutes. I only go to Foxhall out of some strange loyalty, but I certainly don't want to watch crap teams more than once a season.
  18. Decided at the start of the season I'd only watch each team once unless they entertained me the first time, Scunny don't fall in this category. The only exception will be the pussycats, as they keep getting it wrong, they'll have a completely different side when they come again.
  19. Normally at this time of the season the "real table" is a good indication of how the league is taking shape, but this season it's distorted a bit by who has ridden at Berwick and ( to a lesser extent ) Scunny once or twice. Normally + 8/9 would give you a good shout of the play offs, but this season I reckon it'll be + 14/15. So in a nutshell, don't drop any home points, get 2 wins at Berwick and Scunny and you should make it.
  20. 20 heats in under 2 hours, shocked, stunned, did that really happen? All those involved in an excellent afternoons entertainment, take a bow.
  21. Happy with a point. Didn't expect anything from our reserves, so pleased 1-5 did what was expected.
  22. For years us Ipswich folk would head over the border assured of some brilliant racing at Saddlebow Rd. Sadly stopped that some years ago when the racing became boring, maybe it's time you lot returned the compliment, some brilliant racing at Foxhall last night. As for Buster, he spends the winter saving clubs from extinction, then does all he can to ruin his own club in the Summer.
  23. Why do posters only come on here and mention the bad. Just watched last Sunday's offering from Leszno and Torun, brilliant stuff, plenty of decent racing from Leszno and the end to the Torun meeting was the one of the best I've watched for years. If it was like that every week I'd renew my subscription.
  24. Valid point, but let's face it, once the Sky deal ends and the clubs cant afford to pay Holder, Lindgren, Doyle and a handful of others, the 2 divisions will be almost the same. But then again, if things are getting so bad at some clubs that JJ has to replace Bridger, then hopefully we'll end up with one division and an expanded National league. But then the riders wont like that due to lack of meetings, I could go on and on and on, but what's the point.
  25. If I was a betting man I'd say this was a dress rehearsal for the play off final, but the realist in me knows there's a long way to go. Just hope we can keep it close and keep the confidence high.
