Bit quiet surrounding this meeting . A must win for us to keep our slim play off hopes alive , could do with the Comets getting a result at the dump tonight . We won handsomely at Brough Park and only the same will do tonight

The Ipswich fan should just concern himself with his own club , which comes in for regular criticism from its own followers . -

For the restaging of the Glasgow meeting on Sept 14th , can anyone recommend a hotel not too far from the track please -
Last chance saloon for the Tigers as they have to overcome the Monarchs and have them leave empty handed to keep our diminishing play off hopes alive . The Monarchs faithful only seem to venture west along the M8 when they smell blood , so the 4th bend covered terrace will be jam packed full of them as they will expect to win after last night's mauling . Cookie should be back to spearhead our attack and there will be a return of race zero before the meeting as Bomber tries out which Allied mobility scooter he wishes to use for his 5 rides . Hopefully the forecast deluge doesnt transpire and we sent those pesky Monarchs home pointless .

Somerset v Poole Prem B. 20/8/18
Paulco replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Thoroughly enjoyed last nights telly match , and it told us quite a bit . Have Somerset got what ir takes to be champions ? - yes they have and i hope they do . Can Poole trust their heat leaders away from Dorset ? - no they cant . What about the riders ? Somerset Jason Doyle - back to his best Aaron Summers - steady performance Nico Covatti - came up with the big win when it mattered. Richard Lawson - as always looks the part when he gates Jack Holder - exciting to watch and forms a potent heat 13 pairing with Doyle . Allen and Wilson Dean are reliable reserves . Poole Brady Kurtz - jumps more starts than even James Sarjeant Josh Grajczonek - looks like a German porn star with that silly tache Richie Worrall - never convinced on the Oak Tree track as a Rebel and last night was just the same . Nicolai Klint - coping well out of the reserve position now Chris Harris - hard to watch great riders on the downward spiral Jacobsen and Woryna - did ok especially the young Pole -
Championship League Riders Championship
Paulco replied to cinderfella's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I seem to remember Zetterstrom copping a ban for choosing Poland over this . That kind of action is no longer a viable option now that Poland are the Exhalted ones in Planet speedway . But you honestly cant blame any rider , these BSPA events are poorly paid and riders would probably earn more after one race in Poland than they would get for winning this . As for Cook's participation , yes it's a bit daft having only ridden two meetings for us , but does it not make it a better meeting him riding in it ? Been a long time since the riders championship in both top leagues had any relevance , they really are just another run of the mill open meetings . But i never turn down an excuse to have a piss up in the New Barrack Tavern, so i'll be there . -
Where was the referee when all this head shaking and track kicking was going on ? Does the referee not have the final say on whether a meeting is off or on anymore ?

How long is it since William Lawson rode at this level ? He rode for us in around 2009 , dont remember him riding after that . It's a long time away from the sport at this level of competition . But good luck to him .

New Fixtures released for Workington Comets

Ooooo a conspiricy theory -
Cant blame the fans for that . In the two or three seasons post the 2011 title win , winning meetings wasnt a frequent occurence , even at home . But enter the Facennas and the stadium was transformed into what we have now . And the promise of a team to support fitting of the stadium was what was promised . Truth be told though , apart from the 2016 KO Cup win , the expectation levels havent been achieved . And the sad fact is , we're further away from any silverware than at any other time during the Facenna's tenure . We arent stupid , we know money cant buy success , but we seem capable of putting togethet a strong looking side on paper , but for some reason those sides dont seem to gel .

Calmed down now after the initisl disappointment . Probably the best meeting i've seen all season , when the Scunthorpe track is like that there isnt many better tracks in the country . I feared the worst when Cook pulled up in heat 1 , after his Cardiff crash , but he was magnificent afterwards , Scunny were more solid throughout and probably just deserved to edge it . Wonderful large and noisy away support bolstered by my friends from Plymouth. Brilliant work by the track staff to keep the dust down on a scorching hot day and i must say , the steak pies at the food outlet are superb . -

How painful was that . Bloody Garrity locked up on that fourth bend causing Harris to fall . But on the plus side , what a terrific speedway meeting . -

Cracking way to end the GP weekend , there will be a busload of us going to this on our way home from Cardiff to Glasgow . Might be a bit worse for wear by this time though haha
