British Grand Prix 2012

The thing is. Not all of the other 10 GPs make money so it is down to the 40/50k that turn up at Cardiff to more than balance the books. Yes it would be nice to see better racing but at the end of the day it is the best spectacle and it is the one that keeps the GP series afloat. -

I would just like to congratulate Greg Hancock on his victory, Nikki Pedersen and Chris Holder for making the podeum, especially the latter considering his first 2 rides. The referee again proved to be controversial on the first full bend in the final. He needn't have taken Emil out but he has a history of always blaming somebody for causing first bend incidents especially at Cardiff where it is so tight that some degree of commonsense would be nice. Good to see Magnus Zetterstrom do so well. it would be more interesting if he could stay in for the next round with last placed rider Rune Holta standing down for the returning Artur Laguta. Rune would of course come back in to replace whowever is last next time and so on. -

Quite right. Team positions should be selected based on current form. Leaving a high scoring reserve at 6 or 7 is only fair if all teams benefit from this at the same time. Leaving a seriously struggling 1 to 5 in the main body of the team for too long will do no good for his confidence and may eventually result in such a rider being permanently damaged. The principle of rolling averages is OK but it would be fairer all round if it was based on a shorter and more current period

Italian Grand Prix

Please would someone tell me why Andreas Jonsson was placed 7th instead of Hans Andersen. They both had 8 points. They both gad the same number of wins, 2nds & 3rds. Was it because one of Hans' lasts was a non finish and counted lower than an actual 4th place finish. -

Congratulations must go to TG on yet another superb performance and if he had not packed up in the Cardiff semi final he would be out of sight by now. Just like to say though that with with most GPs now being about the usual suspects I now think that they are less interesting than they were. Is it now time to ask the organisers to provide a little more variety by replacing each GPs bottom 2 or more with other riders for the next one with those having been replaced to replace the next lowest riders and so on. -
I would like to see the lineup's of heats 12, 13 & 14 changed as follows:- 12-1&7 v 3&6 13-3&6 v 1&7 14-5&4 v 5&4 This would prevent riders 1&5 being asked to race against each other 3 times causing them to achieve lower averages than their ability. It would also reduce the averages of lesser riders who currently have easier races to a more realistic level.

Teams should only have one reserve at 7 who must be the current lowest averaged rider over say the previous 10 matches. This rider should be the only one that can be used to replace off form, injured or sick riders and may have up to an additional 3 rides. The next lowest average must ride at 6 and the rest, 1 to 5 may be positioned in any order of the TM's choosing. Each team's riders current averages to be calculated on a rolling basis of the previous 10 meetings.

Not if they adopt Celtic Boy's idea of 4321 & 8642. -

You are not wrong but I still feel it would be fairer to give a pont to the 4th placed semi finalists and at least one point to the 4th placed finalist. -

It certainly will. Not many Poles come to Cardiff because it is too expensive but I think more will make the effort this time with 2 of their riders leading the way. -

They would have been practising on it all week so they would have their bikes set up perfectly. Should be different next time. -

I just want to add my support to those who have praised Frederick Lindberg for his great evasive action. In the past I will admit that I have sometimes been critical of FL's riding style, especially between the start and the first turn but last night his couragous effort certainly prevented a serious injury to someone. -

I was going to start a new thread with this in mind but instead I will simply say in response to your above comment. Yes Yes Yes please let's have it this way. It is totally unfair for any rider eho finishes 4th in either the semi finals or the final to leave empty handed. Come on organisers change it for next season please. -

My first reaction was that TG had definitely taken away AJ's left leg but having looked at it again I am of the view that realizing that his leg was being touched he moved it out of the way causing him to lose balance. If he had not moved it he may have been seriously hurt. What was he to do? If it had happened on the first corner most referees would have allowed a restart but as it was not then he had to disqualify someone. Perhaps in such instances it would be fairer to allow a rerun with all 4 especially if the referee himself is unsure. -

Gp Grand Finalists

I somewhat agree with your first point but by allowing the top 2 to go straight to the final they would not have to race off again to qualify. By allowing the 3rd and 4th highest scores to go staight to the second semi final their job is easier than the 5th to 8th who would be required to race off twice to qualify making their job much more difficult than those who scored more than them. -

I think each GP must have a final and I also think that the winner should gain the most points. I would also welcome the KO system back but yes with less riders who should be given at least 4 rides somehow in the meeting. Going back to my original post however with the present format I think the top point scorers deserve to be given preference when the KO stage has been reached.
