  1. Being dominant at home isn't enough , and what I saw of Workington yesterday , top 6 is well out of their reach
  2. A lot of that depends as much on how quick the referee is to put the red lights on , some don't give the riders a chance to clear the track
  3. Somerset have really clicked this year and are the team to beat . Grajczonek is doing what is expected , Tungate has found a new impetus since leaving Ipswich and Wright is as steady as ever . Starke has really kicked on this year and in Wilson Dean and Jake Allan they always have a potent reserve , which means they can be patient with the other laddie at 7 . Over two legs anything is possible , but they have been the team of the year . My own team look the side most capable of giving them a run for it , but we'd have to improve a bit away from home , especially at the Oak Tree Arena where we have fallen away in the second half of meetings there . Edinburgh and Newcastle cant be written off , but I get the suspicion that Glasgow and Somerset will be seeing quite a bit of each other in the closing weeks of the season
  4. Edinburgh getting 4 points at Peterborough yesterday makes it imperative we get at least one more away win . Somerset look out on their own , but over two legs anything can happen , but securing second place in the league is important
  5. More like October than August in the Charlie Monk stand today , racing was pretty poor too apart from when Lunna missed the gate and heat 15 . Worst Workington team in living memory at Ashfield , but it's another three points in our quest for honours .
  6. Was just a case of when the rain started , Edinburgh didn't fancy it . None more so than heat 11 when Masters and M Riss gated and the Tigers pair breezed past them , then Masters toured round in his own time . Thought that you could get excluded for not making a bona fida attempt to race . But Edinburgh's unprofessionalism apart , that was a really solid and impressive performance by the Tigers today , and surely a 24 point lead is defendable , even at the Dump
  7. Hope the final is better entertainment than last night's meeting . Thankfully Australia held on and the Joker didn't win the day
  8. Just adds fuel to the flame , let's go out and put the tie to bed on Sunday and make the second leg irrelevant . No point getting into the rights and wrongs of the Mitchell Davey thing , Edinburgh got away with it at Scunthorpe , the BSPA have obviously decided that the manipulation wont happen again .
  9. He might have stubbed his toe in the pits after the meeting last night . Obviously he must have got a medical certificate to excuse him from his ordeal tonight
  10. He's had a previous 4 point PL average , so we wont go down the manipulating the rule road
  11. As it's a NL guest we'll have to use , we could do worse than give that lad Shuttleworth a chance
  12. The Plymouth fans are a true credit to their club too . Had a great night with them in the Harvester near the Showground at the fours on Saturday night , and I enjoyed watching them celebrate their great win on Sunday
  13. The criticism of Danny is a bit harsh , he's still very much a beginner at speedway , he's going to have some ropey meetings from time to time . Don't forget , he wasn't part of the parade yesterday as he was having mechanical issues in the pits and that was followed by shedding a chain in heat 4 . We won by 18 points despite our struggles at reserve yesterday , so I wouldn't worry too much
  14. Aaron Summers does it quite a lot at Glasgow , carrying on that tradition so wonderfully carried out during Shane Parker's reign at Ashfield
  15. So it's back to non televised meetings now ( you can put the horns away now kids , thank you ) as we welcome the other Tigers to our humble abode . Fernando moves into the main body of the team and the injured Nike Lunna drops to reserve , so we'll have a wee guesty at reserve , but I don't know who yet . No Jason Garrity for Sheffield , so no gift points for us , and maybe no Josh Bates either as I'm sure I read somewhere he had been stepped down for 9 days with concussion . This will be another tough test of our play off credentials , but I'm hopeful of another three points . Just as long as the weather plays nice , a Sheffield visit has a history of rain problems
  16. Ah but had you watched Wednesday's speedway extravaganza on Sky , from God's country , you would have saw that happen twice for 5-1's
  17. Hope it stays dry for this , a wee refreshment at Cockermouth first , then onto Derwent Park , come on the Stripes
  18. The fans love it when Danny celebrates like that , supporters moan about the lack of characters in the sport , so keep on celebrating Danny . I'm old enough to remember Terry Kelly when he rode for Workington and he was much the same playing to the crowd , so I hope Danny continues what he does
  19. Aye it was just pulling into the platform , thanks . This Elite League speedway must be absolutely wonderful week after week , I might have to start watching it . There's more to speedway than just overtaking , the two rides by Lawson and Summers to shepherd their partner home , while having a Monarch snapping at their back wheel , was great to watch . EL supporters like to be condescending towards the Premier League , but I don't bother about that too much , I love what we have at Glasgow .
  20. Just back and the atmosphere tonight was brilliant . Okay the racing in the first half of the meeting was a bit follow the leader , but it did improve . The turning point was the 5-1 in heat 11 . We were getting a wee bit concerned , only 2 points up at that point , and Masters looking very good . But he had the graveyard gate 1 in that heat , he did try to anticipate the start and messed it up and that really made the difference . We were pretty solid throughout , Edinburgh didn't really have a lot to back up their heat leaders with . Though Mark Riss got better with every race and Bewley has come on a lot since his first Ashfield outing . But I really enjoyed being at a speedway meeting with that kind of atmosphere .
  21. Since we don't have a number 1 of the same standard as Masters and Wolbert , apparently , this means we will be right up against it . Yes the doyen of drivel , John Campbell , reckons Glasgow don't have a number 1 that can cope with those two . Obviously we were totally unaware of that fact and now we might have to call a sun off to avoid any embarrassment .
  22. It's only natural , since 2011 the balance of power has been firmly in West Lothian , hopefully that is about to change and the red and white hordes are emerging from their slumber shudders
