It happens instinctively I think. they have one at Swindon sometimes and as it gets to 0:00 they are all there and ready to go. It's Pavlov's dog.

Meaningful Second Halves anyone?
Grachan replied to cinderfella's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Sure, meetings need to move on fairly quickly, but 60 minutes is far too short. I would say 90 minutes is a more reasonable time. You need some time between races. What you don't need is hanging around while a tractor chugs round for 5 minutes. -
Swindon v Poole. Prem B. 27/8/18. 7.30pm

The funny thing is, just recently you came up with a proposed side, and the only change made to the top 5 was you replaced the rider who top scored tonight for Swindon with a rider that scored 4 for Leicester. -
They'll never adopt it. Far too much common sense for the Bloomin' Stupid Pillocks Association (ha ha - see what I did there?).

But, you're not RR and don't know who he is! Jack Smith hasn't been the problem. The way the side was put together, there was no choice but t have the lowest average rider in the league at number 7, and whoever was there was never going to score. The problem was more inconsistencies in the top 5. If everyone had scored consistently at what they could, the lack of a number 7 would have been covered. There were no obvious replacements out there either - the posts of a poster who writes in a similar style to yourself but, quite obviously isn't you because you said so, prove it. Whatever options came up for possible changes, none were any better than what we had. And that includes at number 7. -

We still have the Ko Cup left to get knocked out of, I believe. -
True. All we have to go on is what has been posted on here - namely that King's Lynn have refused every available date. But you're right, it's always risky going solely on what is posted on the forum alone.
-
Unfair if it is one side preventing the meeting taking place. It could, as you say, be used tactically.
-
It looks to me like that is the exact same facts that they have been constantly publicising for the last 10 years.
-
I think the top 4 is finalised now. Wolves and Swindon clearly not good enough. Out of Somerset, King's Lynn, Belle Vue and Poole it could be anybody's. If King's Lynn won't go to Somerset, then Somerset should be awarded the points. It probably won't affect who rides against whom though.
-
Of course, although the Kilby, Richardson and Holloway roads were pretty well publicised before buildng started. It would be nice if the Ashby name could be included too.
-
Interesting to see some of the names for new roads being added. on the estate. Shuter Grove, Kurmanski Close, Hitch Road, Hewlett Drive. https://www.streetcheck.co.uk/postcode/sn254eb

If it's within the 2 minute time allowance, then what's the problem? They should have started the video later.
-
According to the rule book, any gate preparations after the 2 minutes expires is a starting offence and warrants an exclusion. For me this isn't really an issue in British speedway. There's more of an issue with the time it actually takes for the two minutes to be sounded, rather than what happens within it.
-
How is that different to the 2 minutes in the UK?
-
I guess Swindon still can claim Jason as a World Champion, because he hadn't been released when he won the title and rode all the rounds as a Swindon rider. I think we all know that it's Somerset who are getting all the joy of it, though.

So is your grammar. -
Although, to be fair, you could have had the same conversation with Batch a couple of years ago and got the same reaction. But, no, I can't see Jason coming back and my Hans Nielsen/Per Jonsson moment will be gone forever.
-
Swindon have lost their mojo now -and there's no World Champion to steady the ship any more. By being in the top 4, we still remain in the play-off race. But the reality is we just don't seem good enough at the moment and I can't see us getting into the play-offs. It's frustrating though. Look at the side: Batch, Nick, Toby, David, Adam and Zach - all capable of double figure scores and match winning performances. Why can't they all do it at the same time? All we can do is look enviably at Somerset. The club has a massive smile on its face at the moment. Doyley banging in a maximum. BWD battling away at reserve. How we miss those two this year. I guess it's the price you pay for winning the league, and I do feel that all of the 5 riders we retained deserved a shot again this year. Next year, if we still have a stadium, I expect there will be changes.
-
Why would he? Twice Swindon win the title, and dump him both times. Not getting a chance to see the World Champion at Swindon pretty much killed my enthusiasm for going to speedway this year, although, to be fair, Troy was a decent replacement considering the restrictions that were placed. Let's not forget that the "one over 8" nonsense was voted in by other clubs, but I would never have got rid of an opportunity to welcome home the World Champ.
-
The only way Jason will be back at Swindon is if Somerset decide they don't want him. But why would any team not want him?
-
Before my time, as I started going to Speedway in 1974! However, when I did go I realised I had seen it on television, and I'm pretty sure that this is the meeting I saw.

The continuing decline of Speedway
Grachan replied to wealdstone's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Well, I think you know what I meant Fixtures! One notable thing from that year - Barry Briggs injured himself riding in Germany and was out for a few weeks. No guest. Swindon had to ride with their number 8 riding at number one. And they ended up winning the league.
