I think youll find its not so much the money - ALL the other teams work like teams, they completely help each other and ride as a team....the Brits I have never seen that same gel and its the same with the football team.... they never seem to put their own personal ambitions away for the team. Why do we ALWAYS lose when we're against Germany - because theres that Aura around it that they've beaten us so many times in the past... were always in the wrong mindset. I think you believe its more to do with equipment rather than team spirit and encouragement....we're always so depressed about how our team is so bad, so what happens, they make it true. Where is the money really involved????? I was in the USA camp helping for a number of seasons and that was a real team spirit, the reason they didnt do so well was because of the experience the riders had - so of course they struggled, we didnt have Tuners there.... these guys are only glorified mechanics at the end of the day NOT magicians, there isnt a switch to make things right - they just have an educated guess. Dont glorify these people because this is exactly how they make even more money!!!! its all psychological believe me. If we encouraged rather than battered we would have a strong team..... I think it also comes from training them as youngsters - bacuase the system isnt in place at the start it doesnt help later on Its also not all about engines - its about sprocket sizing and ratios which is learnt over time - its very hard to get it right in a first ride
-
Yes organising things like Tshirts and trousers ..... cmon guys...you really should listen. There isnt this vast gap in equipment you are led to believe - its all about knowledge and experience.... Tuners are good at knowing set ups, thats why riders have them in the pits...they dont suddenly work on an engine there and then, they just know what needs to be done to suit the tracks. Yes they have been out there trying to get sponsorship - well I certainly was a few year ago and nearly had something with Onfire sorted until the big wigs screwed it all up because they demanded excessive money to what was offered. Problem is its so screwed at the top that the house isnt in order....too many organ grinding monkeys..... and those that do try arent supported in the right way.

Greg Hancock
snapper-racing.co.uk replied to speedibee's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Some odd comments on here.... 1. Gregory does it because its routine - yes he does do it for sponsors too, but once your in a mind set that things go in certain order you dont change it....if he has total faith in his equipment before a race then its one less thing to think about... also the chains do slacken from when they enter the track and do a practice start - albeit it very slightly - theres nothing like piece of mind. 2 Gardening... He got of the bike because he needed to make sure loose dirt was packed down in the trough to make the best start, this is the world championship you know, if you make a good start thats half the work done. The inside is also where you always get the largest hole, so he had to take full advantage of it.... you cant pack it down so well sitting on your bike. 3. Theyre not empty cans, although one can be used - theyre bottles supplied by the energy co's - its actually in their contract to display it all the time especially on podiums... Crump also takes a helmet which also have the same stipulation.... You may not realise but Crumpy doesnt have RedBull on his suit or bike - so he has to plug it in other ways at present... I have seen the contracts for Monster and theyre very specific in what they want... I think these guys are doing a great job of marketing it.... Monster do not pay for any advertising through media - so everything is done through endorsements and word of mouth.... very effective and actually more rewarding. -

I hate the French too but at the moment they have a reprieve due to the Ban the Burka statement from big nose Sarkozy last week. I think its the fact they hate anything that isnt French - and wont accept we have a superior language... and Paris is a hole lol. French chicks - well thats a different story Always had a thing for that Virginie Ledoyen (The Beach) and Eve Green (Casino Royale) -

"Was anyone else as disgusted as I was at the insult to Barry Briggs on Saturday being asked only to present the 3rd place award? For someone of his standing in the sport to be upstaged by a couple of nonentities, improperly dressed in one case was degrading. Shame on you." How ridiculous - Why should he even be presenting anyway? Or are you one of these people who thinks someone who is world champion should automatically be entitled to an MBE??? (which is stupid as surely the honour is in getting the world crown in a chosen disipline - although MBEs seem to be given out like sweets to anyone who rows a boat or rides a bike and gets a gold medal ) The non entity you talk of was the marketing manager of the event sponsor Rockstar energy. So I think they should have a presence. Especially as they wouldve paid quite a bit of their budget on the event. He wasnt improperly dressed either - if youve seen podiums for other motorsports - they dont normally wear suits....and he was promoting his company. Where Mr briggs in concerned many riders have kept him in pocket through his retirement do we really owe him anything else? He was most likely there wined and dined and hoteld for free -

Okay that verse was abandoned in 1745. Yes you read right over 250 years ago - thats nearly as long as the USA has been around!!!!! God save the Queen is the national anthem for the UK - so its obvious it would be played - as well as the Welsh anthem which is where it is staged. I really dont understand the problem with you not being able to be British???? and having to be totally scottish all the time. Its like the football though - I guess you want England to lose all the time - even though I as well as most England supporters would probably say if we were knocked out we would support scotland - door doesnt seem to swing both ways. I was born in England but I embrace as such that I am British due to having some scottish heritage... no one is pure blood anymore and its like something out of Harry Potter. I just saw "mock of the week" and they even said in it that the English are so tollerable in that we have to live with a load of countries in the UK who really seem to hate us but would fall on their arse without us. Saying youd wipe with the Union flag is a disgrace as well and really uncalled for Maybe you dont like the monarchy - and Im not totally for the heirachy anymore, but the alternative of a republic isnt really one that would suit us - yet people like you dont think of the consequences when spouting about how evil the monarchy are. Typical bloody uneducated student protest behaviour about causes which are un-researched and un-thought of - but sound cool -

OMG £8 thats insane - The other year when I went I got one free with my ticket price which made it more worthwhile. Im just trying to raise the point that we are officially less well off at the moment - especially for luxuries and nights out... yes we may have a year to save - but for some it will take that long to have enough disposable cash to pay for that weekend. Yet it seems prices have not fallen and are not in line with public spending or incomes. They have in fact increased as have food prices and fuel . The stadium was far from full at the weekend, i saw thousands of empty seats - surely if they could lower the prices by a bit more it would attract more support and fill the place. Im almost definitely going anyway - especially after missing out these past 2 seasons - and with it being held on my birthday next year = Im just raising the point that we seem to be paying for the empty seats which couldve been sold cheaper. -

Well Im finding it confusing Family Ticket it says £35 - and yet it comes up at near £100?????? Its not very clear at all If you have a £29 ticket you still have to pay £5 processing (hmmmm stealth tax I think) so its nearly £30 anyway and wheres the 10% off>??? which doesnt really lower it by much. If we were realistic id be prepared to pay upto £25 all in Cardiff is an expensive weekend - yes its good (unfortunately unable to go this year due to the recession ) but they need to realise people cant afford the same prices as this or even a few years ago - everything seems to be getting more expensive recently including fuel - even when we seem to have even less Seems like because the price has been marked up for so long its just going to continue. Surely if they want a sell out they should offer some cheaper tickets... this has been speedways problem for years though. In all fairness its the atmosphere people pay for not the racing Im sorry but why shouldnt I have a moan if im paying>???? How much was a prog this year??? -

Im watching right now - and agree it needs a bit more "polishing" shoot the cameraman - needs a bit more smooth tracking and the voice over needs to be a bit clearer - I keep hearing breathing on the mic. Other than that Im really pleased I get to see USA speedway on the box for only an extra £1 - and im sure as the season goes on the presentation will get better A view f the pits and perhaps and interview would be cool too
-
I agree fully - and it seems that the sport wants the fans to bail it out constantly and feeds of the fact that its a smaller sport. It could be huge with a bit of proper management - and people could make money from it if only it was given full effort and concentration

Formula One Changes
snapper-racing.co.uk replied to mickthemuppet's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
NO - for one Ecclestone just milks as much money out of the sport as he can - hes practically killed it - surely when a big team like Honda says no more things need to be changed. What I do think should have been kept is the knockout formula - it was much more exciting seeing the top boy go out at half way - it gave a wildcard a chance of winning. Although the top 8 from a round should start the next from the beginning - wheras the bottom 8 should start halfway - making it a bad thing to win all the time as you have to work harder you would get a true champ then. At the moment all we get is one rider dominating and few else can compete. The thing is - to be world champ you should be consistantly good - (like Mark was) if you just win one or 2 rounds it could be just luck! -
I think Niels Kristian Iversen has been unlucky here. He's certainly been on the pace all season - and despite bad injuries, tried to carry on riding, even in the GP Qualifier, where he just missed out on a place (this was the day after the GP in Latvia carrying a dislocated shoulder!!!!) The only reason he hasnt gone in is because theres too many Danish riders - even so, credit where its due he deserved his place. Chris Holder too should have been given a shot, hes definately got class and the Aussies could do with some young blood in the series. Glad to see Saifutdinov in though - I saw him last season at Rye House for the U21 Qualifier and he was pure class - he had a GP style team set up that day for sure. All his equipment was immaculate and his team al uniformed up. I just think there needs to be newbies in this series, its becoming very stagnated. A return to the knock out system a few seasons ago would be good - I used to love seeing TRICK knocked out after 2 rides, it gave everyone a chance to win. Now we are seeing the same riders on the podium. I just think it gave it more thrill - made a mess of the programme, but it was exciting all the way through for sure. I also feel that the GP has moved to become like the F1 etc - a series in it own right. most riders not being involved in leagues (well the british) and yes its become a circus. the prices are too high to go etc etc - and still not giving the sport any coverage whatsoever - still preaching to the converted!!!! I thought the whole point was to gain more sponsors and more tv coverage and make speedway great again its doing the opposite. Something needs to be done to promote the sport wider. well imo

the boat leaves in 2 weeks time - I have to get my 3rd Place Amateur Trophy first, lol

erm.... I live in northampton so it has always been a trek to get to a training track. I was put off second halves by being told I was too old. Not exactly welcoming. Thats the whole reason I became happy with the Amateur scene at Scunny - long may it live, they all do a super job and encourage!!!!! I think thats what is needed, any Brit willing to have a go - regardless of age - should get encouragement. Not everyone will be a world beater, 2nd strings and reserves are needed too are they not.

World Cup At Coventry
snapper-racing.co.uk replied to Gemini's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I thought i should post a message after hearing all the talk about the - as you all seem to say "poor" American team. 1. I was a mechanic last night and worked tirelesly - just like all the rest of the USA guys to try and acheive our target of 3rd place. It wasnt through lack of effort that we failed - we are still proud that we turned up and put on a show. The Russian squad as we know are very strong - especially on a track like Coventry. 2. Does any one forget that the problem with the American team at the moment is WHO should be in it!!!!! With only Greg in the GPs, and a total of around 5 other Americans in the league who can you out in the squad?? Most of which are in the Twillights of their careers!!! This is all down to stupid EU legislation - the fact you can bring in a Pole on a 4.5 average and a yank on an 8 and is anyone helping nurture the Americans into the league (apart form CVS, and the Dream team concept) 3. Remember an Americans natural environment is a small track !!!!!!!! So please, support the Americans -
The site at Elfield is the one theyve earmarked for the stadium. The land has been redeveloped and built up and an access road has been put in place. It doesnt resemble the entrance it once did, as the trees have gone and the area smartened up a bit. The groveway site was due to be a housing development

Well you havent ridden at Peterborough or Kings Lynn then, lol Seriously though, through experience speedway forks do get more of a pounding. I destroyed mine last season at Wolves (and they have an air fence!!!), and Billy Hiles decided to destroy my other set at Brighton by crashing into the fence. Where are the fences in MX?? You are right the MX forks are stronger, but really only testing would prove anything. So lets see what happens
