  1. loved the recent edition and the feature about my childhood hero , Charlie Monk
  2. We'll be heading through with more hope of getting something , than we usually do , on Friday evening . Richie has been in great form this season and will lead the challenge against the Monarchs . Aaron too is coming into top form after a sluggish start to the season , and Richard is as reliable as ever , and scored well at Armadale guesting for Sheffield recently . If young Dan remembers the quickest was round there , then we wont be far away and the minimum target of a point should be achievable .
  3. August 4th then . Was a good night though . Pushing Crazysue in her wheelchair from the Golf to the track was hilarious , though a bit scary as the pavement shrunk in width as we got closer to the driveway leading to the track . Willie done his traffic cop act stopping the traffic
  4. Sorry for the mix up , had been a long day , we had been in the Golf since half past one
  5. Looked like a chain went by the way he came to a sudden stop . I know the Rebels fans round about me were disappointed ( understandably ) but from a neutral's perspective it was a brilliant night's racing . Some of the high speed action with four riders within a bike length was breathtaking and it's tracks like this that remind us why we have this sport in our blood . Rebels aren't far away , just lacking a big hitter at number 1 . However Josh Grajczonek was brilliant in taking the fight to the Wolves . Wolves were more solid and always seemed to have the meeting under control . Schlein was wheel perfect after a poor first ride and had excellent back up from Thorssell , Howarth , Lambert and our Richie . And it's the best I've seen Ellis Perks ride , he's improving fast . Brilliant night overall and great to see some old friends . And I think the Scottish referee was pleased to see a couple of familiar faces in the bar as he joined us for a drink , though I had to chastise him for holding the tapes a bit too long on a couple of occasions . And thanks to the lovely Debbie for the lift back to our B and B , much appreciated as it was very late . You don't get promoters doing that at many tracks I love going to Somerset , great racing and some of the friendliest fans in the country , it's a joy to visit the Oak Tree , roll on the Pairs .
  6. Thanks to everyone who made it an enjoyable evening at Foxhall . Okay the meeting was a bit gate and go , but it was always relatively close and that kept it interesting . I'd have taken a point before the meeting , but I thought the chances of that had gone after heat 13 , but heat 15 was the best race of the evening and silenced the massif round about me . And Mr Long , surely my accent isn't too difficult to understand Very big thanks to Super Blue for the lift back to the B and B , and to all the lads ( and lassie ) who came in the bar for a drink after the meeting . Another cracking visit to Ipswich done and dusted .
  7. Aye shame it's a severely depleted Wolves , that's doubling up and riding in multi leagues for you .
  8. I will , sorry you wont be there petal Always that wee twinge of sadness when I go to Ipswich , Badge
  9. I'll see what I can do All go tomorrow and the next couple of days . Working till 6 tomorrow then meeting Willie in the Horseshoe Bar in Glasgow at 8 . Few bevvys there , then the sleeper bus down to London . Thurs - 10 o clock train from Liverpool Street to Ipswich . Taxi from station to Abbey Guest house , throw bags in and taxi to Golf Inn . Few refreshments before walking down to track . Friday - 9 o clock train to Liverpool Street , underground to Paddington , train to Highbridge for Somerset v Wolves . Saturday - 16-15 flight from Bristol back to Glasgow and taxi back to the Horseshoe .
  10. Me and Willie take it easy on the beer while cheering on the Tigers ......................................well I do lol
  11. Yes of course , but we had a good laugh in the bar after the meeting , hoping for another good natured session
  12. Taking this in on my wee mini tour , will miss my visit to Somerset with Glasgow this year , so this is an opportunity for my Oak Tree Arena fix .
  13. Hope not , I've yet to see us lose at Foxhall . We need Richie to come up with the type of performance he did last year , and Richard and Aaron to back him up . Dan to carry on where he left off on Saturday and Tom and Jack to get amongst their reserves . Easy to say haha . Anyway looking forward to the after meeting drinks with the Massif , win , lose or draw . Hope we get a cracker of a meeting .
  14. Don't think there's ever been a Monarchs away defeat in the last 10 years where the track wasn't to blame , so I wouldn't pay to much attention to any of that . Track was perfect last night .
  15. Don't know about a wake up call , but the prospect of Davey and Clegg at reserve shortly must be of some concern . Had you not had a reserve scoring 14 last night , you'd be looking at a record defeat .
  16. KO Cup matches never have in recent seasons . Not even official matches according to the BSPA and Berwick 5 years ago .
  17. Nah she's too busy trying to get an independence referendum again
  18. Aye ok there's always an exception to the rule And the way things are at Ibrox , i'd happily take the not so slim Jim that came back from Sunderland and Nottingham Forest
  19. Anyone who's visited Kirkcaldy ice rink for an ice hockey match will struggle to have a soft spot for anything that comes out of that particular town .
  20. Not what Berwick need at all . Shame the track seems to have been bad last night , only a couple of weeks ago it produced a great meeting against Glasgow . Hard to see where Berwick go from here , obviously riders attitudes instigated the necessary changes , but the balance of the side looks all wrong . When you have a tail as long as that you really need your three top men scoring close to 40 points , no easy task . I hope things work out for them , last thing the sport needs is to lose another track , but home defeat after home defeat brings it's own dangers financially , hope they can turn things around soon .
