  1. Seeing as I'm a big believer in our British youngsters getting into our sport, I read all these posts and yes I do join in. Ive been insulted took it on the chin. Don't expect it any other way or I wouldn't make posts. Whatever is said or done in N/L the basic facts are;
  2. Is Byron still a Scunny asset?
  3. Couldn't understand Lucifer Sams post......awww I do now ( having looked at Cradley NL team.)....4 Scunny youngsters in it! So is Scunny team A or B ...that is the question? Not that it matters for this year eh! I say good luck to all British lads. This year anyway!
  4. Scunnies tactics in the past has been mainly rookies with a coach. Waynne , Stuart and Buzz Burrows. Competitive racing tuition by a senior seemed to work wonders. Maybe the Stags will go down the same route? I am shocked that we didn't use Williamson but maybe this way he'll get used to more tracks. I just hope this venture works and more young Brits rise to the top, so in the not too distant future we have a strong GB team for us fans
  5. No surprize there then! Think all of us was expecting Ash. Welcome back captain and good luck for 2014...You show them!. A huge welcome to our new youngster in as reserve, heres hoping you quickly get dialled in and amongst the points. I love to see a new brit given a go. As both Ash and Matt are brits I'll be shouting my head off for you both!!!!
  6. Very happy to see our Jorgy in the team again. A brill racer but that injured shoulder has hampered his progress ...Go Jorgy - No 1 for you is within shouting distance!
  7. Rob and Gail are on hols....Could that be why its quiet. No doubt everything would have been sorted before hand!,,,,Ive guessed the team, been enough hints flying about!!
  8. Islander......No way we leave Thomas Jogensen out of the team. This year I think he'll be chasing the No 1 Race jacket, along with a couple of the others.!!!
  9. I think you'll find the Scunny and Sheffield promotion work very closely together and view the whole situation differently to us fans. I remember when speedway was brought back by Rob it was Mr Machin who helped him, in fact we loaned many Sheffield assets to get us going. Thats how speedway appears to operate. At the end of the day a rider will always go where he wants to race. Even though Scunny have many young assets it disappoints me sometimes when they chose to go to another team rather than race for Scunny. Like last year Richie wanted eleswhere so hes only done NL for us and h'es not the only one. The training schools at Scunny are brilliant and it takes special kind of people to make it work. Richard and Anne Hollingsworth, Wayne Carter, S Parnaby and wife , track staff, cafe workers, they all turn out in the coldest of weather so that youngster s from about 6yrs upwards get their training. Its a good atmosphere and one the youngsters enjoy.
  10. EC this thread is only for fun. We fans have to have something to talk about....the day fans stop talking speedway, they are no longer fans. Lets wait and see how many faithfulls will still be talking speedway after this extra long winter. ( due to our early finish to this season ) For me Josh is my 1st choice , I'd like to see Tommy the gun and Ash back.... Ryan come good in the end and deserves a place. I'd be happy with Blackbird too. I'm happy to wait and see who the other 2 will be ?
  11. I quite agree with the points you raise. Sadly our young brits do get dropped by teams and I hate to see it happen. Your right Scunny is my team and it was a shame we had to drop Josh Bates. The lad has talent and I hope he gets to make a name for himself, We were struggling as a team having 2 rookies in our reserve berths, I'm sure Rob Godfrey would hate having to dispence with him, as he is all for bringing on the british lads but fans were calling for our team to be strengthened...
  12. I feel sorry for Stephan who has done quite well, Lambert as had many goes in the PL. Come on BSPA lets have some rules set in concrete for british youngsters for 2014 One british rookie in every team for the full year? On a certain average, If every team had one it would be a fair playing field!
  13. Don't knock Rob Godfrey with his mic on the centre green......Its great! Scunny fans love the banter it makes meetings more entertaining.....he gives both side of supporters opportunity to join in. His interviews with team managers riders etc all informative. I'm sure he knows exactly where to draw a line where refs are concerned..."Carry on Rob - noboby will please everyone "
  14. I never doubted it was not legal, but thank you I know now
  15. Why?.....According to Scunny Official website he is guesting! Can someone tell me the rules regarding guests from E/L riding in the P/L when not signed to a premier league club? Obviously they can as Houggard is only E/L rider ?
  16. I haven't been able to go to many matches this year so I'm not going to comment on riders performances. Montie asked me at the beginning of the season what I thought of the team they had put together. My reply was that the team wouldn't win anything. To me it looked obvious that our reserves ( 2 complete novices at PL standard ) would let us down. Unfortunately, and this is where our speedway has gone wrong. Reserves and not the higher paid riders are the ones who win the matches , simply because they can have 7 rides. I'd love to see every team in the league have No's 6 & 7 with 3 pt av riders who stay in those positions for a full season. Let the 5 riders race for the points. Injuries is tough luck, but they happen in speedway.
  17. A huge Well Done Eurosport!...I thought the coverage was excellent. Far better than Sky!
  18. Tai was no stranger to locals at Scunny being that his family lived here. We were privileged to watching Tai blasting around the EWR waiting for him to have his 15th birthday so he could be part of our team. He was part of our winning CL team of 2006/2007 so you are correct HT not that it makes any difference as you say.
  19. Hector Read again... It was greyhoundp that used the words in his post. I merely used them in a reply. Anyway, I do agree riders will go where they want to and not for one minute do I think Rob Godfrey would stop that happening, if it was all done by fair means. Rob publically made it known at the start of 2012 that he was going to run the Saints for 2 years, which he's found from past experience is time youngsters need before PL. The Saints get loads of free track time ( more than most teams can offer) and do progress faster for that reason. Anyway this is all getting boring now. I just hope Rob finally gets the message not to bother, do like all other promoters. If you cant beat em join em!! That coming from me ( being one who believes in bringing the young brits on) is a shock to my system lol.
  20. Good luck Tom,!!! might even get over to see you at Lynn. Hope you have a good season. was so looking forward to you being at Scunny, but hey your going to be racing on one of the best tracks, which will help your developement.....best wishes!
  21. As I'm one of the fans your reffering to I would say to you " I have been a fan since the mid 70s and quite capable of seeing the full picture of our speedway leagues." I dont agree with a lot of your post, but hey thats because I stand in the freezing cold through the winter months at the EWR watching the Saints youngsters (and help some with money). Apart from Worral and Irving and possiblyTom Young the other riders defo would have benefitted from another year at Scunny, where track time is available. So try and make whatever you want to justify means that you have the right to our riders.....It won't wash with me. I note even you admit in your last sentence that after a couple of years perhaps we will see Clegg back HOME in Scunny.
  22. Vog, Nothing to do with the fans!!.......N/L C/L producing riders before Scunny come along. I'll not argue with that, up to a point, BUT where were most promoters in the dead cold of winter on Sats and Suns whilst Rob, Richard Stuart and their gang of helpers were freezing, working their socks off clearing water, frost, snow, burst pipes etc. Flag men on the centre court being blown to bits and freezing to the bone, to a point I felt sorry for them. all so that the youngsters could get out on track in practice/ AM meetings. Rob made it clear that the youngsters in the Saints team last year were on a 2 year course. and would hopefully be ready for prem in 2014. So why do some team promoters think that they have the god given right to poach our team riders. Surely promoters Could/should have a gentlemans agreement to honour each others plans. Robs motto of laps and more laps for trainees has worked. I for one want to see more british riders come through the ranks. without Scunny with its 24/7 track time I fear the amount of british kids coming through may reduce. Looking on the bright side. Our Prem team are the Champions! COME ON SCORPS, LETS DO IT AGAIN!
  23. e Have you ever been to a AM meeting at Scunny. The 500cc open races are of riders who can defo race as good a race as you'd see in a NL meeting. Some bloody good riders take part and the racing is very good. (Though the support riders section are riders not quite up to the standard of NL).When riders race in the AM in the open section they are sometimes competing against riders from N/L and P/L testing bikes or coming back after injury or even foreigners show- casing themselves. Most are ready for N/L and looking for team places. The british youngsters need the NL to get a foot on the ladder and to get started in a league. I pay or rather did pay the going rate at Scunny to watch N/L and thoroughly enjoyed it. Get your head around the fact that these youngsters often start a very early age and come up through ranks and deserve a chance in our leagues.
  24. Its got to be decided whether we ever want A british World champ again, as the way our sport is run without a training league I just cannot see it happening. I'm old enough to remember stadiums full and with plenty of good british riders to support. Nowadays some teams may have only one british rider. At the moment we have several decent youngsters coming through the ranks. Worralls Birks etc. those happen to have come through Scunny where they get loads of track time. I know there are some other tracks that give training but how long will they run, surely they are going to meet the same problems as Scunny. "From the first rung of every ladder you have to progress to next rung until you get to the top."... so call the league whatever you like but the first tier will always be the training league, whether you acknowledge it or not.
