  1. I don't know , I only know of one person who was told not to come back , and that was about 4 years ago . But then you're more of an expert of events at Glasgow than any of us are
  2. The other side of the story is beginning from to emerge , from eyewitnesses , and it would appear that the so called injured party was particularly vocal and abusive . And with kids in attendance there was no other option . I dont think there is a track in the country that would tolerate that kind of behaviour.
  3. I did hear on Friday night that someone had been asked to leave the stadium , but to go onto Facebook using the name " John Smith ' ( seriously ) to have a rant only plays into the hands of the likes of Blobby . Thing is with our owner , he's a successful hard headed businessman , and just like Denham at Workington before him , treated people at a speedway track like possibly they do at the workplace is a no-no . Friday night was a bit of a disaster on and off the track , digging it up half way through the season before an important cup tie was a mistake , and one that cost us dearly. When riders started complaining about the track , the pressure of trying to remedy the mistake obviously mounted . Someone then shouting " this is a disgrace " was obviously the straw that broke the camel's back and the red mist took over . A sad and sorry situation that shouldn't have happened, let's hope lessons have been learned from Friday night .
  4. It is your biggest meeting of the season so far , so you might need the two threads lol
  5. Folk hoping we get beat isn't vindictiveness, everyone is entitled to support whoever they want . And if folk hate us because they think we're some sort of moneybags club , then that's fine too, I've no issue with that . It won't stop me enjoying going to watch the Tigers home and away .
  6. Believing fake profiles on Facebook is pretty much Like believing everything in The Sun .
  7. Ripping a track up mid season , after it has produced some good and entertaining racing this season , makes no sense whatsoever . Track is the same for both teams , but it was still an odd decision and a massive own goal .
  8. It's been not easy at times for the Bears fans since you came back in 2006 , but this season you have a team capable of winning silverware and out of the teams left in the cup , I don't see any of them beating the Bears over two legs
  9. Well done Redcar , hope you go on and win it now . As I feared , Greaves at reserve was the key to our downfall , though their three heat leaders looked very quick also . Plus side for us was how competative and determined young Connor Bailey looked last night , he's going to be a good un. We've still plenty to race for yet , this is just a wee setback .
  10. Must be able to as they are using it tonight , probably declared tonight's team first this week , waited a day or so , then redeclared for Sunday
  11. Given his liking for our track I would imagine Greaves will have 7 rides anyway , plus Palm Toft can have one of the r/r outings , presumably heat 8 , making pulling back 12 points quite a challenge
  12. This should be a tense and exciting contest as Redcar arrive with a 12 point lead from the first leg . Since then they have replaced Ostergaard and Smith with Erik Riss and Tom Woolley . Astutely they are continuing with r/r for Tom Bacon for this tie , before introducing Kasper Anderson . Anderson was very poor round Ashfield when up with Sheffield in the last round , so holding back in declaring him makes sense , as r/r could yield a higher points return . Wright and Riss will provide a potent spearhead while Nathan Greaves at reserve could be a trump card as Ashfield is very much to his liking . We cannot afford to leave any points out on the track cause , while not insurmountable, a 12 point deficit is enough of a handicap to make this a real challenge to our credentials. Can see this going all the way to the 30th heat of the tie , with fingernails taking a pounding .
  13. Can anyone recommend a decent hotel reasonably close to the track please
  14. Seems a bizarre move with the cup tie on Friday in mind . Ok Riss is probably an improvement on Ostergaard and it would seem Bacon might not be fit again this season . But Woolley for Smith ???? Dont see how that is going to improve things , and Anderson looked woeful at Glasgow when Sheffield were up in the last round . I was concerned about using r/r for Bacon in the second leg , as arguably it made Redcar stronger , but with Anderson and Woolley now in their side , I'm a bit more confident of Glasgow progressing
  15. Bickley is handy enough on his home shale , but Greaves is pretty good round Ashfield and will be troublesome
  16. All logic may point to Howarth scoring more than 4 , but you just don't know . He could fall in a race , he could have bike gremlins , he could go through the tapes , anything can happen . We had an alleged track expert as a guest at Redcar tonight , and he scored 4 . You just don't know what you're going to get with guests . So to start talking about rerunning the meeting is nonsense .
  17. We'll have Jensen back for Friday , that will make a big difference
  18. Maybe so , but that's the rumour . Friday's second leg has all the makings of a classic . 12 points is a handy lead and the tie is perfectly balanced .
  19. Put the pitchfork away. He's a young lad having a laugh . It happens with derby rivalries , get over it
  20. Never mind , all's well with the world tonight . That's Glasgow 4 Edinburgh 0 this season . Score would have been bigger today had the wind not blown the tapes onto Sarjeant's front wheel
  21. Agreed endless tractor racing and clouds of dust , no more afternoon racing during the summer months
  22. Anything else to add from the Monarchs book of after match excuses ? Ref tempted by bottles of buckfast maybe , temperature of the track too high , Tigers management putting nitro.in their riders fuel , wrong time of the month to race a derby match maybe .
  23. So with last night's terrific away win in West Lothian still fresh in the memory , we take on our pals again tomorrow . We're at full strength led by Mr Maximum , while god knows who Edinburgh have at number 3 . A packet of night nurse , a reliable guest or r/r . Should be a comfortable home win , just hope the sun keeps shining
  24. Had to laugh after the meeting at a conversation with those two notable worthys, Dick Barrie and Kenny McKinna . I said young Kyle was our man of the match and while Dick agreed , Kenny said " yes he can gate , but he looks slow which is a worry " . Kenny son , the lad just scored 10 paid 11 on an away track , and his crucial third place in heat 14 effectively won us the meeting . He can look as slow as he likes if he keeps doing that .
