Very true indeed, I have been going to speedway since 1957, but speedway today is far more exciting than it ever has been, you can always argue about which individuals were the best, but, overall speedway is far more superior than it was in the black and white 50's and 60's! So there!

Tomasz Gollob And The Non-blood Pole
BritPete replied to Subedei's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Well, here are the teams according to speedwayworldtv! Sweden: 1. Antonio Lindback 2. Andreas Jonsson 3. Tony Rickardsson (Capt) 4. Peter Karlsson 5. Fredrik Lindgren Poland 1. Krzysztof Kasprzak 2. Piotr Protasiewicz 3. Rune Holta 4. Jaroslaw Hampel 5. Tomasz Gollob (Capt) Grzegorz Walasek (Reserve rider) Australia: 1. Leigh Adams 2. Ryan Sullivan 3. Jason Crump (Capt) 4. Adam Shields. 5. Davey Watt Germany: 1. Christian Hefenbrock 2. Rene Schafer 3. Martin Smolinski (Capt) 4. Thomas Stange 5. Mathias Schultz Gemany look very unlikely to make the top two, but, it seems mighty close for the rest! Australia possibly have the strongest spearhead, with Sweden very close behind them. How much will they miss Max? that will depend upon what Lindgren can produce on the night. Lindback has been a little disappointing in the league, yet his GP form may suggest that he will score useful points here. Very hard to call this one, and Poland cannot be ruled out, it should make for great TV though! and if pushed I would go for a narrow win for Sweden, with Australia edging out Poland. This is definitely a no bet though! And, I do not believe for a second that any team will be taking it easy, the stakes are far too high! -

Tomasz Gollob And The Non-blood Pole
BritPete replied to Subedei's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
As far as I know, Ronnie Moore holds the record for riding for the most countries, England, New Zealand and Australia! Any advance on that! It is a bit of joke in sport overall though, especially in rugby, not to mention football, whereby if your grandmother drinks Guiness, you are eligible to play for Ireland! -

Does anyone know why Poland alone, have named a reserve rider? (Walasek) according to speedwayworldtv! Do they have a doubt about one of their riders? -
Gb Team In The Final
BritPete replied to seanisnumber1's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Are you sure about that? The reports that I have heard about the Wroclaw track, are, that in spite of it's size, is an absolute gaters paradise, very bad news for us, if true! -
Indeed, Middlo does a very good job! hard to believe that about this time last year some on here were calling for his sacking! Also, in the last couple of seasons, he has obliged us with a post about the world cup, hopefully, he will keep that tradition going this year!

Why No Reserves At The Swc ?
BritPete replied to Robbie B's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Having no reserves is very silly indeed, does it mean that if a rider should be injured in his first ride, then that team would have to continue with no replacement in all his remaining rides? seems like it. As for the joker, they are a modern thingy, and we will just have to get used to them, however, we may find them useful at Wroclaw! -
And...that Is why I hardly ever bet on these sort of matches, they are too unpredictable, I make my money on league handicap betting---you know it makes sense!

You can believe whatever you want, just explain to me why Pedersen could ride three laps of the track perfectly alright, and then be unable to ride the fourth lap at all well, and then he turned his head to watch Richardson sail past him! get real Sub Dude, that was VERY deliberate!
-
Richardson, in the last month or so has overtaken as many riders as anybody, but, he is never going to get any credit for it because so many do not like him, he has twice beaten Pedersen from the back lately, once in the Cardiff GP, and again in the Swindon v Eastbourne league match, however, I do not include his overtake of Pedersen tonight, simply because it was tactics by Pedersen to drop a point, go 6 points behind, and therefore enabling Denmark to play their joker!

Lee Richardson
BritPete replied to full-throttle's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
As I said earlier, Richardson will be fully up for this meeting, no problem whatsoever! A bit different from his Belle Vue form! eh? -
I just hope that the track in the final is a racing track rather than a gater's paradise but, the reports that I have heard, do suggest that although Wroclaw is a big fast track, overtaking is at a premium. I hope not!

Did Nicki give a point away so they can use the joker!! Looked like it to me!

Lee Richardson
BritPete replied to full-throttle's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
The threat of using Norris seems to have improved Richardson's state of health! -
Thank you for you detailed reply, I now consider myself enlightened! but, take care tonight, you may need to cover your assets! Blunsdon is not exactly the warmest place on earth!
-
Will the fairies be gracing the Abbey tonight? or will we be having an evening of absolute normality! Actually F4E, maybe you could enlighten me about this motley crew, what is the history of the aforesaid fairies? how many are there, are you after total world domination!

Overcast but dry in Swindon, nothing nasty in the forecast that I can see.

Lee Richardson
BritPete replied to full-throttle's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
The fact is Mr. C, Richardson has ALWAYS looked like that, somehow I am quite convinced that he will be back to full health today, and fully prepared for this evenings BIG meeting. There are those that suggest hypochondria, when they speak of Richardson, of course, I am not amongst such a group! -
No, it makes it ONE GP star, and Richardson and Davidsson!
-
According to the Glasgow website, they are looking for a replacement for Nicholls in the Shane Parker testimonial! So, money really does talk!

Thanks for that norbold, it all fits together like a jigsaw puzzle! now, who has got one of those leaflets! It is very odd that I cannot recall what happened yesterday, but events of 44 years ago are no problem at all! I did get the legs the wrong way round though, as Fundin was on his home track on the 1st! most unusual for him to get beat at home in a golden helmet match race!
