Totally agree. I honestly don't know if people are just being shortsighted deliberately or just can't get it There is a good interview with Rob Lyon on the EDP website which hopefully might give a few a "lights on" moment. It can be found here

I wouldn't expect them until Wed-Thur next week. I ordered tickets for the Killers at the Royal Albert Hall which is this Sunday and they didn't arrive until yesterday. Plenty of time yet -
Have they decided not to use Holta then? Last I saw, they had named 6 riders (see below). Was hoping to see how Holta fared at the EOES SIX FOR POLAND Poland boss Marek Cieslak has named a squad of six riders for event two of Speedway World Cup week. The Poles face Great Britain, Australia and Slovenia at Peterborough's East of England Showground on Monday, July 13. Only five of the six will ride, with Cieslak choosing a trio of GP riders in his party for the trip to the UK, Tomasz Gollob, Rune Holta and Sebastian Ulamek. The other three are ex-GP stars Jarek Hampel, Piotr Protasiewicz and the in-form Adrian Miedzinski.

Well Richardson agrees with Lyon RICO BACKS LYON Lee Richardson has backed new boss Rob Lyon's decision to give Britain's young guns a go in the Speedway World Cup. Both Richardson (pictured) and Grand Prix rider Scott Nicholls have been left out of the team for Great Britain's opening meeting against Poland, Australia and Slovenia at Peterborough on Monday, July 13. Instead Lyon has gone for Chris Harris, Edward Kennett, Tai Woffinden and SWC debutants Lewis Bridger and Danny King. Richardson, who missed out on progressing in the Grand Prix qualifying rounds last weekend due to a kidney infection, said: "I had a long discussion with Rob and what he is doing sounds exciting. "He wants to bring the boys through. None of them ride in Sweden and Poland on a regular basis and it's good for them to get this international experience." Richardson, who was taken ill in his hotel in Croatia at the weekend ahead of the GP qualifier at Gorican, and also missed Lakeside's narrow 46-44 Elite League defeat at Belle Vue on Monday, has been put on stand-by to lead Team GB in the SWC race-off at Leszno - barring any nasty shocks at Peterborough.

I personally wouldn't bother ordering tickets. Went this year and got £60 tickets for £30 from the touts outside the stadium

Face it, we could add Jason Crump to our current squad and we wouldn't be in with a chance this year. Nicholls and Richardson aren't the future of TeamGB. It's not like we are getting rid of the old guard of multiple SWC or SGP winners. Apart from odd flashes, both are pretty much remembered for not so glorious failure. The comes a time when a line needs to be drawn under the previous teams and in IMO Rob Lyon's had the balls to do that. However, if we can blood the youngsters and bring them on, maybe in 3-5 years time we'll have a team in with a chance of actually winning it. The core of our squad for the next few years will be Woffinden, Kennett and Bridger and for them to improve, they need all the experience they can get. As for the previous comments about test matches, I believe Rob is trying to arrange an Under 23/Under 25 test match series in Poland. What would be the point of taking Nicholls, Richardson etc on that. I can't even remember the last time TeamGB rode a test match series away from home Personally I wasn't even going to bother attending even though it's just down the road but now I will. Looking forward to seeing the FUTURE of British Speedway rather than the same old has beens!

Get in quick and don't wait for the Sky confirmation The Cardiff GP is on July 10th with a 5PM start. Thanks Bob for that excellent insight into the meeting. Nice to get some first hand information from someone who was actually there. Hope Brendan enjoyed the experience. I'm sure he would of got a lot of it (unfortunately not financially of course ) Terrible news about Sonke. I remember him riding at King's Lynn in the U15 meeting all those years ago -

There are 5 qualifying rounds leading to two semi finals so I would guess at top 6 -
Good luck to the Team GB lads, especially Rambo Lambo. Shame his call up came about due to the unfortunate injury to Adam Roynon but it's still a fantastic opportunity for him.

Went to Moscow in October for the England game and to be honest was totally disappointed with the whole experience. The locals weren't exactly welcoming though I'm well travelled enough to know that you can't judge a city when 5,000 England fans are in town Moscow was certainly expensive as well, sure I read a while back that it's the most expensive city in the world at the moment. Ironically enough though, most of the locals seems to have sod all and most of the businesses such as taxi companies and bars are owned by those with organised crime connections. Certainly after that experience it would take me a few years to gather up any excitement to travel there again. On the spot fines for "offences" are very common, certainly know a couple of fellow England fans fined for very very minor offences. Getting a visa is a relatively easy process though you do have to send your passport off for a couiple of weeks. Ovbiously not a problem for most, but if you are regular overseas traveller it can be a pain. You can go down to the Russian embassy in London and get it done for a premium of course. To be honest I shudder to think what the country used to be like 30/40 years ago.

Thanks to all those who commented on Kozza Get a feeling he's going to be a real crowd favourite.
-
Hugh Skidmore - Got to be the best name in speedway. Very apt Could anyone who watched the meeting comment on Kozza's two exclusions? When I saw him in the UK he looked very fast but very raw. Does he need to calm down a bit or was it track conditions? Certainly think he will be entertaining in the UK this season but as I commented on the updates thread, think he will wind up a few opposition fans as he gets amongst their favourites Also congrats to Chris Holder and bad luck to Troy. Think he's destined never to win the U21 title.
-
Darcy Ward certainly impressed the Lynn fans who saw his appearance on a 500 in an Academy League meeting. He is one rider I hope Lynn keep tabs on and bring into the team when he is rider to come over. Looks a natural
-
How far is Krsko from Ljubljana? Have to admit I quite fancy this one as I've never been to a Slovenian GP (yet).
-
I think a lot of it is to do with the cost of staging the GP's in the larger national stadiums. For example if there are 2 GP's in the UK it may well result in a lower crowd at Cardiff as people may wait for a GP closer to home. Certainly if there was a second GP in the UK it minimises the impact of Cardiff. I imagine the same applies to Copenhagen as well.
