I don't think you can say they will NEVER be good enough.... Some guys have bad luck, some just not enough track time or backing. It really should be renamed and the word Junior outlawed in racing..... I don't think anyone over the age of 15 is really . The negative comments on here are disgusting and you should have a real look at yourselves. The sport will only survive if new people are introduced, but they quickly walk away when there is so much venom aimed at anyone who wants to have a go. The guy who scores a zero one day could be the one who scores 12 another! That's sport for you. Everyone should be given a chance regardless of age, sex, race etc. And you should keep your bitter vitriol to yourselves as its not effecting you in any way really!

Clearly a bee in the bonnet of this kid! You sir are a disgrace and should crawl back under the rock you came from What's the harm in using an Amateur in what is supposed to be an Amateur league.... Surely this is a goal ALL amateur riders should be making, it's a dream to break into a team. Mid life crisis etc... It's actually the time when you have enough money to do things....not all kids have a rich daddy who can bank roll. Why shouldn't these guys use their hard earned money on something they enjoy.... And you should shut up and leave them. We only live once and we can't all be world champ or a pro rider...but at least this can emulate it on some small way and bring a sense of achievement. The racing at amateurs is actually better than some elite matches. Now quit your bitchin spineless

Gp In Auckland 2012
snapper-racing.co.uk replied to Bradford Ace's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Laguta wore a Russian race jacket in his wild card at the Latvian gp. I believe he was denied citizenship to Latvia, and there is a lot of red tape in that area as many Russians are applying due to Latvia being in the EU. He was Latvian national champion as they opened up their national competition to gain a more competitive field and to he develop the Latvian riders to a higher pace. Same as what has happened with the new Zealand championship in effect. Rune Holta is a completely different issue... He rides as a polish national as he has citizenship and passport. Just because you have a countries race licence doesn't entitle you to represent that country...many riders who come over to the uk will take out a Acu licence. -

British Grand Prix, 25/06/11
snapper-racing.co.uk replied to alan_boon's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Well the follow up coverage is as usual - poor... not in the news at all, only a tiny bit on skysports news so WHY is the biggest event in the speedway calendar just ignored by the media circles? I have had a theory for a while - where the sport is being held back - the only reason for this is for certain pocketeers losing control... but look what Bernie Ecclestone does with F1, just holds it to ransom. Where were the junior races this year? the whole pre match entertainment was...erm... pointless, everyone turns up just for the racing, so why cant we have some pre racing races or something to entertain The whole thing doesnt seem so slick like it used to be... Something else i noticed - sponsors, where exactly are they, its a couple of polish citys!!! Typical how the cheaper areas were packed - why pay more than the cheap seats - ive been to every angle of the stadium over the years, this year easily best, turn 4. Well done Greg and Zorro for the showmanship - shame a lot of other riders ignore the crowd I cant fault cardiff as a weekend - the location is superb, right in the city - moving it would be...dumb - now im familiar, as many are why would we want to change it - i wish youd all erase the thoughts of Wembley, its in the middle of nowhere....and the O2 is an equally difficult place to get to - the whole thing about the weekend is being able to walk around and chat with other fans and see riders about, the whole speedway community spirit. Just wish the cost would go down - £29 for the cheapest ticket? actually working out to £35 when you add card charge and post - £10 for a programme - then hotel and travel = expensive... and yes where were all the vendors this year? i noticed the SGP merch has decreased drastically, now its a load of fake sellers. Wouldnt it be better to have a totally sell out full stadium, the home straight was empty!!!! obviouslly BSI and the British promoters dont seem to realise the cheaper it is the fuller it will be. And why do poland insist on running meets the day after the british gp - thats insane - the FIM or someone should ban the other countries apart from the host from holding meets the day after a huge event like that - imagine if you were a rider, just won a grand prix but had to get the next plane...the travel schedules are madness. ok rant over Welsh open was ok too - but that seemed highly inflatted in price to previous years -
hi - nothing was loose apart from the rocker bolts...the bolt didnt break it was blown out completely, but didnt cause any thread damage

Where does the Amateur league come from? How did it come about? I hadn't known about all of what goes on, (but then I hadn't needed to know before.) The reason you dont hear about the Amateur scene is because we are hidden away - the speedway star refuses to recognise us and so does everyone else... its only because a hard working group of indiviuals put on the meets that it even exists, and continual support of certain tracks. We are campaigning more and more to get some recognition and columns, or pages in the speedway star... shouldnt the amateurs get the support - it could only be good for the sport right? where are these kids supposed to deveop otherwise?
-
I believe it would be good to trial a squad system in NL therefore giving lots of riders opportunities - it has to be made aware riders need to have an income other than from any racing, and for many its more of a hobby - so if it was more acceptable to do a few meetings in a season it would attract more riders and also help develop a lot more too. Im sure this idea could tap into the Amateur speedway world and give some of these guys an opportunity

International Meeting Balakovo, Russia
snapper-racing.co.uk replied to f-s-p's topic in International World of Speedway
I hope Zorro really proves you and the other doubters wrong - he earned his place the correct way - and hasnt got in just on a pick or wildcard because the face fits now get over it -
Sometimes Tape touching or rolling can come from a number of things.... I would not specifically put it down to rider error. 1. If the clutch becomes too hot the plates slip and pulls the bike forward - and its the most horrible feeling, you can do little about it.... this happens a lot if the tapes are held for too long. 2. Ruts - these can help push the bike forward in the start area - good if the tapes are up, but before 3. Others moving - very off putting as its a split second decision to drop that clutch. its not really fair to exclude a rider for touching the tapes if everyone else is moving before. 4. Faulty start gate - look at how Redcars gate went up all wonky when showed on tv 5. Start Marshall - some think its wise to bring the riders right close to the tapes - where as some prefer to be away more to compensate for movement - it happens and theres no denying the fact that these machines will move slightly - you cannot keep them completely still under the amounts of torque and power that are being held. Fair enough if its clear that the tapes have been jumped - mainly due to the rider counting the start (which is done by a number of riders) - but starts are one of the most difficult things to even learn, a lot of this has to be natural ability and luck!!!
