  1. No , we're speedway fans at the end of the day . Yes we love our club and we give them our hundred per cent backing , but we want to be entertained while watching our team try to win meetings . Aye you do get fans who want a stream of 5-1's and are not too fussed how that is achieved , but they are in a minority .
  2. I agree entirely . Yes the club wants to be successful and win things , but there is a duty to give the paying public value for money and races over by bend 2 and far too many stoppages because of track grading isn't doing that . I watched people leaving the stadium in recent weeks , sick fed up watching tractors going round and round . And you really don't want to see fans being so fed up that they'd rather go home . When Ashfield is prepared properly we've seen some spectacular racing this season , lets have that today and trust the riders to produce the result on a fair and exciting track , and not become too obsessed about trying to unsettle the opposition with a track they might not fancy .
  3. Day of our most important meeting to date , and no thread , we're getting lazy fellow Tiggers . This becomes the first leg now , so we need to be on it right from the start , and no prolonged tractor breaks when we build up a head of steam please . I'm not for a minute fooled by Sheffield's poor performance here recently , they will be more of a threat today , I have no doubts about that . Ricky Wells is always decent round Ashfield , and I've heard Theo Pijper's name mentioned as another guest , and we all know what Theo is capable of on his day . Kyle Howarth was Sheffield's best rider during the recent league meeting , and if Josh Bates realises he's at the speedway and not the Royal Rumble , then we saw last Sunday his points scoring potential . At reserve Greaves might be a bit weak , but Sissis can pop out the gate occasionally and when he does that he looks capable . Every Sheffield rider can take one of the Premier League rider's Champion's rides , so shouldn't be inconvenienced too much by his absence . We need more than we got last Sunday , yes the track wasn't great , but our reserves need to get among the points more than they did last week . It's a chilly Autumn morning , but there's blue skies and it's currently dry . So no doubt i'll see Tigerite and company on the back straight this afternoon , always a pleasure .
  4. Well done Somerset , let's stop this nastiness between us on here , there's no history of this kind of thing between us . Let's hope we can get our chance of revenge in the play off final and there's no talk of doctored tracks , riders putting other riders off , pit crews fighting etc , etc . We have been the best two teams in the division all season , with Somerset a bit better than us most of the time . If we can get past Sheffield , which wont be easy , lets hope we can produce a final worthy of the prize .
  5. According to our centre green presenter yesterday , it's not yet been decided whether Simon Stead will ride or not . To be fair , you underperformed that day . Berge looked like he'd never seen a speedway bike before , so r-r can only be a plus there , and Kell Brook was just back from injury and scored about 2 , he scored paid 16 yesterday , so if he just concentrates on speedway he should improve his score from the league match
  6. I see you're back , where were you last week when we knocked you out the KO Cup ? Every Glasgow fan that has posted on here has , A ) conceded that Somerset rode well and deserved to win , B ) acknowledged that Bates is an idiot , but had no issue with his eligibility to guest for Wilson Dean . So have your gloat , but the final and the season isn't over yet .
  7. Makes the biggee against Sheffield next Sunday all the more interesting , hope Bates wears earplugs on the parade .
  8. He's from Workington , been reffing a few years now . Didn't envy him his job today trying to sort sort out the guilty parties from the melee
  9. Bates cut Bach's nose off on the run to the first bend . He went on to win the race easily and on the back straight after the race Bach obviously said something to Bates , which Bates took exception to and started swinging punches in Bach's direction . I've no issue with that , it's a high octane sport and they were both wearing crash helmets , so punches ain't going to do any damage . When it becomes an issue is when the posse of mechanics come charging out the pits to make it a free for all . When is this nonsense going to be stopped ? There's no issue with Somerset using Bates , a promotion has to use the rules the best way they can . Well done Somerset , that's one each in the cups , will we have a decider in the play offs I wonder
  10. It will be bright today . Beautiful Autumn morning , not a cloud in the sky
  11. Considering who Mr Scotsman supports , he's in no position to criticise anybody's lights
  12. It is , and it happens at football matches too . It's just unfortunate that it was Edinburgh's final planned meeting and god knows when or if it will be restaged and what consequences occur if that is the case .
  13. It's ok , I was going to start a thread , but was feart to cause we're not actually in the final yet . Ok it would take a cataclysmic collapse for us not to be there , but still I hate tempting fate . Saying that , last Sunday the talk in the bar was that Tungate wouldn't reappear this Sunday and they would probably draft in Sam Masters as a guest . But ten points at home against Ipswich last night means he can't be carrying such as bad an injury as his apologists were putting out after his zero score in the KO Cup last week . Aaron Summers must be a major doubt with his illness , but I think everyone can take a r-r ride should that be necessary . Somerset's choice of guest reserves could be interesting . I just hope , should this indeed be tomorrow's meeting , that it's a more entertaining spectacle than last week's encounter , but a similar finishing scoreline would be welcome .
  14. Yes he really was " The Prince of Darkness " last night
  15. A 50p in the meter would have made more sense surely
  16. After what happened to Birmingham , I doubt any PL club would be tempted to move up a division . Trouble is , the crowds don't increase by enough to make it affordable
  17. This is so sad . I had a great night in the beer garden with Plymouth fans after the first day of the Fours at Peterborough . They have a hard core of supporters who followed the Devils everywhere . I feel so sorry for those guys .
  18. Ah yes , sorry I wasn't thinking I think we will , he doesn't even get booed so much at Ashfield these days
  19. Richie Worrall has bounced back from his disappointing season at Somerset last year , to be Glasgow's number 1 at the end of the season , after starting it fourth in the averages . Young Bewley was making massive strides until injury stopped him in his tracks , he will start next season on an average of around three and a half , he'll easily double that next season . Paul Starke has upped his game a couple of levels this season and Ryan Douglas has impressed me everytime I've watched him . Maybe other country's governing bodies support their young talent financially , our mob don't
  20. Is there such a thing as a meaningless Tigers v Forces of Evil meeting - I think not . Ok we might have the treble to race for , but it would be nice to put one over on them in their own midden to round off the league campaign in style . Yes it could get nauseating as the Monarchs faithful fawn over the Prince of Darkness for the last time , let's rain on his parade
