  1. FWIW I thought Dave Watters got it right, but it was certainly one that could have gone either way. I was left pondering the possible significance of Ritchings' thumbs up as Rushen came round -- "I'm up and OK, don't worry" or a sarky "Well, thanks a lot for knocking me off". Or something else. Who knows?!
  2. Excellent meeting, thoroughly enjoyable. As expected, Lynn pulled away in the closing stages but Birmingham made a good fist of it throughout and should be happy with their work. Delighted to see Ritchings back on a bike; I recall with pleasure his time with the Heathens. As a Workington fan, albeit a far-flung one, I hoped for good meetings from Harrison and McGurk; both delivered. Cannot conclude without mentioning Rushen, a genuine talent whose ability appears to be in inverse proportion to his taste in kevlars! The last time I saw something in such a lurid shade of orange and black, it was on the floor of a stately home, in front of a roaring fire, with its mouth open...
  3. He certainly is, judging by his first three rides. Looks a natural.
  4. That actually took longer than I anticipated!
  5. You could tell Bewley was in by the speed with which Jacko raced back to the pits!
  6. Bit tough on Mountain, but maybe an early marker for next year.
  7. Four race wins to three. Edit: And commentary returns...
  8. Commentary returns. A mixed blessing! Nope, gone again!
  9. If only there was someone involved in the Comets promotion with a bit of history as a trapper who could pass on a few tips... :-)
  10. Absolutely! Who'd be a promoter, agonising about the British weather about eight times out of 10?
  11. Looks OK from 3-4pm, chance of rain increases 4-5pm. Hopefully should be OK if the ref cracks on where possible.
  12. I suspect it's more of a "we finally managed to get it done last night" affair.
  13. Tatum has just commentated on the race for which he promptly reads out an erroneous result. Does what he's seeing register with him?
  14. Yes, for me via Firestick there's normally two feeds to choose from on the schedule. One with commentary, one without. But it nay depend on how you get your broadcast, I suppose.
  15. Presumably to see how many people react, as of course several (including me now!) have done. Perhaps in the future we should all just leave that particular poster to their own devices?
  16. No picks this year, surely? First v fourth, second v third?
  17. It's my particular bugbear, but after the cricket plug earlier I can't bring myself to have a pop!
  18. Fair play to Tatum for giving a big plug to tomorrow's Nigel Pearson cricket match at Wombourne, Staffs. Good stuff.
  19. R/R for Ellis and a top-flight debut for Boughen (who looks a prospect, but is making a big step very early in his career) makes seven rides for Kerr look likely then. This could be reasonably close.
  20. As someone who was there, not many cheered (none would have been preferable) and I think you’re right in terms of everyone being relatively close together seemingly lifting the noise level. And I do think fans of all clubs appreciate the difference between an innocuous slide (and I do take your point on injuries here) and a big ‘off’. Wolves again extremely fortunate to scramble a home win. So much has gone their way in recent tight Monmore fixtures, I’m genuinely astonished that the rain which descended immediately after heat 15 didn’t arrive five minutes earlier and hand them the aggregate bonus point too! Safe journey home to the Ipswich fans who made the long drive. Watching Doyle and Sayfutdinov is a genuine pleasure, but I was happiest to see Riss looking more his old self.
