Thats it exactly and at the same time supporting the prem team, cost of petrol and admittance all too expensive! The N/L being my favourite tier of racing I am going to miss it.
-
If I am one of those fickle fans Rocket ben so be it. I have always spoken out for the youngsters and I'm 100% behind them getting the best opportunities to get to the top of our sport. If this new system does that for them I'll be happy. I'll just miss out on some of the meetings!
-
Thats you easily pleased then Lewis. Me I'm still in shock. willnot/cannot support Scunny/Sheffield. what was our team I could get 100% behind. I will have to make do with our double headers and the updates to keep in touch with how the youngsters progress.
-
That looks to be a very good strong team!....Up there to challange for honours I think.......special best wishes and lots of good luck to Byron and Scott.....stay safe!
-
Theres a photo of the young rider on the " Scunny official web site"

I agree Albert......I'm feeling gutted right now!

I dont know the answer to the first part of your question.......For Sheffield/Hull to have a N/L team on your track.... would this be possible? I'm not sure. All I know is that I love this level of racing, don't miss matches or practices and feel the team slipping away from us fans at Scunny.? We've done all the hard graft with the youngsters ( not me personally ) we were content to watch the lads go through the learning curve last year and expect better things to come this year!
-
Because they are the Saints and have been for 3 years. Why change the name ......NL 10 teams = 18 meetings......only 4 meetings at Sheffield. ?
-
Vikings? Shock horror! No its the SAINTS
-
Oh shame!....he was great to watch, so exciting. I guess he deserves to retire though.....hope he gets his testimonial. Thanks for last year Buzz!
-
Congratulations Mildenhall.....I'm so pleased for all the Mildy fans....great stuff!
-
Well said montie... I'm sure most of whats been said is because the Fen Tiger fans are all so bitterly disappointed. All speedway fans are part of the " The big speedway family" known to stick together, but sometimes few of us get hurt. Its happened at Scunny and were back. Good luck Mildenhall!
-
Since Rob Godfrey brought speedway back to Scunny our family of 3 generations are ever present. Then the C/L but now the NDL. We still watch DVDs of the meetings from 2005 to 2010, we find ourselves saying " wonder where he is?... whatever happened to him?....He packed in because he couldn't afford to keep going or he couldn't get a place in the P/L" and sometimes..." he never bothered after an injury". What I'm hoping is ; If the NDL is for the brits it will secure means of starting off in the bottom tier and progressing to PL. Therefore not forcing our own youngsters to pack up. People come on here saying the youngsters in Sweden, Denmark & Australia are better trained at an earlier age than our youngsters, therefore these foreign riders should be well ready for our PL.

As a speedway fan at Scunny and being on the recieving end of closures ( Quibel Park and Ashbyville ) I fully understand about all the texts and phonecalls being recieved by Nikko, and I can well imagine whats being said. I really feel sorry for the fans, Mildenhall do appear to have a large amount of dedicated followers. Very sad to read Mr Vaseys post too. Heres hoping that very soon something good happens to ensure Mildenhall comes back into the league.....GOOD LUCK MILDENHALL !

Thats right, riders do drop down to gain confidence etc. but it must work both ways, can't expect youngsters to hang about in this league if they want to progress to the P/L ( which is normally the case )....dont forget they dont get paid much in this league so I'd imagine they want to double up if possible. Riding 2 leagues is the only way some of these youngsters can meet the expense. they have the same outgoings with their bikes as in the prem.
-
What a stupid quote. N/L riders progress naturally to the P/L....whatever is the point of a bottom tier if not for the riders to move upwards!
-
Well I didn't know that shadders! I'll bet there will have been some british born players in the Aussie side? that I dont know either! I know nothing much about the sport.
-
Scribbler, you and I think alike. Why oh why do promoters NOT see and encouage the young brits. I hate cricket, but when I accidentlly saw on sky TV England beating the Aussies for the Ashes I stayed up several nights watching, The pure excitement from their barmy army was so infectous ( I read in a paper that they had spent thousands of pounds to be in Aussie ) I followed it until the end and loved the sheer joy of seeing us beat the worlds best.....That is what I long to see in british speedway. huge crowds, shouting on our own riders. thats the kind of atmosphere that will once again liven up our sport and put Britain back amongst the best. Am I dreaming? suppose I am ....cry!
-
When I made my last post I knew the first person to answer would be a member off the unofficial forum ( home of supporters who delight in knocking the confidence out of riders )how long will it take the rest of the mob (the anti Byron brigade to join in? ) Maybe Byron has found a level, he rode well last year for Weymouth. We used Benji last year. no difference! We are talking Nation league and not prem.
-
I would like to see; B. Bekker A. Birks G. Irving A. Wrathall S. Worrall R. Worrall The (rider know as the cream) L. Chessell. All our own riders.....got to be good for the riders and our club reputation! Having said all that I have complete faith in S. Parnaby, he certainly knows what he's doing with the youngsters. Plus team average will have a say in it I suppose. Really looking forward to watching the Saints this year.Whatever the team. I think we'll be up there challanging this year!
-
That would be good Sarah........enjoyed watching a few of your lads in our amatuer meetings!
-
I'd go along with Alberts selection of our own Scunny assets.....Would love to see Byron being given a chance in the Saints.....he proved to be an excellent rider for Weymouth. Would also like to see Richard Franklin back.....looking forward to watching these youngsters this year, last year was a learning curve this year they will GO GO GOOOOOOOOO!!!!.....Up the Saints!
