check the thread about a week back.

I never saw it that way but maybe its due to the fact i started following swindon when only reading were in the top flight, and i never followed football so never thought about oxford much.

Crump Snr - Billy Sanders was quite tasty for a while, Swindon - Ippo at that time always had an edge.
-
Before my time, but Steve the Heave is one of my fav riders still, when i started in 81, Steve and Malc were still a great partnership.

I remember the EF's Nielsen way in front gestures at the swindon fans giving him the finger and 5 secs later pop, seem to remember it was a week to the WF and he had modified his conrods [ie titanium and cut down] as a test and both engines failed, he didnt appear in heat 13 did he?
-
Dunno about that, 99% of the time he ended up wanting to fight everyone. In some ways speedway miss characters like him. Oxford mail archive doesn't go that far back so cant be sure, Karger/Dugard i think was a few weeks earlier with Dugard kept being sent out and kept going thru the tapes when the ref stopped the race, i think John Whittiker was the ref and ended up fining Dugard and Oxford and the Crapper pontificated he wouldn't ref at Oxford again, of course the ACU sent him straight back to ref as soon as possible. Swindon had an erratic record but always seemed to win at the most unexpected times, but you knew any oxford match was going to be aggro from the moment you got close to blackbird leys. Reading was just as intense without the lunatic fringe you had at Oxford.

Dont think Dugard/Karger was on the bill, was it not the night Evitts/Goodwin guested? It all kicked off before the meeting with Oxford banning Evitts from coming into pits until John Whittiker put the Crapper in his place. Seem to remember Wigg ended up with a broken collar bone after he and Goodwin had a coming together? Also remember Evitts staring down some oxford rider in one race that got slower and slower but the kid wouldnt go near Evitts, maybe ali something or other. Heat 14 was a blood and thunder where Chessell ended up in the pits gate fence and Kojak started the riot after he pulled Andrew Silver off the back of Hellsen's bike. RE the local rag, nothing in swindon paper nor the star about it, [any comment on that Mr Rising? ] and the Crapper was never allowed onto the mic at swindon the week before swindon were at oxford ever again.

Speedway Gp In Tatters !
Dekker replied to Midland Red's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Who said i could?, but if the trend of declining rider interest continues, then the riders themselves are showing you what the answer is. F1 drivers get paid by the teams to compete or buy a ride, but by and large speedway riders are self employed and have to make money, as the clubs across Europe seem less inclined to stump up apart from a select few the days of free junkets for the FIM/BSI on the backs of riders paid peanuts looks like it might be ending. The FIM are very happy no doubt with BSI, all year round junkets at 5 star hotels for free, whole floors booked out, fine banquets and free travel to europe's capitals at someone else's penny. -
Speedway Gp In Tatters !

LOL, what a joke. The issue BSI are going to have to address is the fact the riders don't really make that much money out of riding in GP's, of any 16 riders in a GP only 2 or 3 are genuine contenders, the rest spend large amounts of money to just make up the numbers. Maybe in the recession the riders who realistically will never be WC are questioning the worth of the investment. -

The NZ mugs must have forgotten the last GP down under, oh well there's one born every day. -
Vojens Grand Prix

I find the comment about leigh dishing it out quite laughable, if he had "dished it out" more in his career he would have been WC a few times with the ruthlessness of a Crump. -
Ommer em Cradley LOL

Heeps will double up if the scores keep coming seeing as he is an ippo asset rather than mildy, however lets see how he gets on over the season.

Think you have answered your own question, if there are droves of Aussies coming up wanting to use the NL then it kinda loses its point as a training league for this country. Will British speedway be the loser i doubt it as it will meander on as usual, will Aussie speedway lose out, no as the talented riders will slot straight into the PL. Heeps by the sound of it is good enough for the PL, so if he has to cool his heels until next season so be it.

No great surprise your wiping it all under the carpet, are we gonna see abuse given out to any official who happens to rule against the really heathen Heathens.

No wonder Kalle was gonna lamp the talentless Makinen, however wft was Kalle doing letting Makinen get anywhere near him in the first place.
