Been saying this for years. I even wrote to BSI about it once but all they said was it was there to keep the racing interesting which is not quite right. What it does is it keeps the scores more interesting. Chris Holder said that they lost because they were just not good enough but they were good enough and should have won. Please get rid of this Mickey Mouse rule or as you say alllow all teams to play it.

I was just going to suggest having the top 8 automatically qualify plus any rider/s that would have been in the top 8 if they had not been injured with the remaining places going to the top GP challenge finishers but I see that you have suggested it already so I will simply second your sensible idea. This way it will encourage riders like Scott Nicholls to try and requalify because it will be easier with more places available.

I still prefer him to Nigel Pearson. I agree he repeats things a lot but so does NP who I think is more monotonous and irritating and is quite frankly not entertaining 'Without A Shadow Of A Doubt' 'If It Stays Like This'

Pedersen did not just lean into Walasek he barged into him and Walasek quite rightly was having none of it. All of the TV pundits and commentators all agreed with the referee on this.

I tend to agree. It used to build up in interest and excitement as the meeting progressed. Would have liked to have seen all riders being guaranteed more than 2 rides though. When John Postlethwaite was asked at the time why it had been changed he said it was easier for the fans to follow and it didn't require them having to work out who went where in the subsequent races.

Some of Pete's points are Ok such as national champions qualifying but I would restrict it to the nations that qualified for the previous years SWC final. I also consider that the SGP World Championship may benefit by reintroducing some more meaningfull qualifying championships i.e Overseas/Scandinavian/European etc. I also agree with his and others' view that there are too many GP's but the jury is out at present on Pete's suggestion of condensing the series into just one week. perhaps one a month would be better? I would also be inclined to have the SWC every 2 years.

IMO only 5 riders are still improving and with 3 of them being so far behind at present they should be ruled out as likely winners. The 2 that are left includes the current world champion therefore I think it is more than likely he will win it again.

Bernie Ecclestone is trying to get the FIA to change the method of deciding which driver becomes the FI World Champion. He wants the driver with most GP wins to get it and it not be on points achieved. If this had been applied to the 2008 Speedway GP Circus. 3 riders, TG, JC & LA all would have gone into the last GP on 2 wins each and Tomaz Gollob would now be World Champion. Also NP, HA, GH & RH with 1 win each needed to win to join those on 2 each. Then the WC could have been decided by a 4 man race off or most 2nd & 3rd places etc could have been used to decide. As it turned out the series finishing order would have been:- 01-T.Gollob-3 wins 02-J.Crump-2 wins + 3 thirds 03-L.Adams-2 wins 04-N.Pedersen-1 win + 4 seconds 05-H.Andersen-1 win + 3 seconds 06-G.Hancock-1 win + 2 seconds 07-R.Holta-1 win 08-F.Lindgren-1 second +1 sixth 09-B.Pedersen-1 second 10-s.Nicholls-2 fourths 11-A.Jonsson-1 fourth 12-NK.Iversen-1 fifth 13-C.Harris-2 sixths 14-L.Dryml-1 sixth 15-K.Kasprzak-1 seventh

What's new? We didn't have one this year.

And when I spoke with BSI about wild cards they made it quite clear to me that they were necessary in case one of the top riders missed some meetings which caused them to miss out on qualifying. I guess they don't consider BP & NKI top enough riders to apply this facicilty.
