  1. Also when it comes to the play-offs, the top team selects their opponents for the group stages of the play-offs, from the one team remaining. So: Regular league fixtures: Each of the teams meet each other eight times home and away. Wolbert to miss final regular league meeting due to a dodgy burger. In addition, each team also have an extra two league matches against another team of their choosing from the one other team. The top two progress to the play-off groups, with the top team selecting for opponents for the group stages of the play-offs. The top two from the group progress to the final. Edinburgh beat Glasgow 25 times (Blobby turns into Count Von Count again), but the second leg of the final is not staged to Ashfield due to a missing band aid plaster, and therefore the trophy is shared between the two teams. All the best Rob
  2. Who will win this battle between 2012 champs and 2013 champs? Always a cracking meeting at the Eddie Wright Raceway between these two teams. All the best Rob
  3. The opening match of Group B of the play-offs. Ipswich will want to start with a home win, while Scunthorpe will be on the trail of away points. All the best Rob
  4. Last night, they had special one-off permission from the council to start at 7pm and finish by 9.30pm. All the best Rob
  5. I didn't pick up any kind of hint from going to Rye House on Saturday that Len was considering packing in Rye House. Seemed to be business as usual. All the best Rob
  6. Ryan MacDonald at No 1 for Tigers. With Paulco at No 5 on a 8-pint average. All the best Rob
  7. Monarchs dragging out their fixtures so instead of a sh*te Sneddon at reserve they have a sh*te Sheddon at reserve... no wait a minute, that doesn't work All the best Rob
  8. Worry not. Thursday: Scotland claim independence. Friday: Everyone trying to go north on a Friday gets stuck around Manchester. Saturday: English Army arrive. Sunday: Scotland surrender, with Alex Salmond beheaded. Monday: Welsh army arrive... after being delayed after passing a field on the M6 containing sheep. All the best Rob
  9. True, although the other four fixtures haven't been announced at all, so I'm expecting one on October 20th or something daft. All the best Rob
  10. But you don't need to beat them on aggregate - just get the three points off them at your place, and then whatever Edinburgh do against Workington, you just need to beat it e.g. if Edinburgh take six points off Worky, then you take seven. All the best Rob
  11. Nope for 1st and 2nd. All about who performs in the next six meetings. Edinburgh and Somerset peaked too early. All the best Rob
  12. No confidence in reaching the final, then, Najjer? Can't say I blame you - it's all set for a Scorpions vs Bandits final All the best Rob
  13. October 3rd Scunny fixtures here: http://scunthorpescorpions.co/?p=1976 All the best Rob
  14. I am going tonight, but don't care too much what happens in the meeting, as long as the Scunny boys stay safe. Low-key meeting ahead of some much bigger ones. All the best Rob
  15. Rose-tinted spectacles. Speedway was run no better in the seventies than it is now... or have you forgotten meetings being staged in November, a final being staged before a semi-final (1978 Midland Cup) or seasons starting with guests on both sides because of the fallout caused by Rider Control and riders being allocated where they didn't want to go??? All the best Rob
  16. Thanks. And then the winners of the semi meet Plymouth/Ipswich in the final. Probably heading for an Edinburgh vs Ipswich final then. All the best Rob
  17. Marvyn Cox, Hans Nielsen, Jens Rasmussen, Chris Mills, Craig Branney, David Smart, Todd Wiltshire, Jan Staechmann, Lawrence Hare and Bruce Penhall, with a special mention to Mick Fletcher because he took me around the track on his bike for my 8th birthday. All the best Rob
  18. And I'm baffled how you think 13 is one less than 13 (Hint: Leicester ) I see your point... but at the same time, please consider 2013, when there weren't enough fixtures. I do like the idea of replacing the extra four league fixtures with 4TT qualifying rounds... these used to be a big money-spinner for clubs and it's daft that they were stopped. All the best Rob
  19. And how about 2013, when there were less fixtures and several clubs finished their fixtures too early? Right number of fixtures this year. Just because Workington and Peterborough have call-offs thanks to missing pieces of medical equipment and highly mysterious "health & safety" issues, should not be allowed to take meaningful fixtures away from the other clubs. I hope promoters don't have the same knee-jerk reaction as yourself. All the best Rob
  20. Glad to see the matter resovled on track, rather than in a boardroom. All the best Rob
  21. Waco, just a helpful tip: if you use full editor on the opening post, it is possible for you to change the title. All the best Rob
  22. That's not enough fixtures! Last year, they weren't enough and Scunny completed their home meetings on August Bank Holiday This year's fixture list does provide the right number of fixtures - but when clubs only stage three home meetings in three months, they are going to get into trouble! Plus August was exceptional this year, we're used to the British weather being awful, but not in that month. All the best Rob
